January 1 was no good, of course. Everything turned into football.
Larry wants the studio searched thoroughly. He's determined to make Carl pay. Catlin's going to go to The Academy today. Clarice is convinced he looks very handsome. Larry insists he looks like a rookie. Sally came over to wish Catlin good luck.
Cass made the front page as Krystle. Kathleen's falling to bits.
Cass is gone. His room was trashed. Wallingford and Felicia are worried. Maisie is much annoyed. (Maisie: All right, where is he? Felicia: He? Uh, who he, Maisie? Maisie: Don't you dare play any more games with me, Felicia. Where's Cass? Wallingford: Cass. Uh. Winthrop. I don't know. Last I heard he was in Majorca. Maisie: Well, ain't that funny. 'Cause last I heard he was livin' right here in this room. Felicia, how could you do this to me?) Maisie is annoyed because she was made a fool of and her business and life put in danger. It says in the paper that Tony the Tuna is a dangerous loan shark and Maisie is convinced he'll firebomb Smiley's, true's you live. Maisie: When I think of all the tuna platters I served that guy, I tell you it makes my blood run cold. Felicia assured her they all feel that way about Tony. Tony appeared in the doorway. He's extremely annoyed at them for hiding Cass. Maisie looks utterly weird. Tony says his patience is running out. Wallingford thinks Tony is responsible for the absence of Cass. Tony left. Maisie's worried. Expect a resurgence of fishface.
MJ is highly entertained by Cass' appearance in the paper and his predicament in general. Kathleen's mad at him but she admitted she loves him. She says he's exciting. BUT she can no longer indulge in this love stuff so she's going to turn her back on him.
Larry's trying to make Catlin nervous. Clarice is trying to stop him. Sally is trying to counteract Larry's teasing. Catlin doesn't want to let Larry and Sally and Kevin down. She says they love him and that's all that matters.
Clarice wants Larry to stop teasing Catlin. She reminded him that he was nervous his first day at The Academy too. Larry hates Carl. Clarice believes that eventually he'll get what's coming to him. And Catlin and Sally will be happy.
Jamie's upset by the lack of evidence. Mac says Carl is smart but not sane and he has to be stopped. Jamie suggested that Perry could help them. Nancy took fits at that and stormed out.
Carl came to speak to Perry at Smiley's. He told him that the police found no evidence to support Mac's story. Carl is convinced that Mac is out to destroy him and steal Perry from him. He says Mac is evil.
Kathleen arrived at Smiley's to tell Cass off. Felicia left. Wallingford told her Cass was gone. She's convinced he'll come back. Wallingford's not.
Nancy apologized for her temper tantrum. Mac said she was in the right. She wants to help Perry.
There are three speaking rookies: ours, an obnoxious male, and a female. O good. The officer in charge is one Catlin saw fit to kick in the stomach during one of his numerous jailbreaks.
A lot of people doing pushups. The officer in charge is sinister.
Sally stopped by to talk to Clarice. She's worried about Catlin's reasons for wanting to be a cop and the DANGER. Clarice says she worries about Larry if he's late and the phone rings. Sally reflected glumly that she gets a lot of calls during the day. Clarice thinks he's going to be happy.
Felicia: Please, Maisie, I'm begging you, say you don't hate me. Maisie: Felicia, I couldn't ever hate you. I mean I'm mad enough to spit but I don't hate you. Felicia: I know, I know. Why don't you just haul off and smash me in the face. I want you to. It'll make me feel better. Maisie said she should hit Cass. Felicia said unfortunately Tony had beaten them to it.
Nancy came to see Perry. The meeting did not go well. He needs to think. She left.
Wallingford told Kathleen that Cass cared a great deal for her. Kathleen said nothing during his speech and then suddenly breathed "My car. My car. He stole my car," and kissed Wallingford exuberantly before rushing out.
Felicia advised Perry not to be so hard on himself so that he & Nancy will be happy. She said she loved him. He said he loved her.
Carl found out that Mac bought something and ordered the contract with that something cancelled. He called Mac to tell him he refused to do business with him. Mac was satisfied. Carl was angry.
MJ and Jamie are both on edge over Carl's case. Jamie left. Clarice arrived. MJ says she thinks Kathleen thinks the whole thing with Cass is kind of romantic. Just her and this guy against the mob. Clarice found the courage to drive herself down there. She and Larry went to lunch to celebrate.
Sally went to the Corys' with some sketches. Nancy returned home in tears. When Ada went to get Mac Sally asked Nancy what was wrong. Nancy said all she wanted was to be with Perry but something was always keeping them apart. Sally said that for a long time she was saying that about Catlin and herself but although it was hard at the time they appreciated each other more now because they had to fight to be together. Nancy cheered up somewhat.
The rookies have returned from a six-mile run. The obnoxious one is dying. Catlin did quite well and the female did still better. The officer in charge declared that now they were going to have some fun. A martial arts demonstration.
MJ's upset because Jamie's so hyper about everything. She's talking to Larry about it. All of a sudden Kathleen burst in. Kathleen: Cass Winthrop stole my car. MJ: What? Kathleen: You heard me. He stole my car and I want him arrested. NOW.
Catlin is going to be our guinea pig. We're going to use him to show how any assailant can be completely neutralized. Catlin was instructed to attack as with a knife. He did and was thrown. Officer in charge: I know that went by fast, so we're going to do it again. Get up, Ewing. Catlin got up with murder (or blood, as Kathleen would say) in his eye. O dear. That officer certainly has it in for him. (Ed. Note: the look on Catlin's face caused me to laugh myself silly.)
