House

by Daniel MacIvor
featuring David Whiteley

For his sixth year at the Ottawa Fringe Festival, David Whiteley did double duty: performing House with mutatis mutandisand directing Hidden in This Picture for Vision Theatre.

House "My mother's possessed by the devil,
my father's the saddest man in the world,
my sister's in love with a dog,
and the one I love does not love me."

David Whiteley plays the Everyman of Misfits in this freakshow by Daniel MacIvor (Never Swim Alone, Marion Bridge, Cul-de-sac).

A sharp, edgy, innovative one-man show about a man in group therapy trying to save his marriage while telling stories about people longing to connect. The central character is charming and sympathetic but also a sharp-tongued and ruthlessly sarcastic bundle of nerves. House won the Chalmer's Canadian Play Award for its zany main character and its touching stories.

Reviews of House:

"House is definitely worth seeing." | Alvina Ruprecht, CBC Radio One
