Kanata Municipal Elections
Monday November 10, 1997

R E S U L T

The elections were for mayor and councillors for the four Kanata wards, Regional Councillor, Regional Chairman, two Public and two Separate School Board trustees.

We hoped to provide you accessible information to help you make the right choice for you on November 10. We also strongly recommended you tune in to CKCU 93.1 FM 8 - 9 am every morning. CKCU interviewed many area candidates.

Comment - This election may be of crucial importance to this city as it continues to expand and attract significant industrial growth, yet my experience doing some door-to-door canvasing suggests that although most folk are aware there is an election coming up, they are not well informed or concerned about these issues. As with all elections, people seem much more worried about matters that affect their own immediate neighbourhood.

There have been few all candidates debates, and some that are held were poorly advertised. On this site we tried to make up for this by publicising all relevant events we heared about.

The election was particularly important since those who are elected will be responsible for some crucial matters for Kanata's future:
