Nicole dwelt on the almost-kiss. So did Cass. He decided to go out for a while. Nicole sketched furiously and berated herself.
Since Michael [had] stood her up, Donna took Bridget to the Love mansion to pack some more things to move. Michael appeared and asked what she was doing there.
Jason worried about the effects of the expedition on Mary's health and said she couldn't shouldn't come. Mary insisted on coming. Scott borrowed Mary to discuss Dawn. Ada advised Rachel not to go and talk to Sam and Amanda.
Sam couldn't face Amanda. He suggested going someplace else and starting fresh. She seemed reluctant. He proposed Seattle. She was miffed. He listed places they'd never been before. They both liked the sound of Paris.
Rachel said Amanda had to take Mac's feelings into consideration. Scott fretted. He expressed his determination to make sure Dawn got her education.
Donna asked Michael where she should put her things when she moved in. He said his closet was full and suggested the guest room. She was taken aback. Nicole phoned. Michael took the call and represented it as an urgent message requiring Donna to fly to Nicole's side and leave the Love mansion. Donna obligingly flew. Bridget gave Michael the keys to the west wing and said he shouldn't upset Donna about her mother. Bridget left him alone.
Nicole fretted. Donna swirled in in a cloud of bliss. Nicole was touchy. She complained about her love life. She told Donna about the almost-kiss. Donna was thrilled and told her to go for it. Nicole is afraid of failure.
Sam got enthusiastic. Amanda put up a brave front. Sam noticed. She admitted she was scared. He asked if she thought he couldn't make it as an artist. Amanda's eyes shone with her faith in him, but she said she had too many new things to deal with. He said he wouldn't take her away from everything she knew if he didn't think they could handle it. He thinks she should leave the safety net. She said she was with him. Rachel arrived. Sam told her he had left Brava to become a full-time artist. He left her and Amanda alone. Rachel tried to make certain Sam wasn't coercing Amanda.
Jason showed Mary and Michael Elizabeth's room. They got the impression that he'd been there rather a lot for a horse trainer. Mary said nothing seemed familiar.
Cass showed up at Wallingford's apartment and was horrified to learn that Wally had died. [Ironic that he gets an apartment only in death.]
Amanda insisted that she was on Sam's side. Rachel accused her of being too naive to realize what she was getting into, never having known a chequebook.
Wally hadn't mentioned his heart condition. The funeral home has just taken him away. Cass looked around the apartment. There were dice and mannequins scattered around. He toyed with Wally's hat for a bit and looked at a photo of Wally and Felicia on the mantel. "What are we going to do without you?" He wept.
Jason tried to help Mary remember her routine. She stared at the cobwebs and had glimmers. She recalled That Old Carrot making a move on her. Bridget peeped in and out. Mary went into the hall to recreate the moment. She recalled eavesdropping on Elizabeth telling That Old Carrot she was leaving him. Elizabeth was insisting that someone loved her. Reginald said whoever it was [Jason, I'll wager,] loved her money. Mary heard a noise and went in. Elizabeth was lying on the floor.
Scott talked to Ada about Dawn. Ada said she wished Dawn would stop and chat occasionally. Scott said she was sensitive about being harassed in public. Rachel returned. Scott went upstairs. Rachel griped about idealistic young lovers. Ada reminded her that she hadn't been much more realistic at Amanda's age. More mercenary, but no more realistic.
Felicia joined Donna and Nicole for pizza and gossip. Donna was eager for everyone to hear about her wonderful life and to tease Nicole about Cass. Exit Donna. Felicia tackled Nicole about Donna's hints. Enter Cass. Felicia could see that something had happened. Cass said he had some really bad news. He led up to it slowly. Felicia burst into tears and denial.
Amanda found a Jane Austen novel and wondered why Sam would be reading such a thing. Then she deduced that it had been left by Joyce, so she threw it out. Sam returned with takeout chicken. Amanda admitted she hadn't told her mother they were leaving. Sam said he didn't care where they were as long as they were together. They kissed passionately and neglected the food.
Jason encouraged Mary. Mary became agitated and frustrated. Michael told Jason to leave Mary alone. Out in the hall she had a recollection of a gun going off.
