Jake pursued Marley. She told him she needed time. Michael and Donna found her yelling at him.
Mitch asked Jimmy, the guy who had pointed out the white collar criminals to him, about Golden Boy, Doc Aspen, and Drew Marsden. He hung up when Felicia came up. She suggested a yachting trip. He asked for a raincheck and ran off to work.
Nicole overslept. When she rushed into the bathroom and brushed her teeth she found Cass had written on her mirror in lipstick. "N.L. HOW ABOUT LUNCH? C.W." Furious, Nicole snatched a lipstick and wrote on his mirror [description of bathroom: black tile. A largeish open tub is located at the back, and then there's a door on each side, kind of like the Brady Bunch. Then there's a sink with a mirror on each side. This bathroom is about the same size as my bedroom, and the bedrooms are about the size of my whole house.] "SORRY NO!!!" and stomped back into her room. Cass came through and asked why not. She clutched her robe more tightly about herself. They argued. She said she had a lunch date with Drew. He said he hoped she'd be able to stay awake for it. She: you're the only person I know who associates romance with boredom. He claimed to be romantic and said she didn't appreciate his efforts just because they were his efforts. She warned him not to send the Countess Swajeska after her. He said she wasn't worth it.
Marley said maybe she and Jake should move out. She and Jake fled without explanation. Michael wondered what Jake had done. Donna reprimanded him for assuming Jake was in the wrong. [OH. Donna doesn't like Jake when she's behaving properly.] He agreed to stay out of it. Donna said a second honeymoon might do them good. Michael sat Donna down and asked how she'd feel about having Mikey. Jake walked out past them.
Drew assured someone he was close with someone. Mitch dropped by and admired Drew's ring. He told him he knew who he was and what he was up to. Drew asked who he was. Mitch called him Golden Boy. Drew pretended not to know what he was talking about. Mitch persisted. Drew accused him of working for Cory. Mitch said he worked alone. Drew didn't believe him. Drew: to me, losing a business deal is like LOSING SOMEONE YOU LOVE. Mitch: is that a threat? Drew: consider it a philosophy. He had Mitch leave. Mitch told him to give his best to Doc.
Zack and Scott giggled about a case they have involving a nudist family with opportunely-placed windows. Jake came in, seeking legal advice for a friend. Zack left. Jake asked about divorce.
Marley complained to Donna that Jake wouldn't give her time to sort herself out. Donna suggested she go to the beach house. Marley said Jake would just follow her there. Donna said it was proof he loved her. She said she couldn't expect Jake not to make mistakes. Marley asked if she was too demanding. Donna said that Marley and Michael were perfect and they should be patient with their imperfect spouses. Marley said she wanted to make the marriage work but she wasn't sure she could right now.
Cass saw Nicole and said "bon appetit." Nicole interpreted this as some kind of barb. Cheryl came in. Cass said he had a lunch date with someone beautiful with a sense of fun and a zest for life. Cheryl asked who it was. Cass said he wasn't the type to eat and tell. He left in a dignified manner. Cheryl told Nicole she thought she handled men well. SHE MEANT IT SERIOUSLY. She wanted a fancy dress to impress Scott, she admitted. Nicole advised her to go for it.
Physical or mental cruelty did not satisfy Jake. Scott told him adultery was a good bet. Jake looked like someone who had recently committed adultery. He seemed to think it wasn't fair that an adulterer could be divorced if he didn't want to be. Scott said his friend should talk to his wife. Zack returned. Jake left.
Donna welcomed Michael home. He didn't like it when she called him perfect. He said they were the perfect couple. He suggested they spread a little perfection Mikey's way. Donna reacted badly. Michael said it would only be temporary. Donna said they'd never get rid of him. She refused to do it.
Cheryl brought food to Scott. He admired her new dress.
Cass lunched with Felicia. She thought he was a bit overboard about Drew. She said Nicole would come to her senses soon enough.
Drew and Nicole picnicked. Nicole was deliriously happy until Drew was disdainful about humdinger pies, unamused by a stupid joke she made, and when she noticed his picnic was above ants.
Scott and Cheryl chatted. She told him about her restlessness. Zack came in. Cheryl said she'd leave them to their work. Scott told Zack Cheryl was getting older.
Drew flattered Nicole. She admitted to childlike curiosity. She made him stop stroking her arms. He got beeped and took a phone from the picnic basket.
Marley and Jake came up to Tops. He told her he'd thought the woman had he'd married was forgiving. [how insidious.] She told him sleeping around was unforgivable. He said it had happened only once while working on a video. She blamed it on California. He swore it wouldn't happen again. She sighed. He said she owed it to him as her husband to prove he could do it. That made her mad. She said she didn't think she could ever trust him again and got up to leave.
Drew mentioned to Nicole he'd never seen her bedroom. She put him off saying it was messy. He left her at her door, having kissed her goodbye. She went to the door connecting her room to the common bathroom. Cass was on the other side. Both hesitated and retreated.
Donna considered perfection. Michael found her doing thank-you notes. She told him she knew his concern for Mikey was genuine and she owed it to him to try. He promised it would only be temporary. She said she wouldn't get emotionally attached. Michael said he had something to tell her. Donna went to answer the door. In came a woman carrying Mikey and his bunny. Mikey was thrilled to see Michael. "Money fella!" he cried. "you already had this planned," said Donna accusingly.
Felicia put water and flowers in a vase. She spilled some water. She asked someone to check the power. Her hand was wet when she went to touch the microphone as Mitch came up.
