Donjek Glacier Hike
Kluane National Park, Yukon
August 2-10, 2015

Debbie came up with the idea of hiking the Donjek glacier route in Kluane National Park. This is a fairly rugged
hike of slightly over 100 km. With three mountain passes, several river crossings and no marked trails this one is not
for the novice hiker. Six of us set out on this trip in August 2015 and completed the route in nine days. We saw
caribou, dall sheep, golden eagles, and grizzly bears. We also saw plenty of wolf and moose signs, but alas no actual
animals.
- Day 1 - Alaska Highway to Burwash Uplands.
- Day 2 - Old mining roads along Burwash River.
- Day 3 - Hoge Pass and Hoge Creek.
- Day 4 - Donjek River to the glacier.
- Day 5 - Donjek Glacier exploration to Bighorn River.
- Day 6 - Expectation Pass, Atlas Pass and descent to Duke River.
- Day 7 - Duke River crossing and ascent to Cache Lake.
- Day 8 - Copper Joe Creek.
- Day 9 - Copper Joe Creek road to the Alaska Highway.
