ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

February 22, 1985

Donna tried to bluff her way out of it but Kathleen was firm.

Mac's worried. Jamie and Ada aren't sure he's right. He got a call from a New York lieutenant. He told him to get a move on.

Carl and Rachel. Carl says the time has come for Mac to pay the piper. He reminded her of Ross. He says he's been in control all along. She told him he's rambling. He told her her willfulness and strength were appealing. Carl said he wanted to possess what Mac Cory holds most dear. She reminded him of Sandy. He called Bay City a little village. He's a very weird man.

Rachel's things were where they should be. Mac's suspicious though. He wants to go to New York. He'll wait till midnight for a call.

Cass teaching Dee to sit down. They'll knock off now. He asked her terribly kindly what was wrong. He wants to know if it's him. IT'S NOT YOU she said. He said if 't weren't him mus' be A GUY. He said he understood. And pretty much "By George, Eliza, the streets will be strewn with the bodies of men shooting themselves for your sake before I've done with you."

Kathleen will dictate the letter to our dear Enid Royer. Donna's sulking. She's making her use personalized stationery. She got the letter and left. Donna swore to get even with her. She called Maisie.

What I take to be Catlin thinking about giving money to Willa. Liz told him everything would work out. He asked her to take care of Sally while he was gone. She told him to take care of himself. He asked her to tell Sally to meet him at the cabin. He's got a flight first thing tomorrow morning. He has summat to do.

Larry and MJ discussing contusions and blunt instruments with regard to Willa darkly. The coroner thinks it was an overdose. Larry thinks Catlin was p'r'aps right. But he says nobody can know he's suspicious ESPECIALLY Catlin. MJ dashed to the Corys'.

Sally was released from whatever production meeting thingy she was in. She doesn't know where Catlin's gone. She's worried. She's going to go to the cabin. She feels ill. Aunt Liz told her Catlin would be back. (I suspect she means from Wyoming, not wherever he's gone now, for Sally said she'd miss him.) WHEN said Sally tragically. Peter arrived. He wants her to do a little more work before leaving to meet Catlin.

Cass was thrilled about the letter. Dee wasn't. Cass wants to celebrate. Kathleen made helpful suggestions for activities Dee could pursue ELSEWHERE. Dee left. Cass told Kathleen he thinks she misses Frankie. Cass and Kathleen went to his place. (One of the suggestions for Dee was "Making fudge with Lily" and now Kathleen is rambling about butter and chocolate and sugar and VERY HEAVY SAUCEPANS. Cass said he loved her.)

MJ told the Corys Carl's body was not within 2 km of the wreckage. HE'S ALIVE yelled Mac.

Music. Carl & Rachel. He asked her to dance. She said nothing.

Mac raving about Carl. Jamie explained to MJ about Rachel. MJ has put a tracer on the phone. Hutchins has finally found a way to destroy me. Said Mac.

Kathleen talking about her mother. She was very like her. She's 11 months younger than MJ. She talked about how much Vince loved her mother.

Donna accused Maisie of letting the cat out of the bag. Maisie denied it. She asked why Donna was so worried about people knowing. Donna said for Marley's sake. Maisie advised her to tell her she loved her.

Sally asked Peter how long Catlin would be away. Peter said (regretfully) it could be a few years. But he'll get Catlin back home to her as soon as possible.

Larry at the Pig Whistle trying to find out about Willa. She used to come in with another girl in a hat. Catlin arrived. Larry told him not to worry about it. Catlin asked him to keep an eye on Sally & Kevin. (I knew he would. He does this ALL THE TIME. He'll probably station Mr. Birdwatcher Bellwethers outside the house with his binocklers.)

Marley told Donna she was the same person even without money. Donna said being a Love included all of these social things. Donna said they could forget about the cotillion ball if she wanted. Marley said if they could do it with very little expenditure she'd go through with it. Donna overjoyed promised to make the gown herself from a pattern. Da DA da dum da DA da dum trilled Donna and waltzed off. (She's really taken Scarlett to heart. D'ye remember when she [Scarlett] made a dress from the curtains for Rhett's visit?)

Sally & Catlin at the cabin. Sally's roaming about clad in actual nightwear that is not beyond belief and not out of his bag back there. She bought it for their wedding night. He wishes he didn't have to leave her. He wishes he knew when he was coming back. She told him it didn't matter and all he needed to know was she was there and she loved him etc. etc. etc. Long silence. Rustling.

Rachel's wasting champagne. Carl's annoyed. He's allowing her to call now.

Kathleen's happy. Cass too. Cass suggested finding her Frankie. Kathleen nixed that. They don't want her repunking. Strange and sudden detour from topic. Kissing.

Strange and bizarre dialogue of Catlin & Sally. Sally: What are you thinking? Catlin: That we're going to be together. I can't let anything keep us from being together. (When I tell you that he sounded remarkably like Peter* when I on my rewinding way caught that bit you will see how strange that seemed. Also of course that sounds a completely bats thing to say. What does he mean? It is BEYOND me. Damn. I wanted to see Sally in non beyond-belief nightwear. It just doesn't seem fair, does it. They're very strange people.)

MJ telling Mac he has to keep Rachel on the line for at least a minute. The phone rang. Mac with trembling voice saying he loved her. They talked about the doll. Suddenly cut off. Carl has clued in. NOW THE REAL GAME BEGINS he said. He's taking her back to Bay City for the grand finale.

* It never occurred to me at the time, but now reading this it seems as if it might be possible that the inexplicable dialogue was Peter having a fantasy.

I don't think I understand any of this. Carl and Rachel are particularly annoying. Carl just talks and talks and Rachel says nothing or speaks coolly and calmly. Ick.

I understand blunt instruments. They are dear to my heart. But what significance has the hat? The only deeply hatted person I can think of is Felicia. Oh and Emily on the phone in her travelling clothes had a hat. (I am cheered by these prospects. It would seem that it will not be very long at all before Catlin returns and gets himself embroiled in the Emily imbroglio (and doesn't marry Sally because by being married to him she puts her own life in danger from the people who dislike him (stop me if you've heard this before) EXCEPT PETER who would never never never do aught to hurt her, I know. I know.) UP TO THE NECK and that's a long way up unless of course he's wrong way up.)

"What do you think?" "'S beautiful." "Feel the fabric. It's real silky." "You bought it for our wedding night, didn't you." (For some unknown reason I thought wildly that Sally was displaying the curtains she had made right up until the mention of the wedding night. I must've been still thinking about Donna. I think perhaps I'm nuts. Gibber gibber. I began to have doubts I must admit when she said it was silky. (Jessica I'm sorry but I think they're funny too. Especially when I'm misguided. He sounded very accusing when he said "didn't you.") "Yeah. I didn't want to wait though. You know how bad I am about saving things." "I wish I didn't have to leave you." "We still have all night." Etc. etc.

What if Catlin goes away and comes back Peter? Sally would be turrible confused.
