–
Kathryn's grandson Leo was here for a week in August.
Bring On The Bay Volunteering
–
We have been helping out at the Bring On The Bay charity swim since . In earlier years we provided the first safety boat in the swim and then last year we handled dock duty. This year we did "mark inflation" duties on Friday afternoon and very early Saturday morning. This year there were 800 swimmers, which was a record.
Hurricane Beryl
Today Hurricane Beryl arrived, with lots of rain. Last evening though as it arrived it gave us a memorable sunset.
Biking the Osgoode Link Pathway
Today we biked south on the Osgoode Link Pathway, with lunch at Bakker's General Store and a stop at the pathway rest stop.
Biking to Osgoode Again
Today was our second bike ride to Osgoode and back this year. We still had to use the roads for the first part of the trip as the new bike path is still not completed. We had lunch at the new takeout restaurant there, Fry2go, which was pretty good.
Biking to Osgoode
Today was our first bike ride to Osgoode and back this year. Unfortunately our favourite Mexican takeout place, La Cantina, has closed and the location is now a new fry restaurant.
First Sail of the Season
We had ten days since launch of high winds, rain and cold temperatures, but we got in our first sail of 2024 on Vesper.
Vesper is Launched
This was our earliest year for Vesper's launch.
Trip to Vancouver
–
In April we did a week long trip to Vancouver, visited family, high school friends and attended Heather and Sara's wedding on Granville Island.
Spring Hike in Gatineau Park
With ski season long over and the snow and ice in Gatineau Park diminishing, we did a hike with Alexis from P20 to Lusk Cabin, with a stopover on the way back at Renaud Cabin.
Skating on the Rink of Dreams
Winter made a bit of a return in late March along with all the salt the city loves to dump everywhere, making biking perilous, so we did more ice skating, including a night skate on the Rink of Dreams.
Biking Season Starts
With spring definitely here and the ski season long done, we did our first bike ride a month earlier than last year.
Hiking Trail 70 to Healey Cabin
With a high temperature of +12°C, skiing was off and the snow was too hard packed for snowshoeing, so we did a hike from the new P15 lot in the Meech Valley to Healey Cabin and back for a picnic lunch.
Skiing Trails 50, 55 & 54 to Lusk Cabin
Today we skied from P20 to Lusk Cabin and back for 8 km.
