Amanda and Sam sniped at each other about Jamie and Cheryl. Amanda had managed to get a big fish to show his painting, but it was to be a surprise. Since he's mad at her, he won't go out with her. She thought of someone he couldn't say no to.
They set up Tops for Cass and Nicole's engagement party. Felicia teased Nicole about her spending the night bei Cassimpostor. Nicole threatened to stick a lovebird up her nose. Michael appeared. Nicole advised Donna to tell him she was pregnant. Michael was surprised enough to hear about Nicole's engagement.
The redhead — Monique — stomped up to Cassimpostor's room to accuse him of having slept with Nicole. He explained what had happened. She doesn't trust him. They're after Nicole's money. Tais-toi, Monique. C'est assez déjà. He kissed her convincingly.
Amanda phoned Sam and ordered him to go to Chicago at Rachel's request to see a gallery opening. He wasn't thrilled but she leaned heavily. She was pleased when he agreed to go, certain he'd want to celebrate with someone when it was over. She went to get ready.
Sam phoned Cheryl.
Nicole assured Michael it was just business. He offered her money. Donna dashed over and told him all his assets were frozen because of the divorce. [Do they do that? How can such a tycoon operate?] Michael said he was aware of that. Donna retreated. Nicole refused the money anyway. She told him to go worry about his own marriage. He said he didn't have one. That Old Carrot came up and mocked Michael for being deceived by Nicole's charade. Michael headed for Cassimpostor's suite to chat with the fiancés.
Passionate kissing. Monique gets bored. All she does is sit in a penthouse all day, not having sex with Cassimpostor. He assured her Nicole meant nothing to him. Nicole knocked. Michael made suspicious noises.
Mary led That Old Carrot very neatly into a trap. She asked if he was celebrating his daughter's happiness, and he tut-tutted that she too had been taken in. She said everyone was happy about it except him and one other person. He praised this other person's intellect and asked who it was. She beamed and said, "Vince." She walked off with Dawn. That Old Carrot has not yet been able to bring himself to believe that Peter has forsaken him. He turned to him for comfort and support. Donna asked Peter to be with her and Nicole tonight.
Amanda was crushed when Sam helped Cheryl out of the limo she'd sent for him. The first person he ran into was a columnist from Brava, sent by Rachel, so he realized Amanda had used Rachel's name to get him there. When he found Amanda he yelled at her. She was on the verge of tears when he saw his painting. When she fled, he tried to pursue her, but the gallery owner pounced on him and insisted on raving about him excessively. It was difficult for him to get away.
Donna and That Old Carrot stated their cases. Victoria came up and cut Donna.
Cassimpostor got rid of Monique and let Nicole and Michael in through her suite. Nicole adjusted his disarranged tie. Cassimpostor assured Michael he was marrying Nicole out of gratitude, not greed. Michael refused an invitation to the wedding because of Donna. Nicole said they loved each other. Michael said Donna didn't love him. Nicole prepared to tell him Donna was pregnant, but Donna walked in and interrupted. Nicole left them alone. Michael told Donna he couldn't live with someone he couldn't trust. She asked him to support Nicole against That Old Carrot by attending the wedding. He fussed about their wedding vows being as much a lie as Cass and Nicole's would be and walked out. She thought about trying to get pregnant.
Michael joined Victoria in Tops. [Oddly, he said that Donna would be right down.]
Donna appeared and made a speech about love. The pianist stared. Peter joined in the applause.
Sam caught up to Amanda. They argued about how little Jamie and Cheryl meant to them. He told her to climb up a building. [Oh.]
Monique observed Cassimpostor being convincing with Nicole. Cheryl joined Mary. Donna asked Victoria to support Nicole. Michael proposed a toast to the happy couple and left with Victoria. Peter toasted Cass and Nicole. That Old Carrot told him he'd pay. Cassimpostor kissed Nicole and gazed at Monique.
On a fire escape Sam told Amanda how wonderful her support was. No one ever seemed to realize how much his art meant to him before. He said he'd been running because she made him so nervous. Kissing. He suggested they go someplace private. So they climbed in the nearest window with intent to have sex. [Would I kid you? They just happened to be outside an empty hotel room equipped with candles and wine. I could throw up.]
Cassimpostor formally announced their loving engagement. Everyone cheered. The date is set for the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Monique returned home. She lives with vast quantities of security and a Cass who does bare-chested sit-ups.
