Kathleen went to Lesoleil to see Daphne but she's not in. Cass appeared with three lovely women. "She just stepped out for a minute. Hello, ladies. But perhaps you'd like to get in line to see me. You're a little . . . off-type . . . for the position but I'll be glad to give you the courtesy of an interview."
Adrienne asked Tommy Lee where he'd gone in the middle of the night. The Man in Chicago wants him in Chicago tomorrow with Larry's stuff. He's impatient. Tommy Lee's worried.
Larry and Cory are going fishing. Clarice isn't speaking to her husband although he's trying to get at least a politeness.
Marley's coming home today. Victoria's happy about it. She says Marley's sweet and strong. She wants to get to know the Loves alone. Jake arrived and Vic got insane and mad. He got rid of Bridget and she accused him of wanting Marley's innocence. He said he wanted her. He told her he had to pretend to like Marley so much to get to see her. Donna and Marley appeared. Victoria stood in the background making faces as Jake sprang forward to greet Marley.
Kathleen: Thanks, but no thanks, Cass. Cass: No thanks to what, Kathleen? By the way, ladies, why don't you go ahead and make yourselves comfortable. I'll be right with you. Kathleen: I am not a candidate for the Lesoleil Woman. Although every woman would jump at the chance, of course. Cass: Well they are. But these beautiful women aren't here for that. They're vying to become my secretary. Kathleen: Thank you SO much Cass but my vying days are over. Cass: All vied out, are we, Kathleen? Kathleen: Oh, yes. Daniel appeared and he and Kathleen entered into a lively chat about architecture. Cass' two cents served only to humiliate (as far as Cass can be humiliated). He offered to put in a good word for Kathleen with Daphne. She thanked him and kept chatting with Daniel. He suggested she come into his office and lay it out for him. She'll wait for Daphne. Further chat with Daniel. They decided to go to lunch. Cass was disgruntled. "Yeesh." He began interviewing secretaries with extraordinary vim.
Larry left a message for Capt. Delaney to call him at the pay phone next to the dock.
Jake was sent to get Marley's bags. Marley wanted Vic to come upstairs. She stayed behind to listen to Bridget tell her to cheer up and not be jealous. Vic's determined to become a member of the family whether they like it or not. She thinks they don't like it.
Marley asked Jake to stay to lunch but he declined. Donna was peeved that Victoria hadn't come up. She was burrowing in the closet so Jake said the coast was clear and kissed her and left. Marley looked dazed and wondering and thrilled.
In staying close to the pay phone they're in a bad fishing place. Cory asked what was wrong. Why does Mom cry all the time and why is Larry sleeping on the couch. Larry assured him everything was all right and he loved them very much and they weren't going to get a divorce.
Tommy Lee told Adrienne to call Larry. She protested on the grounds that his wife might be home and it was risky. He insisted. He dialled. Clarice answered before he gave Adrienne the receiver. Adrienne said "Hi it's me can you break away for a little while?" Clarice looked violently upset and hung up.
Vic's mad. Jake told her Donna'd been with him and Marley and NOTHING HAPPENED. "Someone sure has a guilty conscience." They kissed rather a lot and he told her to come to Smiley's. Enter Donna. Exit Jake. Donna said Marley was very fond of him.
Daniel and Kathleen are likely to have further meals. They discussed architecture some more. She knows his work. He is "single, busy, and happy." He looks like to stay in Bay City for a while. She's pleased.
Larry and Cory had a chat about drugs. Phone call. Larry wants money to send his family to Canada. Get them out of the thick of things.
Nancy looked at the Perry box. Marley called and invited her over. Ada appeared and told Nancy to do something about the box, not dwell on it. She told her there was a wonderful special person to share her life.
Cass is insane. Daniel & Kathleen have not returned. He sent Roberts to discreetly check Mr Gabriel's office. He called Cory Publishing but hung up when Michaud appeared. Michaud asked about the Lesoleil Woman. Cass said they were progressing nicely (not letting on he was still dwelling on secretaries). Michaud wants THE SUN -- energy, light, purity, gold, wonder. In one woman.
Marley thought about Jake, Substitute McKinnon. Enter Vic. Stilted friendly small talk. Marley said some incredibly drippy things (not up there with the stars being God's daisy chain, however) about salad. They discussed twinness and Marley's dreams. Vic told her she was sweet and innocent and strong. Marley said she was brave and generous. She apologized for her rotten childhood. Vic went to explore. Marley wanted to go too but she's not terribly well. She wanted her to be sure and be there for lunch to meet Nancy. Vic said she'd better fix her hair.
Larry and Cory returned home with fish. Cory went into the back yard. Clarice appeared with a suitcase.
Joyful reunion of Nancy and Marley. Nancy was thrilled to hear Jake had been by. Enter Victoria on her way out. Nancy mentioned the Plains Motel again. Vic said she'd never heard of it and made as if to go when Donna caught sight of HER HAIRCOMB.
Cass can't find one woman with all of the things. Kathleen and Daniel returned. She's going to do an article on him. Michaud came and borrowed Daniel. Kathleen went to make an appointment with him. Cass was unthrilled.
Clarice told Larry she was sick of his lies and he was to get out right now. She'd seen his Canada pamphlets and figured he was going off with the floozy on the phone.
Donna said the comb was identical to the one found near Perry. Nancy "Were -- were you there? Were you there when Perry fell?"
