ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

March 12, 1985

Kathleen misinterpreted a scratching at her back door as Prometheus. It was in fact Cass in extreme pain after having spent the night in his car in the parking lot of the Bay City Towers. Kathleen expressed sympathy. She gave him a chair and set about procuring coffee. He coughed and sneezed. He's annoyed with Cecile. Cass: How am I going to get money for another place? I mean my needs are modest, I just need a little corner to drag my weary bones to once a day, five or six hours -- do you have any honey for this, Kathleen? (He's helped himself to her cornflakes. He does have a tendency to appropriate food not his own. I cite Catlin's shrimp.) I like honey. In fact, I like this room. I've always liked this room. It's very warm and cosy. It's -- it's got that lived-in feeling, y'know? Kathleen: OH, I get it. Cass: What, darling? Kathleen: It's all becoming very clear to me. Cass: Oh, is that so, my dearest love? Kathleen: You changed your mind about moving in here. CASS, LOOK AT ME.

"And clarions of angels shall trumpet: He is innocent. I am. Innocent as a lamb." Carl at the police station. Larry maintains that Carl is far from innocent. He's to be extradited to Chicago. He's wanted there for attempted murder. (Far from being merely in cahoots with Carl, I've decided that Peter is Carl's superior and giving the orders and he had David killed in hopes that Sally would be restored to him.) Larry taxed him with Rachel. Carl says he never meant to hurt Rachel. He asked if she'd live.

Rachel's still critical. Mac can't see her. Joyce gave him Rachel's wedding ring.

Carl's to be taken to the interrogation room. He asked to see Perry. MJ said they'd take care of it. Carl left. MJ exploded at his ARROGANCE. Larry hates it too. He says Carl will be sitting in a federal pen for the rest of his life. MJ went to call Perry.

Corys worrying and hoping. Nancy refuses to go home. Alice came out and described in gory detail what they have to do. Mac gave permission. There's no change.

Kathleen says she'll ask her father. She told Cass her father wouldn't appreciate nocturnal carryings-on. They have to go to work.

Perry at the hospital with Nancy. Nancy doesn't seem to blame Carl very much. She enumerated his virtues and said he loved Perry. Perry said he wanted to hate him. Joyce told him MJ called.

Cass went to the penthouse to see Dee & Lily. Dee's been making progress. Lily found an ad in the paper placed by Jerome Cartwright III (custodian of VERY OLD money) looking for a publisher. Cass was thrilled. He sees a way to get another letter of recommendation. Lily got the social register for him. She found some of Dee's sketches in it and was enthusiastic. Cass paid no attention. He found Cartwright was indeed vair' rich and respected and prepared to call him. He keeps calling Dee his little duckling.

Donna came to see Carl. She made a very stirring speech about loving Carl and being on his side and always with him in spirit. He reminded her of the thwarted kidnapping of her. She said no one knew him like she did and he'd been under pressure. "Not one cent, Bella, not one bloody cent," he said.

Further details from Alice. She's letting Mac and Ada see her. One at a time. Mac urged Rachel not to die. She opened her eyes. He ran for Joyce. Joyce and Alice returned. Rachel closed her eyes again. They told him it didn't mean anything. Mac left begging Alice not to let her die.

Cass really laid it on thick in his call to Jerome. He found Dee's sketches and was impressed. She was embarrassed and got defensive. He said he'd love it if she could find time to do one for him. She was pleased though determined not to show it. She left the room in seventh heaven to put the sketches away.

Carl told Donna she was as transparent as ice. She says she needs the money and took fits. He was unperturbed. Said she had poison in her veins and he'd earned every penny of the money by putting up with her. He called the guard. She continued to rant at him. He kissed her savagely and said she should start looking for a job and left with the guard. She fingered her lips.

Ada encouraged Rachel. Her first born. They all need her. She's tough.

Perry came to see Carl. He asked him why wealth and power and family weren't enough. Carl said he couldn't understand. He said this couldn't've been prevented. Perry said there was no excuse. Carl said there didn't need to be one. He apologized to Perry for hurting and neglecting and demanding things from him. Carl said he admired him and said he couldn't let what he [Carl] had done ruin his life. He said he loved him and left. Perry cried.

Cass told Kathleen about Jerome. She says they still need a third letter. Vince arrived. Kathleen broached the subject of Cass' moving in.

MJ and Jamie discussed Barnes & Rachel. Carl was brought in.

Vince agreed. Kathleen was delighted and rushed off the change. Vince let Cass know he wasn't to roam in the night.

Jamie looked at Carl with utter loathing. Carl said sincerely he was sincerely sorry about his mother. Jamie just hopes he pays. He called him despicable. Carl said it wasn't over and he'd return to finish it. Jamie said it was finished and left.

It's too dangerous to remove the bullet yet. Mac's allowed to sit with Rachel again. He's silent this time. Crying but no talking.
