The manta del diablo caused Vince a lot of pain. Mary added more.
Cheryl waited in the parking garage for a man called named Bernie. When MJ and Adam cruised past she didn't tell MJ what she was doing. They went up. Bernie was not pleased to see her.
When MJ and Adam got up to Tops Adam had to answer his beeper; immediately Chad moved in on MJ. She told him not to call her baby. He suggested she ditch "the good sergeant" and spend the evening with him. She refused. He swore he'd change her mind about him and wandered off. Adam returned and told MJ he had to dash out to the Love mansion because Donna was missing. He asked her to wait there for him.
Nicole was shocked when she was notified of Donna's disappearance. She told her father about it. Reginald was shocked. Peter soothed him. Michael burst in and started accusing That Old Carrot of having had a hand in it. Reginald denied everything. Peter tried to protect his father. Michael ignored him. Nicole tried to keep the peace. Adam arrived. Michael pointed the finger at Reginald. Adam said none of the evidence did. Reginald proclaimed his innocence. [He was very dull and self-righteous about it. Cf Carl, "And clarions of angels shall trumpet: he is innocent. I am. Innocent as a lamb," quoth he. Is it any wonder I prefer Carl to a carrot?] He said that those responsible would pay [I wonder if Peter had anything to do with this without his father's knowledge? He is supposed to tell That Old Carrot a secret this week. I hope they remember that Donna had Perry brick up the cellar room.]
MJ thought about Adam in the car outside the Pig Whistle and then Chad before the parent party. Chad slithered up and pestered her a little. She tried to get rid of him. He went nowhere. She stomped off. He followed her and told her they'd need each other soon. She said she couldn't stand being near him and said she was going to Mary's Place. Chad told Linda to meet her client at Mary's Place. She sort of threatened to tell the McKinnons about MJ's sordid past. He warned her not to.
Bernie was most unhelpful. He's Mrs. Markham's boyfriend. Her husband is his boss. She tried to convince him that no one would find out. She produced $100 as an inducement. He snatched it and ran back to work. MJ appeared and demanded to know what Cheryl was doing. She yelled at her for investigating in a parking garage.
Mary said she would have to phone the hospital if Vince got any sicker. He asked her word that she wouldn't do it.
Nancy has to cover for Maisie. Maisie and Dave burbled in. Maisie told Nancy that Dave's "special lady" had been the Alice Kay Landau. His ship. They had their first kiss in the engine room. It's very serious. Maisie is very happy. Nancy and Tony are very happy. Greg slunk in and pulled up a table. Tony got a call and rushed off to investigate a big bust and the Pig Whistle. Nancy noticed Greg. MJ and Cheryl stomped in, arguing. Linda sent her john on ahead. MJ stomped up to her and warned her she was taking a risk. Linda threatened to tell her family on her.
Peter was suspiciously eager to be in charge of security's investigation into Donna's disappearance and to get rid of everyone in the room who didn't belong there. Scott came in and advised Michael not to blame Reginald for things just because he'd got into the habit of it. Michael saw the sense of it and taking Adam by the hand he spoke a word and called him by name [
Vince begged for Mary's word. He said she had always been trustworthy. At last he beat her down to a promise that she wouldn't call the hospital now. She didn't like it but he was relieved. Someone phoned with Bad News.
Cheryl told Scott how stupid she'd been. She was defensive. She asked for his help. He asked if she wanted the truth or Reginald's head. She said she wanted the truth.
Greg told Nancy he thought there was something she should know about Tony.
MJ and Linda bitched at each other. MJ told her never to come into her family's restaurant again.
Michael and Adam repaired to Michael's office. They decided to enlist Jamie's aid and interrogate the ambulance guys, Paul and Sandra. Paul said he'd lost his job. Adam asked how come he'd been throwing $100 bills around. Paul said he had taken it out of the bank for the hell of it. Adam bullied Sandra a little. She said she wanted to go home. He couldn't get anything out of them so he let them go. He's having them followed.
Nicole fretted about Donna. Peter tried to get rid of her so he could be alone with Reginald. Reginald is worried about Donna.
The heat in the building has been shut off. Mary heaped blankets on Vince. [He's going to require body heat, I can tell.]
Maisie told an unknown caller that MJ could be reached at Michael's office. Then she kicked herself for having given out the information. She's going to Tops with Dave.
Scott agreed to let Cheryl come with him to talk to Bernie if she shut up.
Greg's warning was nebulous. He doesn't trust Tony. [Tony the Ripper?] It's in his eyes. Nancy accused him of jealousy. [Greg the Ripper?]
Mary heaped coats on Vince. In desperation she lay down beside him. Body heat, what did I tell you?
Scott threatened to tell Mr Markham about Bernie and Mrs. Markham. Bernie returned the money.
MJ arrived at Michael's office. Donna has been lost with a mink. Chad phoned and told MJ to meet him at his apartment. She had to agree. Exit MJ. Exit Adam [not in pursuit]. Enter Nicole, breathing fire.
Peter has something thrilling to tell Reginald. [Reginald really doesn't seem to know anything about Donna's disappearance.]
