Michaud chides Daphne about her unwavering determination. He said it interfered with more important things and held her in a close embrace. They kissed passionately rather a lot until interrupted by the butler announcing an important personage (referred to as HIM or HE) on the line from Paris.
Marley followed Donna down to the drawing room. She went to get Victoria so she could be told this.
Mac slumped forward against the horn, which sounded, and Rachel was concerned. She would have gone for help but he asked about her. Rachel: I'm shaken up. Mac: Well it was TERRIFYING, wasn't it? Rachel: Yeah, for a moment there I -- Mac: What? What? What? Rachel: I was scared, what would happen? Mac: It was a shock, right? You must have been traumatized. Rachel: I was petrified. Mac: Well, right. What I want to know is -- how do you feel? I mean, like, EMOTIONALLY SPEAKING, how do you feel? Rachel: (looking at him very strangely) We just had a car accident, Mac. How do you expect me to feel? Mac: Emotionally. Rachel, I -- HENDERSON, what are you doing here? Henderson: Well I saw the car jolt to a stop and then I heard the horn go off. Rachel: We had an accident, Henderson. Henderson: Yes, of course, Mrs Cory, but I was afraid that the brakes might've locked. Mac: They're OKAY, Henderson. Henderson: We missed each other by at least fifteen feet. I can't imagine what might have happened. Mac: Look, the car is fine and we're fi-- Rachel: YOU were driving the car, Henderson? Mac: Look, we really appreciate your concern, Henderson, but you go back home now, all right? Henderson: Yes sir, sorry sir. It's just that I panicked when I heard the horn. I didn't know what to make of it. Mac: Actually I assure you we're all right. Now, we'll see you back at the house, okay, Henderson? Henderson: Yes sir. Oh, You gave me the night off, sir. Mac: Well all right Henderson I'll see you in the morning, OKAY? Henderson: Yes sir. I am going to check those brakes, first thing. Mac: GOOD NIGHT, HENDERSON. Henderson: Yes sir. Oh. Good night, Mrs Cory. Rachel: Goodnight, Henderson. (Exit Henderson.) Henderson was driving the other car. Mac: Yes well it does seem he was I guess. Rachel: That doesn't seem the least bit odd to you? Mac: Actually what I'm thinking about is I'm just so glad nobody was hurt and I want to make sure that you're all right so I'm going to get you home right now. Rachel: I'm all right. It's the guy next to me I'm worried about.
Donna refuses to put this off. She wants to do this alone. Without Peter. She told them (beginning at the beginning).
The phone call cheered Michaud. Their guest will be arriving in a week to ten days. (I suspect it's Monsieur.) No one is to be allowed in unauthorized. He says Felicia will find out at the right moment. He kissed her [Daphne] rather a good deal and picked her up to carry her to bed.
Mac and Rachel returned to the Corys. Ada figured Mac's plot out. Mac confessed. The women are mad at him. He admitted defensively that he'd been stupid. Rachel made fun of his acting. He yelled a lot. She went to bed.
Donna elaborated. Vic was calm and happy. Marley was silent and upset and went to bed. Donna was concerned. She followed her to talk. Marley wants to be alone. Vic assured Donna Marley would be all right. She's pleased.
Daphne took her hair out. They're in bed. They're pleased with the success of their plans. They will have it all.
Rachel saw things from Mac's point of view and decided to forget it. Nancy wandered through subdued and abstracted with intent to sunbathe. Ada's concerned about her. Rachel went to sit with Nancy rather than go to the old house. Mac entered waving a white flag tied to a cane begging for a truce. She forgave him drily and left. Ada told him he'd better not do it again.
Nancy (convinced she was hallucinating) spotted a 30 ft wingspan orange bird. Turned out to be a hang glider. Rachel saw it too and reassured her.
Donna told Peter of the surprising reactions of her offspring. Vic entered in good spirits for a change. She won't call him Uncle Peter. She went to breakfast. Donna feels so close to Vic but not as close to Marley. Enter Marley. Defensive. Donna called her sensitive. She's upset. Peter sounded like a soothing psychiatrist. Marley raved about her memories being wrong and Donna fled. Marley snapped at Peter.
Michaud at the Corys got on swimmingly with Ada. Mac straightened out something regarding Michaud's permits. Michaud suggested Rachel could do something artistic for each woman. Ada said he could ask her. Mac told the general Chapin legend.
Daphne pottered about with her vials etc and found something on a painting.
Donna tried to talk to Marley. She admitted to being weak and cowardly for not telling her sooner. Daphne arrived. Seeing that Donna was not up to visitors Marley had Bridget bring her in. She left. Daphne asked about landscapers and when Donna went to get her a number she inspected a picture.
Nancy told Rachel nothing in life interested her any more. The hang glider reappeared and Nancy instantly forgot about everything else and stood enthralled as Rachel left.
Donna gave Daphne the number. Vic appeared disconcerting Daphne no end. She was explained as a twin. Vic mentioned Donna being in a hurry for a luncheon. Daphne graciously left. Donna thanked Vic for getting rid of her.
The hang glider landed in a field by a friend with a jeep. He is the young Chapin taken away by his mother during the Daphne years. He wants to take a closer look at the old house. He knows some French corporation bought it. He hated it.
Michaud's still not thrilled with Daphne's hobby. She is. She's found hieroglyphics on one of the paintings. She's determined to find all of them (in the diaries, I might add, it turned out that Brandon Love was fascinated by Egyptian culture etc though his family never knew. He filled two journals with details. A tie-in? I think so.)
Vic told Bridget Donna had told them. And about Marley's reaction. Enter Donna. Exit Bridget. Donna told Vic about the eighteenth birthday and the inheritance. Vic claimed to be unaware of it. Donna said there might be problems. She said she was sweet. They'll help Marley.
Nancy will likely fall madly for Chapin Jr.
Daphne is pretty good at getting Michaud out of his shirt.
