Felicia told Mitch Nicole's problems.
In what has got to be the lamest attempt at a cover up in the history of television, Amanda quickly said she was certainly crazy about Sam Malone of Cheers. Sam got Julie Ann to leave them alone. He stared.
Michael hesitated as Donna collapsed, [reminiscent of Scott and That Old Carrot, hein?] But they both recovered at about the same time. He clutched his cases and made for the door. She attempted to restrain him. She swore she hadn't had an affair with John. He refused to let her explain and stomped out. She had a fit. Peter dragged her back inside and attempted to soothe her. She sobbed into his chest.
Cass got a lead on where Nicole was staying and told Felicia he was going there. Felicia pointed out that it was a romantic country inn and warned him that Nicole had feelings for him and vice versa. He kissed her and told her not to worry.
Sam asked Amanda what she would have answered if she'd had the chance not to babble about a sitcom. Rachel appeared and gave them a hard time about being in Mac's office. Sam retreated. Rachel yelled at Amanda for holding trysts in her father's office. Amanda said she'd work things out with understanding Mac. Rachel said there were limits to what Mac should have to understand. Amanda refused to give up Sam. Out in the corridor Sam pounced on her and said her answer was important to him. She prevaricated. He said it was important they be honest about their feelings. She asked how he felt about her. He said he liked her a great deal. They smiled foolishly at one another until Rachel broke it up. She sent Amanda on an errand to keep them apart a little. Sam dispersed. Amanda stomped into Mac's office to yell at Rachel for being selfish. Rachel said she didn't understand. Amanda informed her that she didn't have a pathetic teenage crush on Sam, she cared about him. She stomped out. Jamie appeared. Rachel begged him to get her out of there before she spanked his little sister.
Donna said she didn't deserve to be loved. Peter said he loved her. All very well, but he made the tactical error of saying she'd be better off without Michael. Then instead of blaming herself she blamed him and That Old Carrot. Peter said he disapproved of carrot tactics but not their goal. Donna freaked out and ran upstairs.
Nicole brooded about the lack of romance in her engagement to Cass. There was a knock at the door. Without looking up, she said, "it's open, come in." Enter Cass. Nicole: you can put it on the bed. Thanks. Cass: put what on the bed? Nicole: I thought you were room service. Cass: well, I could be. What would you like me to put on the bed? He told her M Dupannier needed an answer. She said she couldn't get married so suddenly. He followed her outside to try to talk her out of trashing the marriage idea. He said he cared about her too much to let her talent go to waste. She accused him of marrying her out of pity. He was stunned.
Rachel tried not to tell Jamie about Amanda and Sam. She diverted the subject to Lisa and work and Victoria.
Felicia rushed to Donna's side to comfort her in her distress. Donna told her incoherently that Michael had packed his bags and left for good. Felicia reassured her. She told her to fight for her family. Donna told her the twins were John's. Felicia advised her not to believe the tests. Donna cried. Felicia asked where Michael had gone. It occurred to Donna that he might have gone to see john.
Michael went to the boat looking for John. John was not there, so Michael tore apart his bed [with visions of his wife and brother entangled naked in it]. John came back. Michael accused him of having had sex with his wife. John denied it. He said he [Michael] and Donna belonged together. Michael said that he [John] and Donna belonged together as lying cheating vermin.
Rachel couldn't stand it any longer and told Jamie a garbled version of her Amanda problem, without explaining the details. Sam came up to chat with Mitch.
Amanda admitted to Julie Ann that she might be in love, but the symptoms scare her. She said these feelings did not fit in with her plans. Julie Ann said life was like that.
Cass spoke nicely to Nicole and tried to coax her to marry him.
Michael told John he believed the twins deserved a much better father than him [John] and he was having a test done, but he was welcome to Donna.
Amanda said she and Sam had almost gone to bed together last night, but nowadays it was too dangerous to do that kind of thing without knowing absolutely everything about someone. Julie Ann said you had to take more time and couldn't just go leaping into bed at a moments notice. [Yes you can. Use a latex condom.]
Rachel said she was worried about Amanda making her [Rachel's] mistakes. Sam wondered about the wisdom of getting involved with a coworker. Mitch spoke in favour of commitment. Sam said he didn't have time for a relationship. Mitch said he could combine her with the necessities of life [eating and sleeping]. Felicia came up and, upon hearing that Sam was contemplating commitment with Mandy Ashton, glanced at Rachel.
Nicole headed back to her room. A hayride containing a honeymoon couple stopped and offered them a lift. Cass said they might as well enjoy what they had, even if it wasn't the ultimate. He nuzzled her neck, a little.
Donna moped around a little. She told Peter she loved Michael and he could never convince her that That Old Carrot was right and if he wanted to stay there he'd better shut up talking about Michael like that. John came and made Peter leave them alone. John told Donna he'd see to it that she and Michael got back together.
The honeymoon couple likes to nap in the afternoons. Nicole was enraptured. Cass told her she had to phone M Dupannier.
Felicia avoided revealing Amanda's identity to Mitch. Exit Mitch. Jamie got beeped. Felicia complained to Rachel that she couldn't go on lying to Mitch. Rachel complained about lying to Mac. Michael strolled up. Jamie came back from his phone call and asked to speak to Michael. John appeared as Jamie said he had paternity information.
