ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

May 24, 1985

Wallingford asked Carter about the apartment. Carter asked Wally about his investment. Wallingford: I was so lucky on that one, Carter [laughter]. Carter: ALL RIGHT, it's going right through the roof, huh? Wallingford: No, it's going right down the tubes [laughter but this time just Wally]. Carter: What? Wallingford: Oh, my inside information was all wrong. Luckily I found out in time but I hear that stock's going through the cellar.

Felicia called Liberace from Weehawken. Their date is still on. Piano playing.

Catlin tried to reason with Sally and said if she'd told Joyce the reason he would've been there. Sally asked what was so important that he hadn't been there. He was forced to admit he'd been with Brittany.

Dr. Edwards came. Donna got rid of Bridget and introduced Peter. The doctor says he has bad news.

Wallingford: It's a bum stock ... rumours, it's all rumours y'know. Some of them are true but a lot of them get started just because somebody's bored. And believe me, in this case somebody was REALLY bored. Carter: You said this was a sure thing. Wallingford: Carter, there's no such thing as a -- Carter, no. Carter: yeah. Wallingford: You BOUGHT that STOCK? Carter: You sounded so certain. Wallingford: But that's just me, POLLYANNA WALLINGFORD. I sound like that all the time. Carter: I didn't know that. Wallingford feels really badly. He feels worse now that Carter told him it was Dee's and he needs the money by tomorrow afternoon. Wally offered to give him the money. Carter said no.

Sally: Brittany. Catlin: And she wanted to see me. Sally: Sure she did. Catlin: She wanted to show me something in her motel room. [not the way to explain things to your wife.] Sally said he didn't have to explain it. He kept on trying to be rational but in a louder voice. Eventually she forgave him this. He wanted to try to explain to Kevin but she said he needed to be left alone for a bit. Catlin: You know--I'm so SICK of feeling guilty all the time now. Sally: I'm so sorry honey I don't mean to do that. Catlin: It's not you. Sally: Yes it is. And I guess the truth is I'm jealous of your being with Brittany . . . you're spending time with someone who is in love with you. Catlin made the distinction between being in love with him and being in love with Josh. He said he loved her. She said she loved him. There was a pause during which we could hear thunder which recurred during the rest of the scene. Catlin asked her out to dinner. She accepted enthusiastically and he said he told Britt he'd take her out but he'd change it to tomorrow. They decided to go to the Northwoods Inn. Kevin came tearing out of his room frightened by the storm. Sally and Catlin tried to reassure him but when Catlin apologized for missing the game and promised to go to the next one Kevin fled wordlessly to the sanctuary of his room where there are no nasty Catlins. Sally assured Catlin the child would come around. Catlin went to see Brittany.

Silence which I take to be Brittany disliking the storm.

Dr. Edwards told Donna and Peter that Marley had haemosynthosis, a very rare blood disease. Generally speaking the disease is both rapid and fatal. The only cure is a bone marrow transplant from a sibling. Fortunately with two of them the chances are very good the one will be genetically compatible. They must act quickly and Marley must get her rest. It's lucky Marley isn't an only child. The doctor left. OH PETER WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO.

Felicia arrived at Liberace's.

Dee and Wally and Carter discussed Felicia and Tom and Perry. Dee wants Wally to see the apartment. He said he was busy and tomorrow morning would be better. She said all right and enthused about the appliances. She left. Carter and Wally are both mad at themselves for being so dumb. Carter can't tell Tom but he has to tell Dee.

Victoria studying video tapes of Marley. Jake told her she was wasting her time and she wouldn't be able to pull it off. She said she'd make it work and she wasn't giving up. They argued.

Donna cried. Peter said she'd have to tell the doctor she was Marley's mother. He said they'd get a second opinion. Spare no expense in tracking down a man with a cure. Donna pointed out they have no money. Peter said they'd get the money. Bridget appeared to say it was her evening out and could she leave. She left. Peter comforted Donna. Marley appeared and asked what was wrong.

Sally called and got Aunt Liz' services as baby sitter for the evening. Kevin asked what she and Catlin had been fighting about. Sally said they weren't fighting they just had a difference of opinion. Kevin said she'd sounded like to cry. He was afraid they were fighting about him. She said they hadn't been able to decide where to go for dinner. He said he bet she wished Catlin was living with them again. She asked if he did. He said he didn't like the fighting. She said none of them did and she was sorry it upset him. He said it wasn't her fault. She was quick to assure him it wasn't Catlin's either. She told him not to be angry with him. He said he wasn't but he thought it was better that Catlin was living elsewhere.

Catlin found Brittany upset by the storm and took it upon himself to try to comfort her. Zane arrived and comforted her in a far more possessive [and successful] fashion.

Donna said the trouble was money. Marley said they were all right. Donna asked her to give up Smiley's because it makes her tired but Marley wants to bring in money. She was also told nothing happened to the magazine and the tests hadn't all come in but she had some form of anemia, not serious of all. Marley went to raid the refrigerator. She said she wasn't an invalid. She left. Peter said she had to tell her everything.

Bridget told Victoria and Jake about the Love troubles. She couldn't hear everything though. Jake took off much to Victoria's consternation.

Felicia brought lilacs for Liberace. He showed her around his rooms. She was impressed. She's thrilled to be there. She feels at home there she says.

Sally: [to herself] what's keeping him? Kevin: Catlin's still not here? Sally: No, he's not here yet. I guess he got held up in traffic. Kevin: You look pretty. Sally: I DO? Thank you. Kevin: Is that a new dress? Sally: Mhm. Do you like it? Kevin: It's a neat colour. [pink if I recall correctly.] Sally: Yeah, it is a neat colour, isn't it? Kevin: Sally? Sally: Mm? Kevin: have you ever met Catlin's other wife? Sally: Yes, I have. Kevin: Is she pretty too? Sally: Mhm. Kevin: What's she like? Sally: She seems very nice. Kevin: Why doesn't Catlin live with her? Sally: Because he doesn't love her. At least not the way he loves you and me. Kevin: But he was married to her. Sally: That was a long time ago, Kev. Kevin: And now Catlin wants to be married to you, right? Sally: RIGHT. [She sounded almost smug there.] Kevin: Sally--what if Catlin changes his mind?

Catlin told Zane Brittany had been weird when he arrived. Zane said the thunder made her that way. She can feel it 'tho she can't hear it. Catlin asked why he hadn't been able to help her being there as he was [and the light of her life though he didn't say that. Sounds as if the poor boy's pride is wounded]. Zane said she'd always reacted this way since the accident and she probably wasn't even aware it was him. Catlin pointed out that she'd known Zane and gone right to him [my we are offended much as we want to be married to the other]. Zane said he'd saved her after the accident. Catlin was sorry about what she'd been through. Zane told him she'd seen her father die and then her baby [Catlin's son] drowned. Catlin asked Brittany to tell him about the accident.

Carter surprised Jake about to enter the medical records room.

"I was terrified. People were running. I was standing on the deck. Everywhere they were running and screaming. The ship was going down. My father tried to help me with one of the lifeboats. The huge waves washed over the lifeboat and the lifeboat was carried back against the ship. My father was crushed underneath the lifeboat. [She's breathing very strangely. Naturally this is from Zane's lips.] And our little boy was washed overboard. I jumped in after him but the waves were too big and he was carried farther and farther away. I swam. I swam. But I couldn't get any closer to him. And then. The waves the rain. I couldn't see him anymore. I kept screaming "EVAN" and then I saw him a long way away. Then he was gone. [She's crying.] our son." Catlin said he'd put them on the boat and done this to them. He's very upset and remorseful. Comforting rustling.

Jake allayed suspicion by claiming he thought it was the men's room. He said he was there to see Tom. He mentioned the new apartment. Carter told him it had fallen through. He asked if he could borrow money. Jake has $400. Carter needs $1,500. Jake offered to ask for an advance at work but Carter said not to. Jake asked if he were in trouble. Just bills said Carter. Carter went to see Tom. Jake said he'd be there in a minute. Jake went into the records room.

Dee was full of the apartment in talking to Tom. There's no furniture. Tom's still thinking about Perry. The doctor came and called Tom his favourite patient. Dee left. Dr. Edwards took her blood pressure. It's good. They hope she'll be out in a couple of days. He told her to avoid stress. She told him ALL ABOUT [well not all] how she and Carter had to get married. He told her she wasn't responsible for that and she didn't have to worry.

Carter found Dee and told her he hadn't given her money to the landlord. Why? She said.

Liberace give Felicia earrings. She told him about Lily and Wallingford. He hinted he'd visit her and Lily and Wally in Bay City when he goes to Chicago. She gave him an autographed book in exchange FOR I'LL BE SEEING YOU played by Liberace. He played and sang. She looked moist.

Carter told Dee about what he'd done with her money. He feels like a jerk he promised to pay her back. She told him it was OK and she would have done the same thing but they had to get the apartment money somehow. He'll have to think of something to tell Tom.

Sally's worried because Catlin's late. She began to call Aunt Liz when Catlin appeared looking dazed and unlike himself. Like he'd been dealt a mortal blow perhaps. Sally started chattering nervously about how he'd best hurry and change because they were late. He said he couldn't go. Sally sent Kevin to his room in spite of his [Kevin's] protests. Catlin told her Brittany's Story. A tear welled up in his eye [the right one] and he continued to look completely vacant. She offered to take Kevin to Aunt Liz' and spend the evening in with him alone together but Catlin [still dazed] said he had to be alone period. She said she understood.

Jake told Victoria Marley was very sick with a usually fatal blood disease and she needed a BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT.

Marley's not feeling great. She's going to go to bed and call the doctor in the morning. Donna told her she loved her as she left. She told Peter it broke her heart. Peter said they had to call the doctor and tell him they weren't Marley's brother and sister tonight. Bridget overheard.

I'M JUST ABOUT READY TO KILL THAT CHILD KEVIN.

Sally dressed to go out looks like a normal person [i.e. not spangly.]

There should likely be an organization for FATHERS AFTER THE FACT. [most of whom seem to be Catlin. I guess he's the organization himself. An amalgamation into "one slightly larger Catlin".]

When I heard Brittany's story I kept thinking of the beginning of the handsomest drowned man in the world. It was a pretty depressing story. [Brittany's, I mean, not the Latin American one.]
