Uncle Roy had the whole day off work so he drove me around to three bike shops in the afternoon. The second two had the type of bike I wanted at similar prices but the guy in the second shop impressed me more as a cyclist so we went back there and bought a beautiful purple ten-speed bike. He had to service it & adjust it so we went back home for a snack then returned & I rode it back through rush hour traffic. My main problem was (and still is) getting my feet into the toe-clips on the pedals at the start. When we got back, we had supper & then I phoned you.
The next day, Wednesday, I caught the train into London at 9 o'clock and arrived at the Tower of London just as it opened. I saw the ravens, the Crown Jewels (fabulous!!!) the execution block & five million suits of armour. I then walked over to St. Paul's Cathedral and went all around there (more superlatives!!!!) I climbed all the stairs right to the very top & whispered in the gallery. I think the ceilings in there are the most beautiful I've ever seen.
