Scott keeps drifting in and out of consciousness. Cheryl's declaration of love has really thrilled him. She asked how he felt.
Rachel could kill Mitch.
Matthew turned up his nose at the oatmeal available in the soup kitchen and muttered darkly about Helen at home and French crêpes. Mitch told him he'd left Helen behind. He pointed out that oatmeal was better than nothing.
Michael fretted. Donna's condition does not change.
Brittany refused another highly priced lawyer (this one was Michael-induced). Catlin attempted to reason with her. (She's had two while we weren't looking.) Zack arrived for tryouts. Brittany told him to get lost. Catlin intervened. MJ told Brittany Zack was a friend of the McKinnons and the Corys. Brittany refused to have a lot to do with him. Zack recognized #4 as Donald Ease and advised her to let him take her case. Brittany was taken aback. Zack explained that he thought Donald Ease would give her the best defence whether he believed her guilty or not, whereas he was just to sprout in the valley of the jolly Green Giant. Brittany was drawn to him. She asked if he thought she was guilty. He said she very well could be.
Michael and Gomez do not get along. Michael yelled at Reginald. Victoria was distressed. Reginald assured her Michael was speaking out of his grief, failing to realize that other people were grieving too. How smug and superior we are.
Felicia and Jamie told Rachel they didn't think Mitch had kidnapped Matthew. Rachel refused to believe that Matthew had left of his own accord. Jamie illustrated with a story of how he had run away and hidden under Rose Perrini's porch (three blocks away) and waited for someone to find him. The point is all kids run away. Jamie proved it by saying Chester was gone. Rachel conceded the point.
It was the final straw for Matthew when a soup kitchen colleague brought up the Quai d'Orsai and turtle soup. He wants to go home. Mitch told him to phone Rachel and say they were on their way. Matthew thanked him.
Cheryl lost her ring. She didn't want Scott to know. He overheard. He looked for it in the dishwater and found it. She asked him to tell her he loved her.
Brittany took Zack on. He asked why. She said she hadn't liked the other lawyers. He deduced that she wanted to have a pitiful lawyer in order to be perceived as the underdog. She likes the poor girl victimized by the rich angle. She said she'd use any weapon she had.
Michael left for Chicago. He told Victoria he believed Reginald had altered Donna's mind. Victoria refused to believe it. Michael said Reginald could be very charming and wonderful when he needed to be. ("He needs to be a lot, because he is a PSYCHOPATH.") Victoria was not impressed. Reginald appeared and told Victoria he owned most of Bay City's skyline. Victoria was impressed. Michael chafed.
Jamie got Rachel out of the house for fresh air.
Matthew made a collect call but hung up after giving his name because it was so windy. Mitch produced emergency money and they went to buy bus tickets.
Zack told Brittany "accident" had been the wrong word to use. He asked MJ to lure Catlin away. Catlin won't let him bully Brittany. MJ offered to buy Catlin a cup of coffee. With Brittany to himself, Zack asked why she had tried to kill Peter. He accused her of being manipulative. She said she didn't think she wanted him as her lawyer anymore. He said he'd decide if he was to be her lawyer. He asked a lot of important questions about her baby's paternity and accused her of wanting Peter's money.
Scott told Cheryl she was the most gorgeous genuine girl he'd ever met and he didn't want to tell her he loved her if he wasn't sure it was forever true. He has never declared love before.
Rachel thinks Mitch took Matthew away because he didn't want Matthew with her. MJ chatted with Jamie. He made her uncomfortable. He asked what she was worried about.
Brittany is an idiot. Zack tried to make her see the gravity of her situation by disbelieving her story. Catlin couldn't take it any longer and burst in. Brittany asked Zack to stay.
Kathleen had sent Jamie to interrogate MJ. MJ was not pleased. Jamie coaxed her. He assured her he didn't want to take Adam's place. She told him she had received a letter from someone she hadn't wanted to see. End of story. He bugged her about her singing. It's never too late to change careers. [I'm mad.]
Matthew tried a collect call from the bus station. Rachel was thrilled. Matthew apologized for running away and said he was coming home. He did not say much more.
Michael warned Victoria not to goof off while he was gone. They were sweet. Reginald appeared. Michael swore he would bring Donna back healthy and strong and show him.
Zack believes in Brittany's innocence. She said she'd be happy if he took her case. He agreed. They got word Brittany was to go before the grand jury tomorrow.
