Canada has a rich and varied music scene but lots of great artists don't get the exposure that I think they deserve.

Music is such a competitive business that it's not surprising that there isn't enough airtime to go around. Add to that the fact that Folk Music doesn't get much exposure at the best of times and you'll know why I feel the need to do my bit.

I could list all of my favourite artists here but, well, I don't need to. Gene Wilburn has already done that at his WONDERFUL web site, Northern Journey. I believe the web site was begun to promote his book, Northern Journey - A Guide to Canadian Folk Music, but it has grown over the years and is the most comprehensive site I've found dealing with the Canadian folk music scene. It has everything from reviews to festival listings to artist web sites and more. I highly recommend it.

Another resource I use extensively is the Dirty Linen magazine web site, especially the Gig Guide which has a comprehensive concert listing that you can search by artist or state/province and it also has a listing of festivals, worldwide.

And if you are looking for a concert you could also try these sites:
