Vince decided he wanted to do bad things to Reginald.
Cheryl begged Bernie to help Vince. He suggested they go to a motel. He promised a good time.
Scott got stuck in traffic.
Michael asked Paul where Donna was. The ambulance arrived. Paul was in bad shape. Michael delayed the ambulance slightly and promised Paul he'd help him. Paul muttered about a fortress and guns. Michael was forced to let him leave.
Donna fretted.
Mary made Vince hide in the closet before she let Reginald in. He told her his troubles. He asked about her children. She said they were fine. He wondered why. Mary said it was because of Vince's influence. That Old Carrot said it couldn't be that, it had to be genetic. They have her blood. His [Reginald's] wife detracted from the blood of his pathetic children. She didn't fall in with that.
Cheryl stalled by asking for a drink. Bernie drooled all over her. She tried to get him back on the topic of Vince. He told her that he and Marty [Martha Markham] were going to go to Colorado as soon as she came into a certain inheritance. Cheryl was distressed. She said she'd miss him and begged him not to go. He began making plans to ditch Marty for a weekend so Cheryl could have the thrill of seeing Colorado in his clutches. She said she couldn't go anywhere until she'd proved her father innocent and she'd be very grateful to anyone who could help her. He said he'd do anything for her and leaned in very close as Scott came in. Scott pried him off Cheryl. Cheryl tried to get rid of him. A fight broke out [started by Scott punching Bernie]. Cheryl tried to prevent Bernie breaking a chair over Scott's head. Scott pinned Bernie to the bar. Cheryl told him that Vince very definitely hadn't attacked Reginald.
That Old Carrot told Mary that Peter had never been able to handle women properly and she would be able to help him. She was abstracted. She asked him to leave because she was cooking for company. He was on his way out when he asked who was coming. She said it was Felicia so he decided there was no need for him to leave. She panicked and insisted he go. She refused to let him take her and Felicia to dinner. He told her it was difficult to be with her and not attack her. He embraced her. Vince was incensed.
Adam told MJ he was certain he'd seen Linda before. She did not remind him that she'd introduced him to her. She said they must have seen her at the station house. They discussed the possibility of a serial killer. Someone watched Maisie as she talked on the phone about Dave. Adam and MJ have the creeps.
Michael and Mitch decided to ponder what little information they had while waiting for Paul to get out of surgery.
Donna pretended to be asleep so that the nurse wouldn't sedate her any more. The nurse went away. Donna crept out of the room and looked around.
Scott and Bernie continued to fight. Bernie threw a glass at Scott and when Cheryl rushed to Scott's side made his escape. Cheryl helped Scott out.
Mary got free of Reginald's grasp and locked Vince in the closet before any damage could be done. She tried to get rid of Reginald. She agreed to talk later but balked at a dinner date. He kissed her and left. Vince demanded that she let him out. They quarreled about Reginald. That Old Carrot sickened Vince. He said no one on earth had more right to kiss her then he did. He did.
Michael and Mitch told Adam about their clues. He was puzzled. He implored Michael not to risk his own life. Michael said he would do anything to get Donna back.
Donna found a phone but was stumped for an instant because she couldn't remember Michael's number. She recalled his last name and phoned directory assistance. She got through and talked to Michael. Adam rushed out to the van to trace the call. Michael asked where she was. She said she didn't know and she was scared. She had to hang up and hide when she heard the nurse coming. Adam was unable to trace her. Michael was excited. Donna is better.
Vince apologized. Mary told him it was all right. She didn't want him to leave. She made him stay to eat.
Cheryl took Scott back to Mary's Place and left a message for MJ to call. She made Scott take his shirt off so she could first aid him. ["First aid me, Regan," Bobby ordered. "First aid me. Take me up to your room on top of the garage and first aid me."] She told him about Colorado. Scott doubts the alibi. He was suddenly frightened lest Bernie skip town. She phoned Tops and found out that Bernie had collected his last paycheque and quit. [His last name is Gladstone.] They rushed to see Mrs. Markham.
Vince's dinner proved to be first rate. Mary convinced him to stay because of the storm and his recent illness. She offered to let him sleep in the bed while she took the couch. [How did she manage to stay with Felicia with only one bed?] Vince said they should talk.
Jamie phoned Michael to say Paul was out of surgery. Michael and Mitch rushed to the hospital with Adam at their heels when Adam assured them that the police would answer any calls from Donna.
Donna tried to get back to the phone. The nurse discovered her bed was empty and called for help.
Michael and Mitch went in to look at Paul. MJ came up to Adam and told him she was frightened. He was concerned. She said she wondered whether any woman was safe.
Someone watched Maisie leave by the back door of Mary's Place. [She's going to die.]
Mrs. Markham wasn't at home. Mrs. Casey said that she had last been seen buying a new mink coat. Scott and Cheryl don't know whether she lied to Bernie about the money or Bernie lied to Cheryl. He said they should involve the police.
Donna was carried back to bed by a large man. She kicked and struggled and said she wanted Michael. The nurse told her she couldn't run outside in her nightclothes. Donna insisted she wasn't an invalid and said they'd be sorry when her husband found out that how they'd been treating her.
Paul is not well. Michael asked him where Donna was. Paul babbled about a dog and fangs which had scared him. He stopped beeping. Jamie put Michael and Mitch out. Paul is dead.
