Patchy, cloudy fog greeted us as we left the hut after breakfast. A short walk brought us past the top of the gondola and then a climb up a scree slope to the start of the ferrata. The lift was just starting up as we clipped into the first wire so we figured we would be alone for this climb. The route started off with some spicy vertical climbing but then eased off to mostly scrambling and some fun exposed traverses. One overhanging bit required a bit of grunt work to surpass. A couple of steep ladders up a vertical pitch where leaving the second ladder proved to be a very awkward and off balance move. The upper slopes of the mountain was just a scree walk, which brought us up to the summit, where views fleeted in and out as the patchy clouds encompassed us.

Summit cross in sight.

We had lunch by an elaborate cross and then followed the hiking trail down. This was just scree until the very end which had a vertical section of down climbing, aided by a long stemple ladder for most of it. We decided to cut directly across the tundra back to the hut and came across a couple of massive wooden lounge chairs, so we stopped for a second long lunch here. I finally went back to the hut for coffee while Kat decided to spend the rest of the afternoon reading on the chairs.
