ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

February 10, 1987

Oh dear. Mac and Rachel in New York. He told her he had a little business to take care of and then he'd meet her at the Crystal Room for dinner. She said she had no clothes or anything. He shrugged and left. Enter Mme Zelda from the Rive Gauche salon.

Scott cautioned Cheryl not to get her hopes up about Bernie. He said he'd decided they had to blackmail Bernie if they wanted him to testify.

Adam got the coroner's report on Linda. He told MJ that it was indeed the same MO — not strangling as I had thought but pressure on the carotid artery. [Ye gods. You suggested that as a form of carroticide for Peter, Jess.] It requires a certain knowledge of something. [Greg the Ripper. Greg the med student. Perhaps Gary is his [fraternal] twin brother.] It's definitely a serial killer.

Mitch brought Sara by to visit Michael. Michael has used all the clues to narrow the field. He gave Sara a vast sum of money and lent her a car so she could pretend to be a rich girl looking to buy so she can look around inside. Michael is going to go see Adam.

Scott told Cheryl he'd left a message for Bernie to call or risk being exposed to Mr. Markham and his [Bernie's] wife. He has doubts about the truthfulness of his oh-so-convincing father. Oddly enough Cheryl assured him that he might be able to believe his father. He despaired. She suggested he confront Reginald.

Adam tried to remember where he'd seen Linda. MJ said she might just remind him of someone. They argued about whether or not the press should know about the serial killer. Adam didn't want to cause panic and interference. MJ thought that people could take precautions. Enter Tony. Adam refused to tell him anything. He ordered him out. MJ decided to go down to the Pig Whistle to talk to some of the girls.

Donna tried to unlock her door. She dashed back to bed when the nurse came in with her breakfast. There is a man in the hall. The nurse left her alone. Donna [using a burnt twig from the fire] wrote a note on her napkin. "My name is Donna Hudson. My husband will pay you to get me out of here. Please help."

Mme Zelda did Rachel's hair. The woman admitted to faking a foreign accent and being from Brooklyn. She left Giovanni arrived with a choice of dresses. He is not from Brooklyn but from Fiorenza.

Tony dropped by Mary's Place to see Nancy and told her he suspected there was a serial killer even though Adam wasn't talking. He has to talk to Mac about publishing his suspicions.

Someone watched Maisie in the kitchen.

Adam told Michael he'd been taken off of Donna's case for something more important. Michael was distressed. Adam showed him Paul's journal. [does everyone keep a convenient an incriminating diary?] The last entry was not much help except for the reference to a fairy tale castle.

A man in quite the wrong sort of gloves crept upon Maisie in the kitchen and covered her eyes. Maisie screamed and everyone rushed in. It turned out to be Dave so they all cleared out.

Cheryl and Scott told MJ what they knew about Bernie. She promised to help. She pointed out to Scott that Reginald could well have set Vince up. He said nothing.

Tony told Mac his suspicions but admitted that he had no real evidence. Mac advised him not to do anything until he returned.

Rachel getting presents is boring. A fur came.

Sara met Michael and Mitch at Michael's office. She has narrowed the field even more from seven to three. They were heavily guarded and fairy-tale-castle types. Mitch suggested photographs. Michael decided to get his plane.

Jewels came for Rachel with a loving note from Mac.

MJ chatted with a hooker about Linda. She learned about Linda's little black book and talked quietly to Adam while she served him. He went out to look around. The hooker told MJ that the little black book also had the names of all the girls who had ever worked for her pimp.

Donna folded her napkin on her tray and caught the attention of the man in the hall when the nurse took it out. He took the tray and found the note.

Michael left Sara behind to man the phones and warned her not to tell the police anything.

Tony told Maisie and Dave about his suspicions. Dave told Maisie to take care of herself and left. Nancy said she was worried too. Tony said that the serial killer was killing only prostitutes and she and Maisie were therefore safe. [This is probably irony. I think they're both going to die.] Tony left. Somebody watched Maisie. Bernie phoned Scott and was only too eager to meet him at the Pig Whistle at six.

Mitch told Michael to hold the plane steady while he photographed the house. Michael said he was doing his best. Mitch told him to do better. Michael looked a little surprised [as if no one had ever talked to him that way before] and slightly offended.

The man read the note and burned it. He has a vicious looking dog. [Actually a dog with a vicious looking collar.]

Donna heard the airplane overhead and said, "Michael."

Chad slithered into the Pig Whistle. Chad: hello, beautiful. You're looking fine as always. MJ: cut the oil job, Chad. I want the book. Chad: come again? MJ: don't play stupid with me, Chad. Chad: baby, stop speaking Greek. She demanded Linda's black book. He pretended not to have known she ever had one. She didn't believe him. MJ said she had to get that book before the cops. He pointed out that she was the cops. She said her name would be in the book and she'd lose her family and her job and worst of all Adam. Chad got up to go. She said he had to help her. He said he didn't. He apologized and said he was upset about Linda's death. She said he'd lost a source of income. He accused her of being cynical and asked why. She looked at him. He said he loved her. She pointed out that he hadn't stuck with record producers, he'd had her sleep with anyone who could pay. He asked why she'd stayed. She was silent. He told her she'd loved him. She said she'd been desperate for love and attention and told him she had to have that book. He said if he found it she'd get it. She left. He asked the bartender for a manila envelope. [Dear God, is he going to mail it to Adam? He got a trifle upset when MJ mentioned losing him?]

Mac pretended not to recognize Rachel. She called him a cad because he kissed her anyway. Mac: in vino veritas. And 1978- — A towering year. Rachel: were we married once in '78? Mac: no, we were divorced in '78, married in '79. Rachel: oh, that's right. They toasted marriage [and marriage, and marriage]. Mac said regretfully that he had to go back to Bay City on business.

Adam got a man looking for Linda's book. MJ came in and demanded a soothing hug and kiss. He obliged. The surprise vacation is still on. She said the hookers she had talked to were afraid. He referred to prostitutes as "those poor miserable creatures." she wasn't thrilled. He shut up about them, but rather as if he were bored.

Chad sent a girl to buy stamps for his important parcel containing the Felicia book containing the Linda book.

Mitch took a few final photographs as Donna got a window open and screamed and gestured. The man from the hall watched her.
