Temporary Homepage of Greg Taylor

Currently Under Construction...
(...not unlike my life! Last updated June 2008 :)

So, who is this Greg guy anyway? Well, as of 2001 a graduate from the Mathematics program at the University of Waterloo. Computer Science major, Music minor. As of 2003, owner of a B. Ed from Queen's University. And as of 2008, an actual full time teacher of math (and stuff) in Ottawa, Ontario! That would be the capital of Canada, by the way. I've also been involved in drama, roleplay, various teaching and anime committees, I have a wonderful french fiance, and I write in my spare time. (The insanity comes from keeping everything coordinated.)

I also have two younger sisters, but currently don't have links to webpages about them. They've now graduated from University, which I think makes me officially "old". Oh, and if you're working where 'hologrami' comes from, it's from the words 'hologram' (my nick/handle back in my Quantum Leap days) and 'ami' (who was once my favorite anime character; see below).

Roleplay subsection

New year, new subsection; besides, most of what I've been doing on the 'net for the last five years really does come down to roleplay. In the past, I have played the following parts:

Anime subsection

As mentioned above, I've had an interest in anime since December of 1995 at UofW. I try to help out locally with SOAP and their con, AC Cubed, including running the fanfic contest in 2007. I've also found and re-uploaded my old university page of Ami-chan No Hatsukoi, from Mercury Central. Ah, memories.

So, with respect to anime, what would I recommend? Well...
*My current obsession is with Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. Which you may never see now that Geneon has folded, but it has cool English-talking staves, then German-talking weapons (in the sequel MGLN A's), then Italian-named villains (in the sequel MGLN StrikerS). About the only downside (for me) is the lolis. The last series is probably the weakest, simply because of the pacing for what they were cramming into it; I've decided the second is the best.
*My gateway anime series was Sailor Moon, as it was out dubbed in early 1996, the same time as the founding of BSSM MUX. (I still own many Ami Mizuno plushies from that era...)
*My favourite anime series is still Marmalade Boy. I own the entire series, and it was one of the first shows I ever saw subtitled, in Ottawa in 1996.
*Favourite classic series': Fushigi Yuugi. Read or Die (the OAV; still good but a bit disappointing was the ROD TV series). Martian Successor Nadesico.
*Favourite recent series': Gurren-Lagann (go Yomako!).

Creativity Subsection

Following are links to some of the stuff I've written... a lot of it fanfics, and most of them Sailor Moon related. This is simply because I was able to write more in the late 90s, when it was popular. And while I have produced some original works since, I don't have the space to store them online. (In one of these, a story written in episodic format about teenagers who discover a time machine, I've surpassed 300 pages. Feel free to ask me about it!) Note: Included in the list below is a link to my "Anime North" award winning fanfiction based on the Read or Die OAV. I have also been a judge for "Anime North" (2005) and "AC Cubed" (2006/07).
