ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

June 18, 1985

Kathleen went to the Northwoods Inn for breakfast. Felicia instructed Grant to seat her where she couldn't see the door. She rushed Zane and Wallingford through the dining room (Wallingford in a lovely pith helmet) so she couldn't see them.

Dee and Carter playing chess with Tom as spectator. Dee (previously unacquainted with the game; she calls the pieces "Gizmos") is winning. Enter Quinn, bearing a colour television. Tom and Dee were thrilled. Carter was not.

Liz told Sally Kevin had disappeared. Sally was mildly distressed. She's coming back. Be there in 1/2 hour.

Kevin's unconscious. Britt's worried.

Felicia seems to have commissioned a private dining room-cum-bed. Zane thinks it's insane. Wallingford thinks it's marvelous. Felicia thinks it'll work. Zane said he'd put a lock on the door that could hold a gorilla. Felicia and Wally laughed and reminisced about Caroline & Richard. Zane accused them of matchmaking. He explained the lock and said he didn't like interfering. Felicia paid him no heed and left.

Tom and Dee loved the TV. Quinn was obnoxious to Carter. She said it was a house gift. Actually she was reasonable but in a bitchy tone of voice. Carter was polite. Civil.

The mine is so deep Britt holding Kevin can't get out.

Sally was told where the search had been (she forgave Aunt Liz immediately. So much for never.). She and Liz went to check Smiley's and the cabin. Catlin and Mac went to see if he'd taken the pony. (Cat was the first to think Kevin might be riding.)

Felicia talked to Kathleen about why she wanted the job. She's afraid it's too important to her. Kathleen said if she didn't get the job it could only be because Cass was so underhanded. Kathleen: oh, come on, Felicia, the man has -- faults. Felicia: of course he has faults. We all have faults. Kathleen: but we are talking about a man who cannot function without conniving (good word) and cheating -- Felicia: he's ambitious. I mean there's nothing wrong with that. But he's also intelligent, and charming, and witty. Kathleen: he's no David Letterman. Felicia: he's better looking. Kathleen: than David? Felicia: oh come on. But you got to admit he's handsome. Kathleen: he's no Percy Hammond. Felicia: who is Percy Hammond? Kathleen: a guy I had a crush on in junior high. Wally came to get Felicia because somebody needed her okay on something. Felicia left. Wallingford told Kathleen she sure looked pretty and he'd see her later. Kathleen thought about before the show with Cass.

Mac was called back to the house. Catlin realized that Britt's usual mare was missing and concluded that she wouldn't have taken a horse unless she knew what she was about.

Britt called for help. (it's not Love property so there's no phone. She had to yell.)

Tom and Dee love the TV. Tom realizes that Carter's not thrilled with Quinn. He calmed down and kissed her a lot. Dee, chaperone, expressed mild disapproval. Adrienne called to say she wanted to see Carter and his first run would be tomorrow. He left.

Quinn told Lily all about Carter's unreasonableness in her horrible voice. She thinks it's because she's a woman. Grant thinks they should both straighten up.

Kathleen, left without Felicia, departed for work.

Felicia joined Lily and Quinn. Lily: So, how's it coming? Felicia: The place? Oh, it's getting there. This is going to work, Lily, I'm telling you. Quinn: What place is this? Lily: Felicia had Zane Lindquist put a lock on that private dining room back there. It has an antique bed in it. It only locks from the outside. Quinn: Antique. Felicia: Right. I mean that's why I couldn't spend any more time with Kathleen. I kept running back and forth doing tests. Lily: You know Felicia, that Zane Lindquist is a good-looking man. Felicia: Not bad, is he? Got great hands. Lily: Oooh, yeah. Is Wallingford in there too? Felicia: Of course he is, he's in the thick of it. Quinn: Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. You and Wallingford and Zane Lindquist are testing a bed behind a locked door in the dining room. Felicia: Makes sense to me.

Britt told an unconscious Kevin she'd get out and get a rope and pull him out. She found a cobwebby slightly short ladder and managed it.

Catlin is out riding looking for them. He saw and heard Britt calling down the hole reassuring Kevin. They ran to each other (in gosh-awful slow-motion, no less). He said she could talk. She said her standard "Yep." He said it was great and hugged her off the ground. He asked what had happened. She told him she'd found Kevin. He yelled "Kevin" down the hole. She told him it (I mean he) was unconscious. He went down. She told him to be careful. He picked up Kevin and handed him up to her as he (Kevin) came to. He himself fell down (making him about the hundredth person to fall down the stupid hole. I expect there were skeletons all around. Buried treasure, too.)

Wally: Zane, I was talking about Felicia. Zane: What about her? Wally: Well, she's a sweetheart. Zane: And? Wally: Well, and -- she's a sweetheart, that's all. I just thought you ought to know. Zane: Yeah. Well. Yeah, she's okay. I mean we're friends. Wally: they don't come any better. Zane: And they don't dress any stranger. He said Felicia's plot was wacko. He's afraid she's not too thrilled with him because he didn't rave about her books (Wally looked hopeful to hear it). Felicia appeared. Thrilled and grateful to see the apparatus works.

Sally blames herself. Rachel says that's a waste of time. She wonders why Catlin hasn't come back.

Britt helped pull Catlin out. He put her and Kevin on his horse (where's hers?) and told her to go back. He hurt his knee in the fall. He's glad Kevin's all right and she can talk etc.. She sort of felt his face and he revolting man kissed her revolting palm. She'll send someone back for him. She left. He sat down to wait.

Jimmy and Adrienne think Larry has Willa's stuff. She doesn't want to push him. He thinks she is soft on him. Carter arrived.

Rachel and Mac rejoiced upon the return of Britt. She explained all, particularly about Catlin's knee. Mac sent men to get him. They're taking Kevin to the hospital. He wants Sally.

Lily and Felicia told Zane and Wally about Quinn's misinterpretation of their plan. Wally: Now look I'm going to have a conversation with her tomorrow. I don't want her running around with the wrong impression. Felicia: Oh, Wally, my knight. My-hero. Always trying to protect my reputation. Lily: You need a whole lot of knights to do that. Zane is holding Felicia to the boat-building promise. He bet her plan wouldn't work. $10.

Adrienne wants Carter to guard a bunch of crates of antiques and a lot of "Coffee". For Steve the man at the other end.

Rachel called Sally from the hospital and told her Kevin had been asking for her. She's on her way.

Mac asked Britt about her recovery. She was vague. He supposed it might have been the trauma. Rachel: Oh, Mac, maybe there's hope for me. Maybe just a little trauma and my memory will come back. Catlin was wheeled in on a stretcher (pushed by least three men) (he is also sitting up sort of. I guess he's too long for it to lie down properly). He has no thought for himself, only Kevin's safe return and Sally. Joyce said they were putting Kevin in his own room and someone should be with him. Britt said she'd go (she hadn't looked too thrilled when she stood right next to him and he said nowt to her and just asked for Sally. Same with Kevin). Catlin asked about her voice. She was just as vague as she had been with Mac. "It just sort of came back." She said she had to go to Kevin. Catlin wanted to go too but Joyce told him what was what and the men wheeled him off in the other direction.

Carter went home in a good mood. He likes the job. He likes the people.

Adrienne and Jimmy figure no one will pay any attention to "The kid". They hope he won't mess up.

Britt talked to Kevin. He asked if this meant she wouldn't sign any more. She said they could still be friends on condition that he promise not to run away any more. He promised. He asked if grown-ups ever run away. She said they did when they didn't want to face something that was real tough but it didn't work and the only thing that worked was facing up to the truth. (Sounds like she's seeing reason.) Sally rushed in and felt Kevin's face without really looking at Brittany, who left. Kevin told Sally Brittany could talk. Sally said she knew and everyone was talking about it. (She didn't sound the least bit upset or jealous or annoyed, just pleased to have Kevin all right again. No malice or spite.) She said "I haven't even had a chance to thank you --" and turned around to do so. But Britt was gone. Sally went out into the corridor looking for her and for some reason looked sad.

David ~ beloved.

Percy ~ from a Norman French surname; originally a place name.

Steve ~ Steven; crown.

Apparently Catlin and Sally were not at Bennington Park 200 miles away because they got a flat. This is tomorrow morning already, why are they calling now? Where did they übernachten? Half an hour, that's like 30 miles and it doesn't take all night to realize that one has a flat tire and can't go any further. Either they slept at home and set out in the early morning or they camped by the flat. Either way it's weird, you know.

Quinn's trying to be reasonable is a failure because she adopts an "I know what's best for you and if you don't like it you can lump it" tone. Bad politics, honey bun.

From somewhere I have garnered the impression that Adrienne is married.
