Hit the river early as everyone wanted to make it to town for fish and chips before our scheduled 15:00 pickup.
It was a sunny day, but we entered an eerie mist which made for some ethereal paddling for an hour. We
passed the cadets again as they were floating downstream without paddling, strung out along over a kilometer of river.
We passed another group and a solo paddler packing up camp, however were later passed by them as we took our lunch
break on a large gravel bar.

Lunch stop

After six hours of travel we arrived to the Coal Mine campground in Carmacks with two hours to relax before our pickup.
The canteen here has quite the captivated audience as several groups waited their time with hot food,
steaming coffee, and cold beer. We of course partook as well... Ivan and Duncan attempting to drink the town dry
between the two of them.

Boats hauled up and cleaned

A wise warning. I cannot decide whether the French or German translation is the most humorous.

Deb had a long chin wag with the solo woman we had seen on the river, and then our driver Alan showed up with the van.
We loaded the canoes and gear, and spent the next three hours driving in comfort and friendly conversation back
to Whitehorse.
