A flower box was delivered to Felicia at the Northwoods Inn. From Zane. "Oh, I hope it's long stemmed roses -- white, maybe." She opened the box. A very dead very fishy fish goggled up at her. "The man is a maniac."
Sally told Mac about Michaud's offer. She doesn't think she'll refuse. He's not thrilled.
Britney rushed to Catlin's room to tell him Tommy Lee and Jimmy were going to the lab and she intended to follow them. He said she wasn't going anywhere and held her in a vise-like grip up against the door as she gasped and struggled. He told her to think about this and she'd agreed to be no more than the inside contact. Rough stuff at the lab is for him and Larry. She said it was because she was a woman but he said "NO" as if such an idea had never occurred to him and pointed out that MJ was a woman with the added convenience of being a police officer and in a van. He said they should call the van to have them follow Jimmy. As he took the phone in hand Tommy Lee came a-rapping at the door. It wasn't locked so he came right in. Brittany threw herself into Catlin's arms and gripped him tightly. Tommy Lee said he'd wondered where she'd been running off to and he'd followed her. WHAT'S SHE UP TO, ROY?
Mac's going to miss Sally. Sally said they'd visit him in ordinary life oftener now. He doesn't know about this job and wants her to check it out more thoroughly. WHAT EXACTLY DOES MICHAUD WANT FROM YOU? Enter Michaud.
Muffy has a great new drug she wants Nancy to try. Nancy refused. Muffy tried to persuade her and told her it might help the pain in her ankle. She left a sample in spite of Nancy's protests. She ran into Chris on the way out. Called him cute and kissed him before dashing. Chris told Nancy that Muffy was high and in trouble if so. Nancy tried to steer him away from drug concern. He biffed off to get her something for the pain.
Mac and Michaud want to have a chat alone. They threw Sally out. She wasn't thrilled. Michaud told Mac Sally's job with him would be wildly exciting and important. Mac hates to lose such a talented art director but he can't stand in her way. Michaud suggested Sally be kept on part time at Cory but free to do freelance Lesoleil work. Mac said OK if Sally okays. Michaud suggested Mac buy shares in Lesoleil and possibly be put on the board of directors. Mac will think about it. Michaud is pleased to have Sally whom he needs so very much now.
Zane has trundled around to the inn explaining the fish was a walleyed pike. Felicia: All right, what did I do to deserve old walleye? Zane: Well I caught it about 50 miles up the bay and the minute I set eyes on that baby -- Felicia: CAREFUL Zane: -- I knew it had your name on it. Felicia: So it reminded you of me. Zane: It certainly did. That fish had a mind of its own. I had a heck of a time getting her in the boat. Felicia: So you sort of think of me as the catch of the day, huh? Zane: Season. Felicia: Really, the whole season, huh? My, my, you do know how to sweet talk a girl. He's going to prepare the fish for her. The chef won't be thrilled. They'll eat it together tonight. He kissed her. "You're crazy, Zane Lindquist. Nice crazy. Fun crazy. And DEFINITELY my kind of crazy."
Nancy tried to get up to chuck the pills but Chris caught her and put her back down. She wouldn't even take aspirin. He bandaged the wrong foot. Much to her selfish distress he intends to go back to the hospital for a bit. He told her they should help Muffy. She doesn't want to talk about it. He killed the hospital and asked her to go for a ride to talk to help her. He left. She'll talk to Ada.
Ada raved incoherently to Mac about Lily's prize etc. She explained. He urged her to go. She'll ask Nancy.
Brittany twined herself about Catlin's person. Catlin let on that they got along really thrillingly together and she couldn't get enough of him. Tommy Lee has a rich friend he wants to lend her to for money. Catlin stopped him so as to keep her all to himself. He suggested Tommy Lee leave them alone. Tommy Lee offered them a little bottle of pills to really make the private party. Catlin eyed them warily. Tommy Lee said he'd leave as soon as they'd taken them. He wants to drink. Catlin hesitated. He said a few cryptic things. ("You know I love talking to you, Roy. It's like trying to figure out a puzzle. 'What did he say?'") and told him a friend of his had been knocked off by taking unidentified pills. Tommy Lee said he'd have his drink and leave. Brittany pressed close to Catlin to whisper softly the rich man might be the Man. Catlin told Tommy Lee they wanted to be alone. Tommy Lee made himself comfortable.
Michaud and Sally dropped by the Northwoods Inn for business. Felicia was interested and suspicious of Michaud's motives because of the look in his eye. Michaud finds Sally intriguingly American. She is sincere and direct. She wants to know about him. He's never been married but he's been in love. (Albert was married.)
Felicia: I wonder if I should be worried. Zane: No, don't worry, my cooking's never killed anybody yet. Felicia: Not THAT, THEM. Zane: WHO? (She indicated Michaud and Sally.) Oh. Felicia: YEAH. He told her to stay out of it. She visited the table to offer herself if they need anything. She told Zane to look at Michaud's look. He told her not to get involved. She said she only got involved when people needed her. he distracted her with the fish. She told him he had a heart as big as all outdoors (we'd best measure him).
Michaud reminded Sallye of the first time he'd seen her. She was glowing. WHY? She thought about being roughed up in the car with Catlin and told him it had been his imagination. He wants to capture that excitement. He wants to focus her energy. She has to talk to Catlin.
Ada told Nancy. Nancy gave her blessing. Ada gave in on condition Nancy tell her what had been bothering her.
Michaud and Sally chatted with Zane and Felicia on the way out. Felicia is suspicious of Michaud's interest in Sally, married woman. Zane firmly discussed desserts.
Nancy was evasive but eventually said she wasn't sure about dating Chris. Ada thinks it'll be good for her. Nancy feels unfaithful. Ada says she has to get on with her life. Nancy gave in.
Catlin glared at Tommy Lee. He and Brittany don't want drinks. They want him to leave. Tommy Lee chatted about how he couldn't figure Catlin who doesn't fit into any kind of people. Catlin thinks Tommy Lee's infringing on his time. He kissed Brittany rather a lot to drive his point home. "You'll excuse me if I don't see you to the door."
Nancy considered flushing the pills but decided to keep them in case of emergency.
Sally was pleased to find flowers she thought were from Catlin. They turned out to be from Michaud. She answered the phone eagerly. It was Aunt Liz asking after Catlin. Sally's worried.
Catlin and Brittany went at it enthusiastically for Tommy Lee's benefit. Tommy Lee let himself out. They paused only for Catlin to comment on the lack of audience before he HIT THE SHERIFF OF NOTTINGHAM AGAIN. She pried him loose and said they hadn't time now. Another time. YOU CREEP said I. WORSE THAN CREEP.
