ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

January 3, 1985

Nancy is being helped with her trig by Jamie. Mac has discovered that that Flynn man was murdered three days before Carl came to the states.

Wallingford: Calm down, Felicia. You've got to learn to relax. People do this sort of thing every day. Felicia: Oh yeah? Well not this people. Wallingford: Well come on. Think of Cass. Felicia: Yeah, I know, I know. And Kathleen. Y'know, I'm a little worried about her. Are you serious? She just sat there like a zombie and then jumped up and ran out? Wallingford: The poor girl just went nuts. I think it's because she's so worried about Cass. Okay, now let's look in the bag (rubbing his hands together gleefully). Felicia: (Clutching a paper bag to her bosom) Ooooh, I don't know if I'm ready yet. Wallingford: Oh, come on, Felicia. By the way, I want to tell you. You carried this thing off like a pro today. Felicia: Oh, thanks. You were my rock, Wallingford. Wallingford: I was? Felicia: Yeah. Wallingford: You know, a genteel woman like you needs an escort in a place like this. Now let's look in the bag, okay? Do you want me to do the honours? Felicia: Oooh, not so fast. Okay. I'm ready. Wallingford: Oh, I'm ready too. Felicia: Ready. She dumped a vast sum of money out on the table.

Kathleen wants Cass arrested for stealing her car. MJ and Larry are reluctant to do anything about it. She wants Cass put in jail now.

Wallingford's counting the money. $9,324.64. Felicia's putting jewellery on. It's paste and so on and that's why she didn't try to hock it along with her real jewellery. She called Tony to invite him over for a meeting. He agreed to come. They hope he'll give Cass more time if they give him the money.

Larry and MJ think perhaps Cass and Kathleen had a fight and that's why she wants him in choky. Larry had to leave to talk to someone. Kathleen yelled at MJ and told her to fill out an arrest report. MJ asked her what was really wrong. Kathleen said Cass was everything MJ had said and so she should arrest him. The sooner the better.

Mac and Jamie hope that Scotland Yard can link Carl to this murder with Larry's help. Nancy is disturbed by the talk of Carl. She's worried about Perry. Mac concedes that Perry is having a rough time of it. Nancy says they hardly talk any more.

The officer is being offensive. He says he's not a baby-sitter. He's given Ewing cleanup detail. Catlin: Sir? Officer: Are you hard of hearing, or just too good to clean up? Catlin: No sir. Officer: I hope you people are all listening to these yes sirs and no sirs. Now this boy knows how it's done. This is our very own Catlin Ewing (our very own? You mean to keep?). This boy is a star. Catlin: Sergeant, um. Officer: This is the young hero, with the good-looking girlfriend. Right, Ewing? Isn't that right, Ewing? Catlin: My fiancée is very pretty, yes sir. Officer: Right. Fine. Now clean this place up by yourself, unless of course your brother the lieutenant's going to help you out. Catlin: No sir. This sergeant really has it in for him. Come on, what's a little kick in the stomach between friends? Forgive & forget.

Sally's come down to the police station to meet Catlin and take him home with her. She brought Kevin along. She talked to Kathleen for a bit. Kevin was rather quiet. When Sally and Kathleen discussed the upcoming wedding and mentioned the date Kevin smashed Larry's coffee cup, much to Sally's dismay (and possibly mystification). Larry returned and was not terribly upset. He gave Kevin & Sally passes so they could go Upstairs to see Catlin. Kathleen eagerly signed an arrest report. MJ and Larry have the go ahead to go and visit Carl. They's gone. Kathleen: What about Cass? Who cares about Carl Hutchins?

Someone cancelled a meeting with Carl. He's convinced Cory had something to do with it. He took his phone out of its box and called someone whom he's got searching for the whereabouts of Sandy.

Vince invited Carter and Tom to stay to dinner with him and Ben and Marley. But they're going to celebrate at the Todds' because Thomasina was accepted for pre-med at Bay State. Huzzah huzzah. They left. Marley's thinking about Donna. She says she's worried about Peter.

Donna went to see Perry at Smiley's. She misses Peter. She's worried about him. And about Perry because of the Carl fuss.

Kathleen went to Felicia's. Wallingford met her at the door holding out his hat for a handout. She put money in. When she found out that Tony was coming over she got a bit weird. (Wallingford says they now have $9,328.78.) They told her they wanted to buy Cass more time. Kathleen: This is Tony the Tuna we are dealing with. He is nothing but a lowlife, a sleazeball little gangster, y'know? He's a loan shark that will slit your throat, y'know, he'll smile and smile and he'll slit your throat without even thinking about it. Who knows what he's going to do to Cass? Felicia: Darling that is the point. We're here to help Cass. Wallingford: We don't even know where Cass is, but if Tony is holding him -- Kathleen: I'll tell you what you can do to help Cass. Wallingford: What? Kathleen: Give Tony a taste of his own medicine. Y'know, I could smash his little head in. And I wouldn't even think twice about it. Felicia: Now wait a minute. You can't do this. Kathleen: Why not? It's what Tony does. Felicia: Kathleen -- Kathleen: Felicia, you did not see Cass when Rocco got through with him last night. Or have you forgotten what happened to Wallingford? Felicia: No, of course not, Kathleen. Give me the poker. (It was a very wicked poker. Two little sharp bits.) Kathleen: NO. He's got Cass somewhere. Felicia: You don't know that. Kathleen: Okay, okay, we'll just give him a little taste of medicine, okay, and then we'll tie him to a chair, and then he'll tell us where Cass is. [Ringing of doorbell.] Wallingford: Uh-oh. Tuna time. Felicia: O boy. Nonono, you can't do this. Kathleen: Felicia, I am being perfectly reasonable. Wallingford, go answer the door. Now. Felicia: No, Kathleen. Kathleen: Wallingford, answer the door. The doorbell kept ringing and Felicia kept trying to wrest the wicked poker from Kathleen's grasp and Wallingford helped her to a certain extent. Felicia: Kathleen, would you listen to me? Kathleen: Open the door, Wallingford. Felicia: KATHLEEN. You cannot do this. STOP IT. Tony had bodyguards. If they're not at the door with him, they're waiting outside in his car. If you hurt Tony, then what? Kathleen: Then he'll tell us where Cass is. Felicia: And then what? Kathleen: WHAT DO YOU MEAN, then what? Felicia: There is always a then what, dummy. Then -- do we save Cass? Kathleen: Yeah. Felicia: And then what does Tony do? Do us all in? Would you just THINK? You cannot save Cass by hurting Tony. It just won't work. I know how you feel. Now give me this poker. Kathleen. Wallingford: I've got to answer the door sometime. Felicia: ANSWER IT. Kathleen. Give it to me. Thank you. Tony was admitted but when they offered him the money and said it was for Cass he suspected a setup and proclaimed himself an honest tea merchant. Kathleen asked where Cass is but Tony says he doesn't know.

Mac stopped by Smiley's to talk to Perry. Perry said he's not mad at Nancy. He accused Mac of just wanting to gall Carl but not to be his friend and mentor for any other reason.

Larry and MJ went to Carl's office with an old complaint. Carl had his secretary throw them out. She told them if they came back on any similar errands they'd be charged with harassment.

Kevin wants to go home now. He doesn't appreciate Catlin. Sally thinks he's tired. He's been cranky all day, she says. Everything Catlin says Kevin turns to Sally and says he wants to go home NOW.

Carter and Thomasina returned to the Todds' to find Grant gone to Chicago. Carter suggested they go out to dinner but Tom said she could fix something there. And Carter offered to call Ben & Marley but Tom said no, they were eating with Vince. And Carter wanted to put on some music and Tom said to put on something quiet. He kept asking if she were sure and she said she was.

Larry's going to London. Jamie's pleased. Mac isn't as thrilled. He's depressed by what Perry said. He says Perry despises him.

Wallingford: My brain's going dead. Felicia: Well, there are just so many ways you can make money, Wallingford, so don't feel bad. Wallingford: I wish I knew a good counterfeiter. That would be a wonderful way to pay back Tony, wouldn't it? Felicia: Yeah, except he'd probably know the guy. Wallingford: Oh, that's true. But we mustn't give in to that kind of thinking, Felicia. Felicia: No, you're right. No defeatism in these ranks. Wallingford: That's true. Our worst enemy other than Tony himself is surrender. The phone rang. Wallingford answered. It was MJ calling to see if he had anything for her. Wallingford told her to give him time. Felicia: What was that all about? Wallingford: Um. It was a friend of mine from the amusement park. Felicia: I thought it was closed during the winter. Wallingford: Oh, it is, Felicia. He's worried about the summer. You know, this guy is a chronic worrier. I mean, he's as bad as we are when it comes to Cass. Felicia: And Kathleen. Especially after the way she behaved today. Wallingford: Oh, yeah. She was a real tiger, wasn't she? I mean my heart just leaped when I saw her run to defend her man like that. Felicia: Yeah. You know I think they're capable of doing almost anything. I think that's their problem. That's probably where the CHEMISTRY comes in. Wallingford: I flunked chemistry. Couldn't stand the smell. Felicia: Darling, I'm talking about their emotional chemistry. Wallingford: Oh, the old simpatico stuff. Well, yeah, you've got to admit they are quite a pair, Felicia. Felicia: Yeah. Heaven help 'em.

Kathleen returned home, surprising Ben and Marley canoodling in the kitchen. Ben took Marley home. Vince raved about the uglitude and general awfulness of Cass. Kathleen said Pops, please and he apologized. He asked if she wanted to watch Hill Street with him but she said not tonight. He left. She sat down at the table and said things like where is he and the man of my dreams and where are you.

Carter and Thomasina danced RATHER CLOSE for a bit and then meandered off into a room I presume to be the bedroom.

Larry told Clarice he had to go to London. She doesn't much like it. She worries when he's away. Larry pointed out that Ross is dead and she'd have Catlin (oh, big deal. Catlin, who spends every waking and if possible sleeping hour with Sally or doing something for Sally's sake.) (You know, anyone but Catlin and Clarice and it would be dangerous to leave one's wife with one's brother. But Clarice is such a dimwit and Catlin's never there, so I don't see anything wrong with it. Days of Our Lives would manage it.) Clarice said that the man who paid Ross (viz. Carl) wasn't dead. She still doesn't like it. Larry told her to get it together. He said he'd help when he got back.

MJ returned home. Kathleen pounced on her and asked if folk were looking for Cass. MJ said they were. (Why does she call her father Vince?) She suspects Kathleen of wanting Cass back rather than the car. She left. Kathleen said, "I love him, MJ, and I can't let anything happen to him." The end.
