ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

July 31, 1985

Kathleen and Peter discussed her coverage of Lesoleil. He wants a profile of Michaud. She says it can't be got. He made snide remarks about Cass. She stood up for him. He called him a 'self-serving parasite'. Enter Cass.

Tom's baby is viable. 32 weeks. It stands a chance. Carter's thrilled. The doctor wants to make sure the fetus is developing properly.

Marley wants to fool people. She wants to know what it's like to be Victoria. She suggested they got to Galesburg together. Victoria vetoed the idea vehemently. Marley backed off in surprise. Victoria borrowed the brooch. Marley kept on about how Victoria looked like her in that dress and asked if she hadn't ever wondered what it was like to BE MARLEY. Victoria most emphatically had not. Bridget was heard approaching and an excitable Marley pushed Victoria into the closet and pretended to be her to Bridget. She [Bridget] was disapproving of Victoria [Marley]’s attitude. Marley said she was fed up and intended to return to Illinois. Victoria revealed herself and said it was stupid and told Marley they could get in trouble and stormed out. Marley wrung her hands and said apologetically she hadn’t intended to upset her.

The fetus is A-OK. The Todds and the doctor are pleased. They don’t know which gender. Tom asked the doctor about being a mother and a doctor. The doctor herself manages. Don’t worry. Carter made a secret phone call to Quinn and Grant to say all was well.

Cass and Peter took stabs at each other (“Cass, you’re a legend in your own mind.”) Cass tried to drag the Sally aspect into it. Peter kept calling him Winnie. Cass called him Lovie in retaliation. Kathleen went to get ready for her meeting with Cass. Peter told Cass he knew the meeting was just a pitiful excuse to be alone with Kathleen. Cass said she didn’t need his crummy job and would in fact quit at his say-so. Exit Cass.

Nancy told Muffy she didn’t want any more stuff. Enter Chris desperate for her help. She said she was busy having to wrap a present and PUT ON A BOW. He said he’d be moving out soon and he’d like a woman’s touch to help him find a new place. She agreed if he’d let her throw him a housewarming party. He agreed if she’d keep it small – the two of them. They went to wrap the present.

Donna was impressed by Victoria’s likeness to Marley. She did have to adjust the brooch though. Victoria asked to be taught by Donna how to behave correctly. Donna was wildly flattered and said she was a Love regardless. Victoria said she’d be just like her someday.

Kathleen asked Cass about Lesoleil. He did his best to be agreeable and kind. Allaying her fears and gazing at her enthralled. She’s worried. He doesn’t want to spoil the surprise. She will succeed.

Wear less makeup, Victoria. Victoria withdrew and told Donna about Nancy and everything. Donne said she’d speak to Nancy right now. Exit Donna. Enter Peter who had been listening at the door and told Victoria not to abuse the privilege of having Donna at one’s beck and call. “Oh, don’t worry UNCLE PETER. I plan on learning a lot from you too.”

Grant Quinn and Lily are preparing a party for the Mr & Mrs Carter Todds. Enter the young couple. Everybody’s happy. Lily remembered she had to call the bakery to have the cake delivered. Grant read her the number byt the radio’s on full volume with the announcer giving the station number to win a cross-Canand trip. So Lily dialed that by mistake. She got through and after some suspicious cross-talk started answering 50 trivia questions. With the help of the gathering. Enter Jake with a tale of woe – his car is dead. Carter suggested he get a used motorcycle through Dee for $250.

Nancy is being carried about the Corys after having fallen up a flight of steps at one of the prospective Chapin dwellings and twisted her ankle. Chris put her down on the couch (sitting underneath her). He said it was a bad sprain so she couldn’t go to Tom’s party. (Good news and bad news, he said.) “What’s the GOOD news?” “The good news is if you’re a good patient the doctor will keep you company.” “That’s the good news?” “Isn’t that enough?”

Victoria told Marley Galesburg was a foul hole in the ground and too depressing for inspection. Marley suggested she come with her to a Swiss school friend [Janie]’s cottage on Lake Michigan for a vacation. She told her Donna hadn’t been thrilled by Ben – perhaps because he was so paternal (if you see what I mean). She confessed she was still a virgin and asked Victoria about not being and the boy she’d loved. Victoria was non-committal. She said it was a long time ago and he lived far away. Marley suggested they look him up in Galesburg. Victoria told her to shut up about it and stomped out.

Donna apologized to Nancy thereby reminding her that she wasn’t depressed just now and had some catching up to do. Donna pointed out Victoria had led a rotten life and she and Marley were wildly lucky by comparison. Nancy doesn’t feel lucky.

Lily got a lot of answers, some by fluke. Enter Ada bearing a gift and news of Nancy’s injury. She was invited to stay and got an answer.

Marley ran into Bridget to Bridget’s confusion (she wasn’t sure which it was). When she got it sorted out she maintained she’d been sure all along and told her not to go wearing Victoria’s clothes. She told her they were different people and she shouldn’t go taking what little Victoria had from her. Marley said she HAD fooled Bridget for an instant in her room but Bridget snapped that she hadn’t. Marley acted about 12 and sounded disappointed. “For real?” Bridget was firm and left. Peter appeared and took Marley for Vic. She behaved in a Victorian fashion and left. He looked after her strangely so I’m not sure if he knew or not. She was pleased.

Lily’s down to the last question. After much agony Ada supplied the answer. Lily has won the Canadian trip for two.

Kathleen’s having a good time. She’s willing to admit it could be a result of the company she’s keeping. She had to fast before the visualization to rid her system of impurities. They’re getting along well. They’re being sweet and kind and sincere (for them).

Down in the meadow in the itty bitty pool swam three little fishies and the mama fishy too swim said the mama fishy swim if you can and they swam and they swam all over the dam. Celebratory song. (Subject of the final question.) The trip ends up at the musical festival in Banff. Lily wants Ada to be the second person. Ada keeps saying NO. Jake’s calling Marley in the background to get her to come over.

Marley put on Victoria’s denim jacket and found in the pocket a bus ticket from Lassiter Pennsylvania. NOT GALESBURG.
