ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

February 20, 1985

Donna won't let Marley go to work.

Peter wants Kathleen's answer. Cass wandered in. Peter told him what Kathleen was deciding.

Sally: Honey, you've got to change your mind. We can't just call off this wedding.

Carl's visiting with Rachel. He wishes their relationship weren't so adversarial. He feels that Mac comes between them. He wants that to change. He wants her to see her husband with open eyes.

Catlin: Sally, it's too late. Sally: No, it's not. We can go ahead with the plan -- Catlin: Honey, we already talked about all this. Sally: No, you talked and I listened. Now, you're not breaking a date for the movies, honey, this is our WEDDING. Catlin: Don't you think I know what I'm doing to you? I want our wedding to be a celebration. I want it to be the happiest wedding anyone's ever seen. Sally: Honey, I want to be your wife. NOW. Catlin: No. No. Not while this is hanging over my head. Sally: If you're going to Cheyenne, if you're going to leave now, I want us to be MARRIED. Catlin: I'm not making myself clear. Getting married to you is the most important thing to me. I have to do it right. Sally: Catlin -- Catlin: No, so let me do this, let me handle it, let me take care of it. Before we get married. Sally: Why doesn't Larry do something? Catlin: Because it's my problem. It's not Larry's problem. Sally: All right then, I'll go with you. Catlin: NO. Sally: Catlin, you're making this very difficult. Catlin: Well I've thought about this -- Sally: SO HAVE I. Catlin: I know what I'm doing. I might have to go to jail. Sally: Well we'll deal with it. You know that I'm going to wait for you. Catlin: Course I do. You can wait here, though. With Kevin. Sally: Oh, KEVIN. Catlin: I already took you away from him once, I'm not going to do it again. Sally: Honey. Catlin: Look, I'll make this up to you. I SWEAR I'll make this up to you. Sally: There's nothing to make up. And I'm not mad at you. You know that, don't you? Catlin: I know. Sally: I'm just sad. Now listen, I want you to do something for me -- Catlin: Sally -- Sally: And it's VERY IMPORTANT. I want you to talk to Peter. Catlin: Sally -- Sally: NO, you've got to at least talk to him. Catlin: All right, I'll talk to Peter. Sally: THANK you. Now look, I'm going to go back to the house and make some phone calls now. Catlin: Do you want me to do that? Sally: No, honey, that's all right, they're all friends, they'll understand. Catlin: There's one person I do have to talk to, though. Maybe you can arrange it for me. Sally: Who? Catlin: Kevin. He's got to know what's going on and he's got to hear it from me.

Kathleen asked to be allowed until the end of today to decide. Peter left. Kathleen thanked Cass for not taking fits. And being a gentleman. He asked why she was so surprised whenever he behaved decently. She said she should've told him Peter'd asked her to be head of Brava. He agreed but he forgives her. He told her she'd find it difficult to turn down. She told him she wanted to talk to him before she accepted.

Donna got a little hysterical. She's determined to have Marley go to the cotillion. She said that a minor may not be employed without the consent of her guardian and she has to give the job up. Marley cried and called Maisie.

Dee writing in her diary (is someone going to find it?). She wants to do this [be a deb] for Cass. She committed to writing everything nice he's done or said. Felicia & Wallingford arrived. Dee went to her room. They're discussing everything. Ain't love grand says Felicia.

Kathleen and Cass argued about her keeping Brava a secret. Kathleen: Just because you and I are -- you know -- Cass: Oh, that's lovely. Sing it from the highest tree: Cass and I are -- YOU KNOW. Kathleen: YOU KNOW VERY WELL WHAT I MEAN. He told her she worked for him (you bimbo he said) and raved about Lee Iacoca (should there be a few more C's in there?) and she shoulda told him. She said she would've and he wasn't to call her a bimbo. She said she wasn't leaving him she'd do both and said she hadn't the morals of an alley cat (like Cecile) and wouldn't be stolen away from him (like Cecile). He said he wouldn't put it past Peter to be trying to steal her away (nor would I. The man is capable of anything and everything underhanded). Kathleen said she was QUALIFIED. They argued. He told her he forbade her to take the job because he didn't want her to give up the best thing that had ever happened to her (namely Cass Winthrop). She threw him out. He wished her & Peter all happiness.

Maisie wants to talk to Donna alone. Donna told her Smiley's was not an appropriate place for a young girl like Marley to work. Maisie told her she knew about the money and she wouldn't tell but they had to be honest about Marley. She said everybody but Marley thought she [Marley] was really sweet and Marley needed to work to bolster her self-esteem. And she & Perry would keep an eye on her. Donna saw reason. Maisie said Marley was lucky to have her and she could drop by too and have pie & coffee on the house. Marley was summoned and told. She's thrilled.

Cass told Felicia about Kathleen. He's mad she knew first. He wanted her to talk to Kathleen. (Cass: Peter and his stupid job offer are messing up the best thing that's ever happened to me, I mean to her.) He raved about the Titanic and the Hindenberg and Felicia's professed policy of non-interference. Dee appeared, vair' chipper and rarin' to go. Cass is not in the mood for teaching. He left. Dee's fogged. Felicia doesn't trust Peter. Felicia: I guess I'd better go have a little talk with her. Wallingford: I thought you said you didn't want to interfere. Felicia: Oh, I just SAY things like that. I don't really THINK them. Wallingford: I hope Kathleen's in better shape than Cass is. Felicia: NO. I hope they're equally suffering. Wish me luck. I should be out looking for a MAN. Dee says it's too bad that Cass & Kathleen aren't getting along too good.

Carl and Rachel. Carl entertaining her with something starring Mackenzie Cory. (???) Mac looking for Felicia it seems. Oh. It's a videotape of the occurrence at the studio at New Year's? Yes. Rachel says she loves him. And to see him crawl about on the floor ignominiously doesn't disturb her. Carl says he's lost her though and she's here alone with HIM. Him Carl.

Peter being ingratiating to Mac. Catlin arrived to see Peter. He told Mac they'd postponed the wedding. Mac left. Peter told him he was doing the right thing. He'll go with him to Cheyenne. Catlin apologized for the things he'd said to him before. Peter said it was all right and what are friends for. (Ick. Yuck. Blech.)

Cass returned. He's still not in the mood to teach Dee but he's friendlier. He told her not to mind about Donna. And they'd hit up the Corys. Dee left. Cass complained to Wallingford about Kathleen. Wallingford sided with Kathleen, sort of. At least he told Cass he was a jerk and it didn't matter who was RIGHT (Cass maintains he was). Cass: Do you realise what would happen if people really, actually believed that? WHOLE CIVILIZATIONS would crumble. Wallingford: People would get along. Cass: LAWYERS would be out of work. Wallingford: You and Kathleen would be together. Cass: OH, YEAH? Boy, Wallingford, you sure have some stupid ideas.

Kathleen in tears calling to accept the Cory job. Talking to herself. Felicia arrived. Kathleen raved about Cass' arrogance etc. Felicia told her Cass was FORLORN. She presented Cass' side. Kathleen said he was jealous of Peter. Felicia said they should kill him. She's going to give her a Wallingford talking to.

Carl says he's done nothing to her. She says he's taken her freedom. He said he'd give her anything she wanted. He raved about her skin. He offered her diamonds & rubies. (Actual ones there, not the promise of.) She said please don't touch me. He said p'r'aps he'd been wrong and she didn't like being treated as a lady but they could change that.

Donna talking to herself about Marley's father. He was a stableboy. Marley called from Smiley's to thank her and say she wouldn't besmirch the Love name. She thanked Maisie. Jake arrived. With myriad photos of kids. Marley liked them and wandered off. Maisie told Jake she was Ben's girl.

Catlin told Kevin. It was the least painful chat with Kevin in a long time (from my point of view, tennyrate). Kevin: Are you going someplace? Catlin: Yeah, I have to go away for a little while, to a place called CHEYENNE. Kevin: Why? Catlin: Come here, I want to talk to you. Now I want to tell you why I have to go away, and why Sally and I aren't getting married when we said we would. When I was in Cheyenne I did something that I'm not very proud of. I lost my temper and I hit a man. Kevin: Like I hit Bobby? Catlin: Sort of. You see, I know that was wrong, but what was worse, was that I ran away. Now I have to go back. Kevin: To apologize? Catlin: Yeah. You see, before I met Sally, I used to run away all the time. But now I don't want to do that any more. So I want to go back and see if I can clear things up. And THAT way I won't have to go away ever again. Because I love Sally and I love you. Kevin: When are you coming back? Catlin: Soon. Kevin: Then you can FINALLY get married? Catlin: Yeah. Then we can FINALLY get married. Sally surfaced. They were on their way out. Kevin went on ahead. Sally's happy. She figures it's all for the best and it'll work out. Catlin followed Kevin.

Kathleen and Cass simultaneously admitted to having been in the wrong. They were on the verge of making up in rather a big way when a delivery boy arrived with the Cory contract for Kathleen. Cass blew his top and retracted his apology. Felicia and Wallingford arrived as he stormed out with Kathleen yelling at him.

Carl told Rachel he wouldn't let her goad him into losing control. He said he'd treat her like a lady and she'd learn to be happy there. She asked him to let her go. He's not about to. She asked for a sketch pad and pencils to pass the time (do I sense a secret message coming on?). He said she'd get them. He told her he'd win in the end.

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT CARL IS DOING AT ALL. WHAT ARE HIS INTENTIONS?

Cass is being a jerk. Why should Felicia be looking for a MAN?

I can just imagine the sheriff doesn't care any more and Peter's just inventive. Guessed that Catlin had at some point in his career socked a cop and took it from there. Letting Catlin supply the details.

I hate these people for being rational. I mean I can't stomp up and down and holler about INJUSTICE and IDIOCY and bash lockers and work myself up into a STATE.

I perused a magazine last night at the Garfield's. Claiming to have Spring & Summer previews. They really went out on a limb with those, boy. They said vague things about the Macachee vendetta. And they said that Catlin and Sally would have lover's quarrels. (I could've told you that. They do allatime. What's the difference between a lover's quarrel and a reg'lar un? Just the participants?)
