Ada told Larry about Catlin & Sally in Majorca. She told MJ Kathleen was there and all right. The McKinnons hadn't known she was there.
Sally and Catlin are at that old house. Sally put it in order while he went to get their passports.
Felicia is talking to Kathleen on the phone. Lily and Wallingford are in the background singing "FRIENDship. FRIENDship. Just the perfect blendship. When other friendships are soon forgot ours will still be hot." Kathleen says Cecile's a pill.
Sally's whipping cream like mad for strawberry shortcake. Sally feels like she deserted Kevin. Catlin wanted to go for a walk but she sloshed whipped cream at him so it seems to be turning out to be more of a mad pursuit. He said she's dead. Done for.
Cecile's making nasty comments. Viciously barbed. Kathleen is getting a few digs in herself. Kathleen is defending Cass. She asked Cecile about Peter. Cecile doesn't sound enthusiastic but she says she loves them both. She asked Kathleen if she's ever been in love. Kathleen said yes. Cecile got a phone call after Kathleen went to pack. She's entertaining some idea involving a Frenchman. She wrote some sort of note.
Cass returned to find Cecile gone. He and Kathleen found the note. It told him to go to some other hotel. Cass yelled at Kathleen for not finding out who made the phone call or that Cecile was sneaking out. He then made her come to the other hotel with him. (She was violently opposed but she went anyway. Cass' powers of persuasion. Oooh.)
Nancy's thrilled about Catlin. She's going to go riding with Perry. She feels caught in the middle because of this Mac/Carl thing. Ada told her not to worry.
More whipped cream going to waste to no purpose.
Carl wants to have a talk with Nancy. He makes Mac seem unreasonable. He asked Nancy her opinion. She's giving very weird answers. Nancy's taken in by Carl.
Cass can't find Cecile at the hotel. They know her at the hotel. The Countess de Poulignac left a note for Seņor Winthrop telling him to go to some harbour or other. ("What is this, a treasure hunt?" says Kathleen. "And we'll find the next note stuffed in a bottle, floating along the waves, right? This is SO MUCH FUN, don't you think?") They're going to the harbour.
Wet sounds. Probably Cecile making good her escape.
Perry apologized for being late and sticking Nancy with his father. Nancy found Carl charming. They talked about their respective fatherless states. (Gives you an idea of Perry & Carl's relationship.) General discussion of Mac's attributes. Which disintegrated into a discussion of Perry wanting to be MORE than just the best friend Nancy's ever had.
Cecile's not shown up yet. Cass wants Kathleen to know how much he appreciates her help. And he said generously, "Another time, another place, and who knows what might have happened?" She told him Cecile isn't the type of woman he thinks she is. He told her it was natural for her to experience some sort of jealousy. (The conceit of this man!)
Carl is on the phone. He's making sure the Majorcan mess cannot be tied to him in any way. He doesn't want it to get in the way of his campaign against Mac. "Nothing can stop me now," he said evilly. (He is, after all, pure evil. He's entitled.)
I think Sally's been caught down by the beach. She's begging him not to make her pay for the whipped creaming like he said she had to. She says she'll wash it off. * Music with vocals. Wave sounds in the background. Pounding surf.
Cecile showed up. She's not going back to the states. She says love doesn't conquer all and she needs more. "Vaya con dios, querido," she said in a broken voice (to the accompaniment of stirring dramatic music).** Cass called after Cecile (who is leaving with her rich Frenchman I believe). He's realised he's been making a fool of himself for the past 6 months over her. Kathleen was sympathetic. Cass: You're a bitch, Cecile. You always were and you always will be. He wants to go home.
** Cecile's departure was utterly melodramatic. She called out to him about there always being a place in her heart for him.↩
By the way it wasn't "fantasize" in one of the lines I couldn't make out but "without any sacrifice." Just thought you'd like to know.
I guess the world isn't safe for Athenian democracy after all. They'll be waiting for the quiet evenfall.
