ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

July 15, 1985

Larry's time is up. Last chance to tell where the drugs are. WHAT'S THAT SMELL?

Marley thought about yesterday with Jake. Bridget appeared and was glad she was happy. She said she should've gone out with Victoria and Nancy but Marley said she was glad she'd been right there.

Jake is not having a good enough time to satisfy Victoria.

Nancy's happy and mildly stoned.

Adrienne noticed smoke and everybody was sent out. In the panic Nancy got up and fell down choking yelling 'somebody help me.' The preppies escaped.

Jimmy warned Tommy Lee. They bashed Larry and left.

Adrienne's worried about Larry.

Jake went in after Nancy. She's scared. He carried her out.

Muffy: THERE you are. Vic: WHERE is Nancy? Jake went back inside looking for her. Stranger: It was every man for himself, right? Muffy: We're leaving. Fires really bum me out, okay? Tell Nancy to call me. Vic: I WILL, if she gets out. Exit preppies. Enter Jake and Nancy. Nancy's safe and silly. "Wow, didja ever notice how CUTE firemen are?" Vic wanted to go home but Nancy wants to go to Smiley's. Her treat. Cough, cough choke. They did.

No fire to be found. Adrienne suggested the firemen check the basement. Tommy Lee shut her up. They went to check. Tommy Lee sent Jimmy to fetch Larry.

Gloved hands are untying Larry.

Chapin has come from Washington DC. He's at Smiley's. He left forgetting his jacket. Enter Nancy and company. Nancy found him attractive. Jake thinks she's in a weirdly good mood but he doesn't seem to suspect drugs. Victoria wanted to go to his room. Maisie asked after Marley. Nancy asked about the Chapin. Maisie knows nothing. She suspects Nancy's been drinking. (Close.) Nancy raved about the marvellousness of the Plains Motel. Maisie asked why they'd left. "I make it a rule never to stay in a place when it's burning down."

Jimmy found Larry had been untied and was smashed by a tallish someone with gloves. (HA. Not in Washington, are we, after all?)

Tommy Lee found out that none of his people had called the firemen and was suspicious. The firemen found a smoke bomb in the furnace room. Someone had planted it and turned the fans on.

Nancy's taken her earring off and is watching it swing in her hand. Jake sort of half-suspects I guess. He thinks she should be taken home. Victoria's pleased about her inheritance. She wants to stay here with the Loves. He seems to want to leave. Jake told Nancy and Victoria about the smoke bomb (he'd called KBAY). Nancy's depressed contemplating Perry. She brought up Victoria being at the Plains Motel. Vic denied it and she sniffed and said "Well I thought it was you. I thought maybe you saw how happy we were." "No." "Well I wish SOMEBODY could tell us how we looked when we were happy." Jake took her home. Vic looked unthrilled.

The Plains Motel will have to be closed a couple of days while it's cleaned up. He doesn't want the police involved because the smoke bomb was probably planted by a kid. The fireman said it would be a SMART kid the furnace had been rigged up pretty good, you see. How sweet. Another fireman dashed up saying they'd found some guy passed out in the basement. "Oh, how nervous-making!" cried Tommy Lee, "What if it's Ewing?" (Or facial expression to that effect.) It turned out to be Jimmy. They asked him (sans firefighters) what he'd done with Larry. Startlingly clever response: "I don't know. I must'a' done something but I can't remember what it was."

I think Larry being unconscious. Gloves being removed.

Victoria loves being a Love. Bridget's glad she's happy. Vic told her about Nancy's obsession with Perry and the Plains Motel. She thought about Perry's incredible death.

Marley had a nightmare about Perry's death.

Liz had promised Alice in Washington that Chapin could stay with her but there is some difficulty because of renovations or something. So she called Mac to try to unload him on the Corys. She managed it. Chapin was grateful. He's a doctor. He's liked by Alice. She told him about Sally and Kevin and the Corys (no mention of Catlin). He asked about Lesoleil. She told him she knew it was a spa but that's about it. Sally called and Liz told her Chris was there and asked if Catlin were in Washington yet. He's not but he should be, having left yesterday. Sally's wildly worried now. So is Aunt Liz. (I can imagine Aunt Liz deciding he's gone bombing off on a wild weekend with Brittany.)

The mysterious gloved one sloshed water over an unconscious Larry (and we know it's Catlin; he did this to Sally 'way back on a ridiculous plane) Larry regained consciousness and spluttered "what are you doing here?" Larry: You didn't have to throw water in my face. Catlin: I was watching you sleep. It got boring. (He looked lovely droll. I was thrilled to utter death.) Larry: Where'd you learn about smoke bombs, anyway? Catlin: What do you care? I SAVED you (I'll bet he learned it from Phil via Sally.) Larry: It was dangerous to fill a place with smoke. Somebody might'a' got hurt trying to get out. Catlin: I took a CHANCE. No one else was tied to a chair about to get his brains blown out. Larry: He wasn't going to blow my brains out. Catlin: Oh, man -- you know everything, don't you? Larry: Yeah, I was there. Catlin: So was I. I was LISTENING. Sounded like you didn't have a chance. Larry: That was YOU. You were there earlier, checking the place out. Catlin: That's right. Larry: Well what else did you hear? Catlin: You and that NUMBER that tends bar. Larry: Oh. Catlin: That better all have been in the line of duty. Larry: You don't know everything that's going on. Catlin: Oh yeah? I think I have a pretty good idea what's going on. Larry: Look, Tommy Lee was not about to kill me. Catlin: Ha. Well I think that was a pretty good imitation. Larry: Yeah, it was. There was no firing pin in that gun. Catlin: WHAT, YOU GOT X-RAY VISION TOO, SUPERMAN? Larry: Hey, that was an old interrogation technique they used in the Korean War. Catlin: Oh, I see. Larry: Yeah, he couldn't kill me no matter how much he threatened. Catlin: Oh yeah? Why's that? Larry: Because I have some drugs he wants so bad he could cry. If he kills me he's got to kiss them goodbye. Catlin: He could'a' kept you there as long as he wanted. Larry: Yeah, well he wouldn't've. Catlin: And knowing Tommy Lee I'll bet he has all kinds of Korean War tricks. A real fun guy. Larry: Okay -- Catlin: AND YOU'D STILL BE THERE IF IT WASN'T FOR ME. Larry: ALL RIGHT, ALL RIGHT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT ME TO SAY? Catlin: No. I want you to admit that you're not doing so well working alone. Larry: But I don't have any choice. Catlin: Yes you do. Let me help you. Larry: In a pig's eye. Catlin: Well I'm going to help you whether you like it or not. Larry: Why don't you just forget about me and move into your cabin with Sally and grow yourself some tomatoes? Catlin: I'd like that. (The look on the dear boy's face was priceless.) Once you're in the clear. Larry: Yeah well I can take care of myself. Catlin: Stand up. Larry: No problem. (It was.) Catlin: Obviously you're ready to jump right back into the swing of things. Larry: You've really got your mind set on this, haven't you? Catlin: Yop. Larry: You're crazy. Catlin: Runs in the family. He biffed him in the arm and grinned cheekily. Only word for it. Silly boy.

Vic went outside. Marley came down wearing what looks to be Sally's castoff beyond belief nightwear and told Bridget about her nightmare. Vic came in. Marley told them Perry was angry and arguing with someone in the hayloft and then he fell. Marley cried. She went to the kitchen. Victoria said she'd dreamed exactly what she'd been thinking about.

Chris Chapin went back into Smiley's for the jacket. He found out Maisie was the owner. "Oh. Are you Smiley?" he asked everso innocently. Smiley left a long time ago. He left as Nancy came in. He looked at her but she was busy being depressed and mildly let down. Maisie told her she'd be feeling happy all the time soon. Nancy doesn't think she can do it on her own. Maisie went to make her an omelette. Enter Muffy who told her she thought she would've called last night. Nancy told her the stuff had worn off and she felt about as bad as she had before. Muffy told her it all wore off eventually and that's why you call your friend to get some more. Nancy said she didn't need any more. Muffy said she'd be awaiting her call. Exit Muffy.

Victoria's convinced it's a twin link in Marley's dreams. Bridget doubts it. Vic's afraid she'll figure it out. She thinks maybe she should confess. Bridget doesn't want her to jeopardize the new life. Vic's afraid they'll find out some other way.

The cleaning crew's on its way. Tommy Lee wants to open by the end of the week, bribing inspectors if need be. He's not telling Chicago they lost Larry. Jimmy's to get him back in 24 hrs. Jimmy figures he did have backup in the smoke bomb planter. Tommy Lee says he'll come back to sell the drugs. Adrienne suggested he just buy the drugs and not kill Larry. Tommy Lee said he wasn't going to play games with Ewing any longer. Jimmy said he didn't scare easy. Tommy Lee said he had some devices to change that. (Thumbscrews? Or are we Procrustes?)

Larry: Yeah, I heard them talking about this drug lab. I figure it's right here in Bay City. Catlin: We'll have to find out where it is. Larry: What is this we stuff? Catlin: Oh, man -- I thought we'd been through all this already. Larry: You're staying in the background. I'll call you if I need you. You can relay messages to who I tell you. (He caught sight of his reflection in the mirror.) Oh. Oh. I wasn't ready for that. Catlin: Haven't looked in the mirror in a while, huh? You've also been wearing the same clothes for about a month now. Larry: So I'll go back to my hotel, shower & shave -- Catlin: You can't go back to the hotel. Larry: Who says? Catlin: Tommy Lee. He'll be there with a chainsaw or something. Larry: I'm not worried. Catlin: Well I am. You're not going anywhere you're staying right here. Larry: Who's the cop and who's the little brother? (Catlin stood up and towered over him sinisterly.) Catlin: You need rest. You're not just going to put on your shirt with the pineapples and go back into the street. Larry: I'm not wasting time babying myself. Catlin: It's not wasting time. Larry: Look, I've got something these guys want real bad and I'm not taking the pressure off now. Catlin: Larry -- Larry: HEY. This is a solo act, man. Catlin: I don't think so. Larry: What are you talking about? Catlin: You see you don't have anything they want. I do. I've got the drugs. (And all the people rejoiced.)

Chris told Aunt Liz not to worry about Catlin because he'd probably left intending to surprise Sally and had seen no need to call her in the event of a breakdown. Liz is upset because she worried Sally. Chris said Catlin would forgive her and he would. Liz told him about the Corys.

Larry: I want that stuff back, Catlin, and I want it back now. Catlin stood firm and told him he had some nerve putting it at his house. Larry said he'd intended to retrieve it before Sally and Kevin returned. Catlin insisted on helping. Larry gave in in return for the drugs. He said Catlin had Sally and Kevin to worry about and he was glad Clarice had thrown him out so he didn't have to worry about his kids. He's worried about the kids of Bay City though.

Enter the omelette. Nancy couldn't face it and called Muffy. Stuff ASAP.
