Believe
it or not, I come from a fairly normal family and I'd like to take a minute
to introduce you to them. Dad was raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and my
mom was brought up in Sudbury so although we lived in Nova Scotia when I was
a kid, summers were often spent with grandparents in Ontario. In 1989 the rest
of the family moved to Dad's hometown while I remained behind to attend university
in Nova Scotia. In 1993 I joined them for 'a year or two'. I'm still here!
My
mom, Jean, is pretty cool but, "shhhhhh", don't let her hear me say that. Dad
might benefit from my employment at a fishing lodge but mom worries ... I know
she'd prefer I get a "real" job. All in good time, mom. All in good time.
This is my Dad,
Bob, and if I could have found a picture of him with a fishing rod, that is
what I would have posted. In the summertime he gets out fishing whenever he
is able and I have come to believe he had an ulterior motive when he suggested
I find summer employment at a fishing lodge, all those years ago. I don't
think he expected it to last as long as it has.
....
and let's not forget my favourite brother, Steven! What's that you say? Hmm
... you're right He's my only brother ... but I still kind of like him. He isn't
really a pilot but his former boss used to let him take the wheel sometimes
when they were flying the Beaver to camp. Yes, my brother also worked at a fishing
lodge but now he's training to be a chef. See what I mean about my dad having
an ulterior motive when he suggested summer employment for us?
Then
there's Wellington .... He's been with me through thick and thin for the past
ten years - longer than any of my boyfriends. How do you think a psychologist
might interpret that?
