Scott and Cheryl waited at the Pig Whistle for Bernie in vain.
Maisie feels wonderful. Captain Delaney came in and made suspicious noises about Mary.
Vince told Mary that life would be wonderful after he was cleared. He probed gently to find out how she felt about working at Mary's Place after his return. Ada phoned to tell Mary that she had to come down and allay Captain Delaney's suspicions. Vince said he would leave.
Mitch and Michael developed photographs. Something caught Michael's attention. When Mitch asked what he'd seen Michael pretended it was nothing and got rid of him, even though Mitch wanted to help.
Mary told Vince she didn't want him to go. He said he had to prove his innocence. He assured her he wasn't sick any more. She made him promise not to leave until she got back in case she got news from Captain Delaney. They are going to miss each other.
Scott found Bernie's wife who told him he'd run off with another woman. Cheryl said they had to catch them. Scott told her to phone Mr. Markham while he went to the airport.
Rachel bugged Mac about his surprise. He told her about Tony's story. He gave her a late 19th century pin. She thought it was the surprise. He denied it.
Michael enlarged a photograph and saw what he wanted to see. Sara came in and bullied him into showing her the picture of a woman's hand [most likely Donna's] coming out from a window.
Mac and Rachel are happy. He let her borrow his first edition Brideshead Revisited as part of the surprise. [Oh, goodie. It has to be about Carl.] She determined to piece together the clues. He gave her a blue iris.
Sara confirmed that the hand was snapped at the third spooky castle [conveniently located close to six other spooky castles in the Bay City area. Wow.], the one with the young, good-looking guy. He refused to let her come with him. He doesn't want Mitch to endanger his parole. She provided him with blueprints of the castle. [The three they had photographed had all been officially declared historical, so they were easy to get.] He was delighted.
Donna called out to the supply car in vain. The sleazebucket from the hall came in and told her it was no use. She asked what he wanted. He leaned very close to her before walking out.
Scott hovered around at the airport. Cheryl phoned to say that Mr Markham had told her that his wife had told him that she and Bernie were flying to a love nest near Boulder, Colorado. He saw Bernie and Mrs. Markham across the room and called out to them. They boarded hastily as Scott got caught in the crush. Scott was stopped at the gate. He tried to buy a ticket but the plane was booked. Security refused to let him by.
Cheryl didn't get a chance to talk to Mary before Captain Delaney started in bugging her [Mary]. He told her a neighbour had seen her with a man very like Vince. She denied having Vince in hiding. Cheryl said Vince wasn't a criminal, Reginald was. She stomped off. Captain Delaney turned his attention to Maisie. Mary rushed home.
Michael made plans to scale the wall. Sara told him there were two guys and two dogs. He added a couple of drugged steaks to his shopping list. Someone named Steve cruised through with a box of things useful for gaining entrance to castles. A flashlight and a rope and a pretty neat grappling hook. Michael admitted he'd never used one before but said he'd practice a little. He also got his Vietnam gun out of his drawer. [He was there for three years. The gun didn't really thrill him.] Sara was worried but he refused to let her come. She resigned herself. He kissed her gratefully and left.
Donna screamed through the door at the sleazebucket and got him to come inside. He refused to tell her anything. She screamed at him an awful lot before deciding to catch the fly with honey instead. She was too friendly. She promised him that her rich and influential husband would be only too thrilled to compensate him for any help he might provide. He left her. She sobbed.
Scott returned to Mary's Place and reported to Cheryl. She told him about Captain Delaney. She thought Mary seemed flustered. She went into the dining room and overheard Captain Delaney ordering up a search warrant. He turned on Scott as Cheryl rushed out.
Mary thought about dancing with Vince. She told him about Captain Delaney and tried to rush him out.
Mitch found out from Ada that Matthew was having dinner with his prematurely-returned parents instead. He had mild words with Captain Delaney about his harassment of Scott. Scott was unable to convince Captain Delaney that Bernie should be retrieved. He left. Maisie prepared a valentine for Dave. Ada assured her it couldn't be too sexy. A gloved hand watched Maisie. [They're overdoing it.]
Cheryl knocked on Mary's door. Mary had Vince in the closet. She let Cheryl in. Cheryl told her about the search warrant and Bernie. She asked her if she knew where Vince was.
Sara told Mitch she didn't know where Michael was.
Donna saw someone come up to the house and called to Michael.
Old pin. Borrowed book. Blue flowers. And Mac's ever-renewing love for Rachel is new. Threshold time.
Vince revealed himself to Cheryl just as Scott arrived.
Michael tried to convince the large man who answered the door that his car had broken down and he needed to use the phone. The large man just stood and looked stupid.
