Des and Wynne were quite poor when they arrived in Canada from England, but sometimes Wynne would "economize" a bit too far. You can hear Des's frustration in this piece.
To Wynne
We wait for Christmas to buy such things
And delight in the pleasure it brings
But it really is quite maddening
To see clothes deteriorating
Then with procrastination
Wait for this festive occasion
To get what we really ought
Months ago to have bought
So wear it now, don't delay
Throw the other damn thing away!
Fondest Love, Des
