Teslin River - Johnson's Crossing to Carmacks

Ever since visiting the Yukon in 2015 for the Donjek Glacier hike, I have been enamoured with the wildness of the river systems in the north. On that trip I bought a guide describing the various river systems, and more than a decade later I finally pulled it out to start actually seriously planning an adventure. After some map study and discussion with local outfitter and guide Kalin of Eddyline, I selected the Teslin River as our objective for Katharina and I to run. This class I river suits our paddling abilities (little to no whitewater experience) and has the benefit of road access at both ends of the trip, which keeps the costs down. All that was left was to select a team. Friends Debbie, Marc, Ivan, Duncan, Judy, and Sue were all keen to join. This made us a floatilla of four canoes for a fantastic eight day adventure. Putting in at Johnson's Crossing, we paddled about 200 km of the Teslin river until it joined the Yukon. It was about another 170 km on the Yukon to get to our take out point at Carmacks.
