Jamie's news for Michael was that Donna's medication had changed. This seemed to indicate an improvement, but Michael has been kept in the dark. They hotfooted it over to the hospital in Chicago. It turns out Reginald owns it. Michael demanded to see Doctor Fisher. It took a lot of shouting, but at last Doctor Fisher was produced. He refused to let Michael see Donna — Reginald's orders. Michael ran past security anyway and Jamie trailed along behind. At one point Jamie shut a barred door behind them, leaving Doctor Fisher gnashing his teeth on the other side. "Sorry, doc. I didn't know it would lock," said he. It's times like this when I feel something could be made of Jamie. Michael found Donna 's room and burst in. And unidentifiable and ungood expression appeared on his face. "Donna," he said.
Mac told Rachel he wanted to go to New York not for business but to sort his life out. She wasn't happy. He phoned Rose and asked her to bring him his briefcase at the airport. Ada yelled at Rachel and told her to go with Mac. [Rachel was especially unhappy because he said he was going to lunch with an ancient flame.*] Rachel weighed the advice and found it good, so she suggested Matthew stay the night with Mitch. But when she got to the airport, there was Rose. She jumped to all the wrong conclusions and stomped back to Mary's Place to lick her wounds. Ada wasn't very consoling, I suppose, so she went to fetch Matthew, but Mitch had given Matthew leave to sleep over with someone else. Rachel stayed to talk with Mitch. She informed him that her marriage was over. He asked if she were free then. If you can imagine, Mac was put out because Rachel hadn't pursued him [and after all those things he said to her about wanting to be alone, too.]
Vince took Mary to their first little hovel. He showed her a hole he'd plastered and their ironing board covered with their initials carved on the door and Kathleen's height marked at the side. They moved into the McKinnon house when she [Mary] was pregnant with MJ.
