Vince busied himself with planning things about Kathleen's death. Mary tried to get him to talk. Vince is being unreasonable about Cass. Enter Cass.
Michael and Victoria got home. Donna greeted them enthusiastically. Bridget was glad to see Victoria. John and Jamie came down.
Cass said Vince wanted to know why Kathleen was dead and Cass was alive. Vince was slightly abashed. Cass went over what he'd done to save Kathleen again. He assured Vince he was suffering and left. Mary told Vince she wished he hadn't done that. She told him he couldn't blame Cass.
John was introduced to Victoria. He said something about her having Donna's smile. Michael was delighted he could see. I seem to have missed an exploding garage somewhere along the line. Donna had gone out with a kerosene lamp to look for John. She dropped it and the thing went up in flames and John saved her. Michael shook John's hand. And right after the fire John got his eyesight back.. Jamie welcomed Victoria home and left. John seems to have taken to Victoria. She and Bridget went upstairs. Michael kissed Donna. John went out. Michael concentrated on Donna.
Peter read about Kathleen in the paper. That Old Carrot worried about Mary. Peter brought out his photo album. That Old Carrot was pleased, but careful not to give Peter any idea that he was competent. That Old Carrot left. Wally told Lisa about Kathleen. Tony came in to say how hard it had been for him to write about Kathleen's death and her family's suffering.
Vince feels he has more right to grieve than Cass does, somehow. He knew her longer. Mary tried to comfort him. Vince went into the kitchen. Mary dropped something as That Old Carrot came in Being Sympathetic for all he was worth. Mary broke down and cried. He embraced her.
Tony and Lisa talked. She said writing helped her and he said writing helped him, too. She said she thought she'd lost her psychic power. Tony said he thought her psychic power was a Good Thing. Jamie emerged from the elevator and stopped dead, seeing Lisa in a tête-à-tête with another man.
Victoria (as played by Anne Heche) is not quite as bad a spoiled brat as Rhonda Lewin, but she'd nowhere near as blasé and skeptical as she ought to be, Her colouring is more like Ellen's, but she's shorter and curvier. She is, on the whole, a slight improvement over the last one, I think. She and Donna argued. Donna said she wanted them to get along. Victoria calmed down and said she loved her too. She went to unpack. Donna found John on the terrace. He told her Victoria reminded him of her.
Mary collected herself and straightened up. That Old Carrot said he didn't think she should be alone. She said she had Vince and Cheryl at hand. He let on he had held only a mild antipathy for Kathleen but she told him not to deny that he hadn't been able to stand her. She said she wished she'd had more time with Kathleen. Vince appeared and reminded her that it was That Old Carrot's fault she hadn't. That Old Carrot left. Cheryl came in with the mail. A letter had come from Kathleen. Vince waffled and gave it to Mary to read.
John seemed to strike Donna as being too interested in Victoria. Michael came out and put his arm around Donna. They heard loud peals of laughter from inside and deduced that Clara and Victoria had found each other. They went in. They're claiming that Clara and Victoria were previously acquainted, which seems odd, considering that Donna met Clara for the first time after Victoria went to California. Michael was very head of the family. Donna suggested they have a family party. That Old Carrot appeared in the hall.
Jamie rushed right over to break up the party. Tony said goodbye and left. Jamie was absurdly jealous and rude. Lisa was aghast. She yelled at him for being uncivil. Cass came up and chatted with Wally about the good old days. He leaped for the paper. Wally refused to let Cass blame himself. Cass felt better and left. Jamie apologised to Lisa for being jealous. He said he didn't like being shut out.
Victoria rushed into That Old Carrot's arms. Michael seethed. That Old Carrot got himself introduced to Clara. Peter arrived and hugged Victoria. That Old Carrot pursued Donna out onto the terrace to bug her about OUR PRECARIOUS HABITAT.
Kathleen's letter was strangely fatalistic. She was pleased for MJ and forbade Vince to hassle Adam. Vince looked grim. She said she'd seen Cheryl's picture in Venice and freaked out. She said she loved Mary. Cass came in and heard the end. In fact he had to read it himself, Mary was crying so hard. She finished up saying her family and Cass were everything to her. Vince apologised to Cass.
That Old Carrot was hopelessly insincere all over the place and left. Victoria gazed after him happily. (Rhonda.) Michael convinced her to play it cool and not borrow any money from him. Victoria is not entirely enthusiastic about working. John followed her out onto the patio and intimated that they were very alike.
Mary told Vince he could cry and she'd be there.
Endless twin father uncle comparisons. Victoria isn't as cool as she'd like to think. John said he'd clear his stuff out of her room. Michael summoned them inside. Peter organised a family portrait. Stupidly, Donna and John gazed at each other across the width of it.
