ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

January 22, 1987

Wallingford met with Michael. He perceived from Michael's aspect that the job was illegal. Michael told him it involved Reginald.

That Old Carrot blipped merrily along. Scott refused to leave him. Mary said she had to go. Cheryl arrived. Mary said she could keep Scott company and left.

Bridget tried to force Peter to take some tea and toast. He was preoccupied looking for the combination.

Michael wants Wallingford's help to crack Reginald's safe. Wallingford was apprehensive. Michael pled. He explained his motives. Zane was the deciding factor.

Peter tried to find out the combination from Gomez. She told him the combination was immer on That Old Carrot's person. Bridget returned and Peter cruelly refused her lovingly-prepared breakfast as he left.

Scott was glad Cheryl had come. She said she had to be with him. They're madly in love, etc. She had to leave. He went in to sit with his father. Reginald asked after Mary. Scott assured him she would be back. Reginald [weakly] told him he needed him to bring him a blue folder from the table in the alcove. [It must contain Donna's picture.] He said it was business and Scott tried to dissuade him, but he capitulated in the end. That Old Carrot asked after Mary some more.

Mary told Ada Vince had not come back. He had a fight with Mrs. Grimes because Reginald owned the building.

Vince coughed a lot in a new room [which looks to me to be identical to the old one, but hey]. He read in the newspaper a story about her as Mrs. Reginald Carrot. He seems a little muddled about her marital status. He thought about a scene with Mary I recall but seemed to have documented insufficiently to be able to identify it. [It could have occurred, I would say here, here, or here. It was the one about how she had changed those last few weeks she was alive and had probably come to him fresh from the Carrot bed on occasion.]

Mary has placed a moderately cryptic ad in the paper looking for Vince. She wonders if Reginald really did see Vince. Ada stuck up for Vince.

Michael and Wallingford awaited Willard and the equipment. Wallingford warned Michael not to get his hopes up.

Nicole visited with Reginald who repeatedly addressed her [weakly] as Mary. He muttered about papers and Scott and Mary. She calmed him. He muttered his regret about having shown Donna a photograph. [He claimed in his delirium that his intention had been to help her understand.] Nicole found Michael to report. She tried to make him promise he wouldn't do anything stupid. He rang off.

Willard arrived.

Nicole told Peter that Reginald had been rambling about Scott and papers. Peter was indignant. Scott is only adopted and not capable of fetching and carrying for the great man. Peter went in to visit with his father. He would make such a great nurse. That soothing, whiter-than-white bedside manner! He told him he loved him, meantime sneaking his wallet out of the drawer of the bedside table.

Scott found the blue folder easily. Bridget seems almost to like Reginald these days. She told him [Scott] security had found no evidence that anyone had been on the terrace. He heard a noise outside and instructed Bridget to call security. He tackled the prowler, who proved to be Cheryl. She was startled and told him she could have been a gardener. She was looking for a clue to implicate someone else. He said security home and told Cheryl she shouldn't sneak around alone. They quarreled bitterly. They calmed down. He asked her to promise not to work alone. She refused.

Mary worried about Vince. Ada sent her away.

Willard told Wallingford he had to leave them the equipment to use as they saw fit. They talked shop. Michael was all at sea, θαῦμα ἰδέσθαι. He was impressed.

Peter was very much the loving son. He found the combination and left.

Scott and Cheryl returned to Mary's Place. He said he had to go to the hospital and he'd be pleased if she dropped by a little. They argued. He loves his father.

Reginald was [weakly] pleased to see Mary. She warmed to him, seeing him vulnerable and victimized. He said she understood. She asked what he'd seen on the terrace. He said he wasn't sure but admitted he thought he'd seen Vince. He told her how awful Michael was, thinking he'd hurt Donna on purpose. He told her it had been a photo of the twins.

Wallingford started on the safe. Enter Nicole.

Vince imagined Mary coming back to him bearing suitcases. She said she loved him. He said he loved her and explained the significance of Mary's Place. There is no heat in his room. He looked in the classifieds for a new room and found the following: "home from Paraguay. Your wife needs to meet with you. You know where. Immediately." He began a coughing fit.

Mary & Scott talked about their loving father. He is good and bad at the same time. He began rambling about Donna. Mary told Scott about the photograph.

Michael reasoned with Nicole and asked her to help Donna. She gave permission reluctantly to open the safe. They heard Peter coming. Michael and Nicole ducked out the French doors and Wallingford hid behind a chair. Peter opened the safe as they looked on and withdrew the contents.
