Ferry for Isle of Wight

Yesterday was one of those days when I feel like shouting with happiness & saying to all the people who've ever said my imaginary world didn't exist: "Here it is. This is where I've always lived!"

I started out from Salisbury following the railway on the A30, then turned north after Wilton. Wilton is a lovely old town with thatched roof cottages & a place called Wilton House. I would have gone in, but it wasn't on my open to view & it was rather expensive. There was a "Parish Fete" in the garden, the first of many midsummer "fetes" of "fayres" I saw during the day. Then I followed the river Wylye through Great Wishford (more T.R.C.s) & Little Langford. I tured north again there onto a road marked "unsuitable for motors." It was a nice road onto Salisbury Plain with a good view of the large farms, but just as it approached the A303 it turned into a pair of narrow paths through a field. At the top of the road, a place called Yarnbury Castle was marked on my map. What it was was a huge double ring of heaped up earth with grass & cows covering it. There were a few ancient stones around the edge & one in the centre. The most lovely thing about it, though, was that I was the only person there; no tourists at all!
