Katharina, Judy, and I flew to Whitehorse from Calgary on the same flight. Marc and Debbie arrived at the same time
to quite the chaos scene as several flights arrived simultaneously at this tiny airport. Took a while to hail a cab
which took us to our hotel which was in the process of being cleaned. We could at least drop our bags, then
we went out for beer.
Welcome to Whitehorse!

Later in the afternoon, all three of us arriving from Calgary discovered that our had been luggage
officially broken into. Judy and I both had our butane stoves stolen by the Canadian Air Transport
Security Authority, even though butane stoves (without
butane of course) are explicitly permitted in the rules. Thanks CATSA for your innovative service!
Ivan, Duncan, and Sue arrived later in the evening without any problems.
Notice of theft of benign objects

Today was a logistics day. Bought a couple new stoves to replace the stolen ones, fuel for the stoves, bear bangers,
and some miscellaneous food
items. Ivan managed to find a place that rented bear spray, though for the cost, it was almost as much as buying it
outright.
The accomodations were a bit weird, but quite suitable for our group

Kat and I took a long walk down the Yukon river to the dam looped back to town on the other side. In the evening,
Kalin stopped by to drop off some canoe barrels and size us up for paddles and life jackets. Repacked our gear and
dropped off a couple bags with the hotel owner for storage during our trip. With an excellent
weather forecast for the next week, we are all pretty excited to begin the adventure!
