ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

December 3, 1987

Amanda rushed to Rachel's side. Rachel told her about Liz' telling Mac. Amanda felt guilty. She decided to try to stop Mac or Sam. Rachel said it was too late.

Adam tried to explain the concept of Cass and Rex to people who might shoot. He issued orders that no one was to fire first.

The officer told Cass to assume the position. Nicole and Cass spotted Rex and tried to get the officer to fall in love with him instead, but he only had eyes for Cass. Cass moved to get Rex himself. The officer threatened to shoot. Nicole threw herself in front of Cass. Rex escaped. Backup arrived and grabbed Cass' arms. No one made a move to go after Rex.

Felicia and Mitch fought. Felicia told Lisa the imposture story. She remembered the cigarette. Mitch continues to doubt. Mac appeared looking for Sam. He and Mitch did not see eye to eye. Enter Sam. Exit Mac, leaving curt instructions for Sam to meet him in his office in twenty. Mitch told Sam Mac knew all. Sam left. Mitch said he'd meet him there. He conferred with Felicia, who let on she didn't care if he stayed. Exit Mitch. Wally advised her not to be so hard on him.

Jamie was incredulous. Guess why. Adam confided in him. [I can't imagine why.] Victoria phoned for news on Nicole. Adam's voice softened when he spoke to her. When he heard Nicole and Cass had been found he suggested she come to the police station to wait. She flew. [without even being aware of Jamie's presence.] Jamie told Adam how nice it was he was so concerned about Nicole's feelings. Jamie's like that. Adam had the grace to look ashamed. He suggested they double date. Jamie's jaw dropped.

Amanda was unable to locate Sam. She said it would be terrible for Mac to fire so-talented. Rachel had doubts about her own motives in lying to Mac.

Jamie accused Adam of being cryptic. Adam asked him to attend to both Lisa and Vicky because he might be late. Jamie realized the Powerhouse was down by the docks. Adam wants Rex to see him dancing and say: bête noire! [To account for the French.] Adam Cory is amusing himself with no regard for my actions, because life is la folie. Ergo, the police do not care. Nicole and Cass were brought in. They said Cass was Cass. Adam told them to prove it.

Amanda attempted to plead with Mac. Mac told her to leave. He refused to listen to Rachel, too. Sam and Mitch arrived. Mac took Sam into his office alone. Rachel told Mitch to leave them to it.

Jamie protected Vicky from the press and got her safely to Nicole's arms. Nicole said she'd seen Rex and Cass together and heard Rex call Cass by name. Cass swore it on Kathleen's soul. Adam had the cuffs taken off. Jamie took Vicky aside and asked her to attend the double date. She said she trusted him. Adam wouldn't let Felicia and Wally in. Cass thanked Nicole for sticking up for him.

Mac used words like confederate and deception. Sam insisted that his talent outweighed other considerations. Rachel and Mitch walked in.

Adam sent the press home. Then he beamed at Cass. Cass smiled. Adam said he should stay put. Cass insisted he was so well acquainted with Rex that he should be allowed to help. Adam gave him Kathleen's journal. He forbade him to grow a mustache and presented him with an identifying ring. ["Does this mean we're going steady?"] Cass wants to be involved. A large cop stood in his way. Felicia and Wally chatted with Nicole. They assured her Rex had been so convincing she could not fault herself for trusting him. Nicole enthused about the real Cass.

Chad was uncivil to Scott. Scott found out that the mother had been a prostitute. He assured him he wouldn't tell Dawn about it.

Rachel told Mac not to blame Sam. Mitch and Rachel fought for the blame. Mitch told Mac if he had to fire anyone fire him. Mac realized it was between him and Mitch. Rachel headed home. Sam went to wait outside.

Adam tried to convince Cass to stay out of it. He told him a little about John's boat. He hopes that Rex will decide to charter John's boat, since John was arrested. Cass lowered his eyes demurely and promised to stay home and knit. Nicole waylaid Cass in the hall to express womanly concern. He brushed her off. She looked sorrowful. He ran to Felicia and Wally. They embraced. He told them to go on ahead so they wouldn't be seen with him. They were suspicious.

Adam arrived at the Powerhouse. He joined Lisa and Victoria. A man with a mustache summoned him to the phone. In a shocking departure from precedent, Victoria refused to visit the powder room with Lisa, but offered to keep Jamie warm in her absence. Jamie insisted they dance, for Adam's sake. She became exceedingly familiar.

Sam burst back in. Mitch offered to resign. Sam counteroffered. Mac said he merely resented being lied to. He asked if he [Sam] could behave himself. Sam said he could. Mac warned him he was to stay away from his daughter. Puzzled, Sam readily agreed. Sam asked who his daughter was.

Scott told Dawn Chad had covered the father search ages ago and hadn't found anything either. She was disappointed. Jamie was concerned when she said she felt tired. Victoria looked wistful as Lisa reclaimed Jamie. Adam thought of Rex and looked purposeful.

Cass hid behind a gas pump by the docks.
