Donna fretted about Victoria. Michael tried to reassure her. She decided to go back to work. Michael made her suspicious by being overprotective. He insisted nothing was wrong. She left. Mary phoned, needing to talk urgently to Michael.
Aunt Liz raised Amanda's hackles by saying not entirely positive things about Sam.
Mitch found Sam painting furiously at home. He demanded to know why he seemed less than thrilled about the engagement.
Nicole had a hard time sketching. She took to pacing. Cass watched in silence. John wandered in, having recently provided Jason with a much-needed wall. Nicole was a little freaked about his neglect. She yelled at Cass for not caring about their future expansion. He was puzzled. John was embarrassed. Donna swirled in in a wonderful mood. John was happy for her. Nicole said she was, too, and stomped out. Cass stomped off in another direction.
There is a chance that Mary will get her memory back. Mary told Ada she didn't want Vince to know. She asked Ada to tell her about the way the neighbourhood was twenty years ago. Mary was able to fill in a few things on her own. Michael was enchanted.
Liz found out Sam was not in the art department. Amanda was worried. Mac advised Liz to stop making cracks about Sam. He insisted Amanda come to Mary's Place with him.
Sam painted harder. He told Mitch about his confrontation with Mac. He's come to a decision to quit. He can't work for Mac. Sam was shocked that Mitch might think that he was having second thoughts about Amanda. Instead of Corying, he will paint and drive a taxi or something to support his family.
Donna told John about her wonderful life. There was no room for tension in her bliss. Nicole appeared and was annoyed to hear Cass had left.
Mary told Michael she was supposed to talk about and walk around the past. Mary suggested they go back to the scene of the crime. Mac and Amanda walked in and dazzled Ada with her ring.
Sam asked Liz if Mac was in. She told him Amanda was at Mary's Place with her father. He gave her his resignation in an envelope to give to Mac. Rachel caught Liz prodding the envelope with a curious finger. When Liz told her Sam had left the envelope for Mac Rachel fingered it thoughtfully.
Cass found Mitch in Tops. He's looking for Wally. Mitch hasn't seen him. Cass wandered off. That Old Carrot walked in with a fake Frenchman who is to be paid to do something involving Nicole.
Mac told Ada he'd fought with Sam. He's worried because Sam hasn't called Amanda. Mary is afraid of remembering and finding she doesn't know anything. Jason assured her she knew something. Rachel delivered Sam's resignation to Mac. Mac read it and dashed off. Amanda knew it was something to do with Sam.
John left. Nicole told Donna about Cass' butterfly tendencies. Donna accused her of being in love with him. Blech. Nicole denied it. Donna asked why she couldn't admit it to herself. Nicolle said she had to start learning to run the business alone. Cass walked in and asked if that meant she didn't want him around any more. Donna left them alone. Nicole gave Cass permission to leave at any time.
Michael went to fill Adam in. Rachel told Amanda Sam had quit over his fight with Mac. Amanda ran out.
Mac dropped by Sam's loft to discuss his resignation. Sam insisted he could not be happy working at Cory. He went so far as to say he and Amanda might move away from Bay City. This was news to Amanda, who appeared on the doorstep. She took Sam's side. Mac bowed out.
Mitch overheard That Old Carrot chatting about Monte Carlo with the fake Frenchman André. André is to make sure the designs never get there.
Cass refrained from quitting. Nicole got a little hysterical and stuck Cass with a huge pin. Cass took exception to this treatment and grabbed her by the arms. Having their faces so close together confused them a little about the purpose of the confrontation [not that Cass knew what they were arguing about in the first place]. They apologized for everything. They almost kissed but Nicole pulled away and went upstairs to work.
Bridget's a little disoriented by the apartment but thrilled that Michael and Donna are together again. Michael told Donna he couldn't make dinner. Donna was disappointed but understanding. Michael whispered to Bridget that he needed the key to the west wing. She was alarmed. She said it hadn't been opened for eighteen years.[Bridget has been in town for three.*] Michael pretty much advised her to mind her own business.
Jason left before he drove Mary crazy. Mary asked Ada not to tell Vince she'd seen her. Mac reported to Rachel and Ada. He is afraid Amanda blames him.
Sam told Amanda he appreciated her support. He apologized for not telling her he wanted to resign. She asked if he had meant it about leaving Bay City.
* Editor's modern note: Come to think of it Reginald was absent for most of those alleged eighteen years as well. Why would Donna and Peter have kept the west wing closed up? Prior to now we knew that Donna had kept her room in the cellar a locked secret but no one ever mentioned the entire west wing being shut up. In fact, apparently Brittany and Peter started their married life in the west wing and it wasn't shut up at all.↩
