Lance, his wife Keitha and their three daughters have resided in Bridlewood since 1983. Over the past 14 years, Lance has been actively involved in many local Community organizations.
Lance Mitchell has served as President (2 years), Vice-President, Treasurer (3 years) and Secretary of the Bridlewood Community Association over an 11 year period. Lance organized many BCA social activities, and in his role as Chairman of the BCA Development Committee , Lance co-ordinated community input to proposed subdivision plans.
Lance Mitchell has been a board member of the Bridlewood Child Learning Centre, the Bluegrass Co-op Nursery School and the Kanata Public Library. Lance has also served for many years on the Bridlewood Community Elementary School PTA.
Roads - Lance Mitchell has long championed better access to Richmond Road. In 1991, Lance organized the BCA petition to keep the Scissons Road temporary access open in spite of City of Nepeans desire to close it. In 1996, Lance worked hard to see Minto complete the Stonehaven/ Richmond intersection. And this summer, Lance expedited the arrangement to upgrade the temporary road portion of Stonehaven , which is now to be completed by June 1998 years ahead of the developers proposed schedule. Schools - In 1994, Lance Mitchell organized a petition to the Ontario Government requesting a second public elementary school in Bridlewood and personally delivered it to Toronto. Bridlewoods new school will open in September 1998.

Lance Mitchell was elected to City Council in the March 1996 Special Election, and has served as Bridlewoods representative since that time. Lance has delivered on his election promises, namely:
Lance is a Chartered Accountant and holds a MBA degree. He is employed as a Senior Financial Analyst for the Department of National Defence.
