Amanda and Sam woke up when Rachel knocked on the door with an urgent message for Sam.
Cass brought Nicole breakfast with the message that Zack was convinced. He has the romance mapped out. Felicia arrived and found out he hadn't set the target date for the wedding.
Donna fell asleep in the drawing room and fretted when she awoke and Michael hadn't returned yet.
Michael brooded in his car. Mary spotted him and came over to express concern. He cancelled all his business obligations for the next couple of days on account of depression. She very wisely did not ask what in particular had caused this depression, and she appreciated it.
Amanda hid, although Sam thought it was unnecessary. Once inside, Rachel said Mac wanted her to look at his preliminary sketches. She spotted Amanda's purse. He said it was Joyce's. Rachel said in a loud voice she hoped her 8 o'clock appointment wouldn't be late. Exit Rachel. Amanda rushed around to get out of there.
Cass hesitated to commit himself to a date. Felicia told him the McKinnons would be hurt. Cass said it would only be for 90 days. A representative of the French Foreign Institute arrived and invited Nicole to Monte Carlo for their exhibition. Nicole was thrilled.
Donna checked hospitals. She can't find Michael. She decided to phone Adam. Michael staggered in and would not let Donna embrace him. Donna asked why he hadn't come home.
Rachel went into the Complex. Amanda appeared. Rachel asked if she was sleeping with Sam.
Nicole asked for a few days to consider because of her financial situation. M. Dupannier was puzzled but willing. Cass assured him she would say yes. Exit M. Dupannier. Cass said February was plenty of time. Nicole let him off the hook.
Donna realized Michael knew. He refused to listen to her explanations. She burst into tears when he yelled at her.
Mary met with Zack on Michael's behalf. He told her that her divorce court date was in a couple of days. That Old Carrot strutted up. Mary noticed Michael's mark on his cheek. That Old Carrot bragged that the other feller looked a lot worse. Mary was not impressed. She walked off with Zack. Cass came chasing after Nicole. Mary was not thrilled. Nicole refused to let Cass continue with it. He pointed out That Smug Carrot and asked if she was willing to let him continue being smug. Then he kissed her. That Old Carrot stared.
Sam joined Mitch in Mary's Place for breakfast. He told him about Rachel's weird visit.
Amanda assured Rachel that nothing had happened last night. Rachel warned her she didn't know everything about Sam. Amanda looked dreamy and said she knew all she needed to know. Rachel told her Sam was Mitch's brother.
Donna told Michael that she and John hadn't made love when Victoria saw them naked in bed together. Michael said that was a technicality. Donna said they both loved him too much. Michael produced John's letters. She burst into tears again. He wanted to know Where they'd done it. She insisted she loved him [Michael] and hadn't taken John to the stables, at any rate. When she admitted that they had had sex [a compromise, for me, between saying made love and raped] in John's car he was filled with disgust. He asked if she'd thought he wouldn't find out that his children weren't his. She said they were in everything that was important. As the coup de grâce he thrust the paternity results at her. She said she'd never loved anyone but him. He yelled at her for lying. She told him she hadn't known and that That Old Carrot had pushed her over the edge by letting her in on it, with the proof of the bundles with John photograph. [My objections to that have been gone into in detail on previous occasions. It also occurs to me that a forged document from That Old Carrot is equally worthless. Let's face it, Dr Miller could have substituted Charlie Brown, Ethelred the Unready, or the Prince of Wales in the blank for the father's name with the same ease. And how sure can you be when the competitors are brothers of the same blood type?] Michael cannot forgive her trying to protect herself by keeping it secret. She said she loved him. He bet she said that to all the boys and stomped upstairs. She was crushed.
Amanda was stunned. She didn't understand Rachel's reasons for failing to tell Mac about it. Rachel asked her not to have contact with Sam. Amanda said she didn't think that was fair.
Mitch told Sam he'd like to meet Mandy. Sam said Mandy was the same thing as work and that was why she kept cropping up in conversation.
Mary and That Old Carrot stared at Cass and Nicole. Felicia told Mary it wasn't what it appeared to be. Mary said brightly that she was happy for Cass and left. Nicole fled. That Old Carrot let Cass know he was suspicious. Cass said he wasn't a gold digger. That Old Carrot's suspicions are not of that nature. Exit Carrot. Felicia tried to talk Cass out of it. M. Dupannier appeared and said Nicole had to answer within 24 h.
Michael prepared to move out. Donna played with him. He was remote. She wept. He can't forgive.
Cass went looking for Nicole. She has disappeared with suitcases. Felicia told him Nicole had to sort out her feelings for him. Cass went to find her.
Rachel warned Amanda that her relationship with Sam would hurt Mac. Exit Rachel. Enter Julie Ann. Amanda told her about last night. Julie Ann asked if she were in love with Sam as he appeared in the doorway.
Michael ordered his car and told Donna it was too late and he was going to a hotel. She planned. He told her she disgusted him and knocked her down in his efforts to get out.
