ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

July 30, 1985

Felicia: Of COURSE I'm glad to see you. But you have to admit it is a little EARLY, don't you think? Cass: Genius never sleeps. Felicia: Yeah, right. All right, what trouble have you gotten me into this time? Cass: No, Felicia, my plan worked. Felicia: Are you talking about what I think you're talking about? Cass: Michaud did swear me to secrecy. Felicia: Yes, but since I own half of the company that you work for -- Cass: And since I'm going to need your help over the next couple of weeks I think I can tell you. But only you. Felicia: Scout's honour. Cass: You were never a scout a day in your life, y'toikey. Felicia: NEVER MIND. Just tell me, come on. Cass waxed eloquent about Kathleen.

Michaud doesn't want to go to the office. He's hoping for a special visitor.

Sally's mildly put out because the work allotted her has little or nothing to do with the art department. Peter is bitter because of the mounds of paperwork Jamie left him before biffing off. Sally yelled to a knock at the door to come in. When it went unheeded she opened the door to check it out. She found a single sunflower and burst out laughing.

Marley had a nightmare and woke up whimpering. She asked Donna about her father. (I cheered. Lustily.) "You were dreaming about your father?" "I don't know but when I woke up I wanted to know about him." "Well I can assure you that he was not the sort of man who would induce the sort of dreams that you've been having." "Tell me about him." He was their stableboy and very strong and very sweet. His name was Michael. (Not what I would have expected. "Tom" or "Spot" or "Rover" maybe. Actually Mark is most likely. But Michael he is and Michael he will remain.) Marley's put out that Donna never tried to find him. Donna doesn't want all this to change Marley. Marley thinks the life she's led has been too sheltered and she should change.

Victoria's in a good mood in spite of the trials of breakfast in bed. She's out to breakfast with Jake. She thinks she should change and behave PROPERLY. He doesn't want her to change. His car is dead. He can't afford to fix it. She fled.

Peter: A forget-me-not from your absentee husband? (He queried that. Possibly sardonically. I don't know how anyone stands it. Whenever I see him I want to smack him cross-eyed but Taylor Miller restrains herself admirably and strikes no one. My fingers itch to belt him one. It gnaws at my vitals this unfulfilled desire.) Sally: NO, it's a business card. Peter: All right, speaking of business why don't we get down to some? I'm running way behind schedule. Sally: So go. Peter: Sally, didn't you read that little list of chores that Jamie left you? Sally: Yes I did. And they have absolutely nothing to do with my department. Peter: I agree. And I would have done something about it but by the time I had seen it Jamie was already winging his merry way to the coast. I would never have wasted your artistic talents like that, you know that. Sally: Oh, I'm SURE you wouldn't have. Peter: Sally, why don't we just start with the budgets? Sally: Because this is the budget for the traffic department and this is a budget for the photo lab. And if I don't have to remind you I run the art department. Peter: I know that. Take it up with Jamie. Sally: No. Peter: Your work in the art department is already finished. Your work is done. Sally: That's NOT MY PROBLEM. Did Mac approve it? Peter: No. Mac thinks it's just fine if you sit in your office and doodle all day. Heaven forbid a family member should overtax herself. Sally: Well that just makes me feel great. Thanks, Peter. Peter: Are you refusing to work outside your department? Sally: Not if Mac doesn't want me to. And since my work is done and you're running late -- Peter: Right. Sally: You're gone. Peter: Where are you going, Sally? Sally: Oh, don't worry, Peter, I'll be back. I'm just going to talk to someone who takes me seriously. And I might add I'm looking forward to it.

Cass told Felicia he was going to need her help to groom Kathleen as the Lesoleil Woman. Cass: Felicia, I'm going to tell you something that you may find hard to believe. Felicia: From you? I doubt it. Cass: Sometimes Kathleen and I don't see eye to eye. Felicia: NO. Cass: I know it's hard to fathom, but yes, it's true. For instance Kathleen gets a little testy when I talk to her about going through the Lesoleil process. Felicia: Well, darling, I think that's because most women hate to admit that they're less than perfect. Cass: But she's ALMOST perfect. I mean she has that inner light, that RADIANCE that Michaud was talking about. Felicia: So what you want me to do is convince her to go through this process, is that right? Cass: Exactly. Even though she thinks she's doing this only for the Brava article we have to make sure it sticks. Felicia: Sticks? (I guess it's like Sally's wedding.) Cass; Yeah, sticks. Of course that won't be too hard. Felicia: NO, of course not, after all you did mention all of that inner beauty. Cass: Inner beauty GLOWING, Felicia. Felicia: Glowing. Cass: SHINING through every pore. Last night was HER night. The house lights were out and the candles were and there she was. She was just beauty personified. Enter Kathleen dripping with sweat clad in a Smiley's t-shirt and running things demanding to know what he wanted with her. Felicia buzzed off to get coffee. Kathleen and Cass were soon arguing at the tops of their lungs. "DOES EVERYBODY WHO GOES TO LESOLEIL GO THROUGH THIS?" "NO, YOU JERK, I'M GIVING YOU EXTRA HELP." "PLEASE DON'T DO ME ANY FAVOURS I CAN MUDDLE THROUGH THIS ON MY OWN." "YEAH, JUST LIKE YOU'RE DOING WITH THIS DANIEL GUY." More quarreling. Felicia returned and took over calming Kathleen down and slugging Cass to make him behave.

Larry dropped by Catlin's room much to his agitation. Catlin doesn't understand about the lab. It worries Larry. Britt hasn't heard anything so he'll ask Adrienne when he takes her to the Northwoods Inn for lunch. Catlin has an unholy interest in Larry's extramarital sex life (he's worried it might spring into existence) and doesn't think flaunting the girlfriend in Bay City society is a very good idea if he doesn't want to upset Clarice. Larry just wants to put Adrienne at her ease. Catlin wants to know if he intends to seduce her secrets out of her (to put it bluntly. He hovered around the point not liking to be too specific). Larry said his personal life was off limits. Catlin calmed down and sympathized. Larry left.

Michaud says Sally is a unique woman. Daphne (for this reason) intends to plant herself firmly at Michaud's side in case Sally drops by as invited. (Michaud accused her of seeing green. She said almost cryptically that there had been countless unique women in his life.) Sally was shown in. Let's chat. Michaud offered her a challenge. She was reluctant but he said he could tell she wanted one -- even the light in her eyes said she was looking for something more. She said that might be true PROFESSIONALLY. Daphne leaped in asking questions about Sally's married state "Are you newlywed?" Daphne is strangely eager to meet Sally's better half. But he's away. Sally told them about her son Kevin. Michaud said working for him needn't interfere with her home life. Daphne said Sally was happy at Cory but Sally admitted not blissfully so and she would like a challenge. Michaud said he knew her and that she'd appreciate the sunflower as opposed to roses. She confessed she had laughed. The butler spilled scalding tea on himself and with no regard for personal safety Sally sprang to his aid.

Victoria dropped by the Complex. She expressed interest in it. She likes it. She told Peter she needed $20,000 for a friend. He won't release the trust fund. She said Marley could do it if she wanted. He said Marley wouldn't and she knew the responsibilities of money. She got upset at his avuncular bossiness. He said she was family now and would be treated as such. She said she'd learn it all.

Larry and Adrienne are at the Northwoods Inn. Wallingford: Are you sure you won't be expecting a third party -- YOUR WIFE? Larry: That will be all, Wallingford. Wallingford: ENJOY YOUR LUNCH. IF YOU CAN. Adrienne thinks Wallingford's looking at them funny. Larry: Let him look. It's a nice view. Adrienne: This sure isn't the Plains Motel. Larry: What's the matter? Doesn't Tommy Lee take you out to nice places? Adrienne: Oh, he's not one for fancy places. He says waiters in tuxedos make him nervous -- he can't tell when they're packing. Larry: Quite a romantic. Vague flirtation. Adrienne told him Tommy Lee thought Roy was trouble. He doesn't stay put in spite of being donated that deaf girl. (Larry said to himself "Well how do you like that -- and HE'S been on MY back.") She told him the Man was delivering the next shipment himself. Big thrill. Big nervous-making trip. Adrienne said the day Larry walked into her bar was a real lucky day.

Peter told Donna about Victoria. She thinks he's too harsh with her. He hung upon her. Enter Marley in a weird mood contemplating Victoria's superior experience. And transition to Loveliness. Marley needs more time to adjust. Donna's going shopping. Marley's going to think.

Michaud told Sally they had a very important place for her at Lesoleil overriding objections right and left. She'll think about it. Au revoir. He says it's business. Daphne wishes that were all.

Marley asked Jake what he thought about Victoria. HE said she was tougher. (Marley behaves as though Jake knows about motherhood.) Marley is sweet and innocent. They're both strong.

Wally told Felicia about Larry's "questionable number -- good legs though." Felicia said that broke her heart. Wally admitted Larry didn't seem too thrilled either. Enter Cass asking how's it going. Wallingford was willing to speak at great length about lumbago but Cass ignored him and asked Felicia about Kathleen. She's been placated. Cass spoke at great length about Kathleen's intractability and Lesoleil. He very rudely got rid of Wally (hurting him slightly in the process) to talk secrets with Felicia. He said Kathleen would have no choice but to love him after this and started babbling about his career to cover up the slip. She kissed him fondly.

Daphne thinks Michaud is manipulating Sally cleverly. She's seen this before. He spoke of her butler nursing with reverence. SALLY IS UNLIKE ANYONE HE'S EVER ENCOUNTERED.

Kathleen: Peter in charge is NOT the best news of the day. Sally: Well at least you have to edit Brava and you're going to start the Lesoleil process. Kathleen: Well if Michaud were handling that personally I might find it more enjoyable. Sally: He certainly does have a way with women. Kathleen: Listen, I'm sorry they cut down your work here. It wasn't my decision. Sally: Oh, I know that. And I know it's just temporary. I have to wait it out for a while. It's just -- Enter Peter. Peter: LADIES. I won't keep you waiting. I'm already behind for the whole week. Sally: Aw. Jamie left town unexpectedly and Petey had to take charge. Tsk tsk tsk. Peter: Grumblings of mutiny from the ranks. Well here's the list of things that I need to get done. If you have any questions you can ask my secretary. Exit Peter. Kathleen: Peter. PETER. PETER WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS. Sally: Oh, Kathleen. Kathleen, don't interrupt him. He's got to do something IMPORTANT like maybe count the paperclips in the supply closet. Kathleen: So he leaves a LIST of chores for us girls to do. Sally: Yop. Kathleen: The AUDACITY. Sally: You know I had an interesting job interview this morning. Kathleen: With Michaud? Sally: Uh-uh. Of course he would be hard pressed to top some of the things I've got going for me here. Kathleen: I don't know -- "SALLY PULL THE GALLANT FILE" -- I don't think that could be any more exciting than this. Sally: THIS is perfect. They regarded their duty sheets in bafflement and incredulity.

Donna apologised to Victoria for Peter's abruptness. She told her she had a better indirect method of getting around Peter. Henceforth things from Peter are more easily got via Donna. Donna has bought a lot of clothes for Victoria. Off we go to try it on. Borrow Marley's antique brooch.

Marley contemplated a lipstick raising it to her lips.

Sally thought about Michaud's offer. She'll talk to Catlin before deciding.

Catlin's thrilled the Man is coming. Larry told him Tommy Lee thought he was trouble and he wasn't to see Sally any more.

Victoria went to Marley's room. She was let in by a Marley transformed -- a Marley made up and clad in Victoria's clothes.
