ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

January 24, 1985

Mac called from Zurich. He has something on Carl vielleicht. Word of a California trainer. Blaine wants to know what's going on between Nancy and PERRY HUTCHINS.

Donna's pestered with reporters' calls.

Peter called on Sally. Peter: Sally, I'm sorry I didn't come to see you sooner. I'm sorry about a lot of things but right now I need to ask your help.

Tony says Dee needs 24 hour surveillance. He wants Kathleen to live at Cecile's with her. Or he'll kill Cass. She'll do it (albeit reluctantly). Cass appreciates it. Dinner? She'd love to but she has to stay with Dee. Dee awoke. She's unthrilled to see Kathleen.

Sally said she'd help Peter. Peter: You're a warm compassionate person. I know this may seem hard to believe but I see some of those things in Emily too. Sally: well, I'm sure you do. Peter: She's a simple girl, really -- but complicated loving. I guess one of the reasons I was so drawn to her is because she reminds me of -- you (THESE LOVES. Now you cut that out) in some ways. Maybe I was just trying to recapture some of what the two of us had. I -- I don't know. Sally asked (a little strangely) how she could help him. He asked her to give a deposition about how Emily helped her to get Kevin's files. She told him she didn't want anyone to know about her being Kevin's mother and he said he'd keep the secret. Sally told him she wouldn't do it to help Emily because Emily's been the cause of Catlin's trial etc. She said it was sad that after all this she and Catlin and Cass and Cecile and Kathleen were fine and Peter was now the victim. He said he wasn't. He begged her to help Emily. Catlin appeared and said she wasn't going to.

Nancy told Blaine she wanted to forget all about it. Blaine told her not to give up on him.

Perry's looking at bits in the paper about Carl's crimes. Donna told him not to worry about Carl. He yelled at her and stomped out. She's trembly and hysterical.

Peter: I wasn't talking to you, Catlin. Catlin: Well, well, that works out just fine. Because I don't want to hear what you have to say. Peter: you don't understand. Catlin: I understand everything about Emily Benson. She was a killer. Peter: She only did those things -- Catlin: Don't give me ONLY. She ONLY murdered people. Now I don't care who told her to do it or how she was forced to do it. She DID it. Now, that's the end of that conversation. Now I want you to get out of here. Peter: Sally -- Catlin: And listen to me. Don't you ever bother Sally again. She seems to have a little soft spot for you and you just took advantage of that. Now get out. (Exit Peter.) Are you all right? Sally: No, I'm a little upset, to tell you the truth. Catlin: Boy, he has some nerve -- Sally: At YOU, Catlin. Catlin: He has no right asking you that. Sally: Do you realise what Peter is going through lately? Catlin: Yes, I do. Larry told me about him bringing that woman back into the country and THEN telling everyone that it wasn't her fault. Sally: He LOVES her. Catlin: SO WHAT? Sally: All right, I agree with you about Emily and I told him that but I do have an idea of what he's going through. Catlin: What is he going through? Sally: Well I remember how I felt when the whole world hated you. What that put me through. Catlin: Wait -- wait -- no, that's totally different -- Sally: no, it isn't -- Catlin: But I didn't do anything. Sally: Why does the fact that Peter cares so much fro Emily make you so angry? Catlin: It doesn't make me angry. Sally: Why? There are more than two responses in this world, you know that? But with you it's either you like people or they make you angry. Catlin: That's not true. Sally: Catlin, Peter is hurt, he's not himself right now, couldn't you just give him a break? Catlin: How about giving me a break? Sally: You don't need one. Catlin: Well you are real quick to understand PETER'S needs. Sally: What does that mean? Catlin: Just what you think. You're acting like you're still in -- Sally: Couldn't bring yourself to say it, could you. But you almost did. Exit Catlin.

Kathleen's trying to teach Dee to walk. They're going to practice the interview with Mrs. Royer. (Ed. Note: The sooner Dee gets done, the sooner Kathleen's evenings will be Cass'. We're hurrying.) Dee: I've flunked about 11 interviews just like this one. You know how hard it is to make one of those sweet old dames lose her cool? Well . . . I managed it. About 11 times. Cass wants Dee to sit properly. Doorbell. He opened it to Felicia and Wallingford leaving Kathleen to teach Dee how to sit. He bragged of Kathleen's ungoadability. AND A VOICE WAFTED OUT INTO THE HALL: "Listen, you little twit, you keep your KNEES together and your mouth SHUT." Felicia and Wallingford are eager spectators.

Donna went to see Emily. She begged her to give up Peter for Peter's sake. Emily said she loved Peter. Donna said if she truly loved him she'd give him up. Emily said they needed each other.

Sally's morosely botching curtains alone. Aunt Liz came by with carrot bread for them. A loaf each. Liz wondered where Catlin was. Sally mumbled something about errands. Sally's depressed about her rotten curtains and her general undomesticity. Aunt Liz comforted her with rattlings on about her own terrible newlywed housekeeping and she used to get upset because of the fights they had but they turned out to be unimportant in the long run. Sally cheered up. Aunt Liz offered to stay to help with the curtains but Catlin returned so she dashed out despite Sally's protests. LONG AWKWARD SILENCE. Catlin (awkwardly) gave her flowers. He apologized profusely. She apologized quite as profusely. He said he loved her. She responded in kind. KISSING. (He said he'd almost left the flowers in the car so's to make it seem he didn't think flowers would make everything all right again.)

Perry said "snipe" a good many times. Marley told him (a) she doesn't like cynicism and (b) they ain't like they folks. He said that it was scary that his father and Donna even met. She told him not to be a jerk and to go to Nancy. (Two contradictory things if ever I've heard any.)

Donna dropped in on Sandy. She's worried about Peter. Blaine came in. Donna spoke breathlessly of the vastly passionate kiss of December 11. Blaine said Sandy'd explained. She invited them to dinner. Blaine said no. Sandy said yes. Donna left. Sandy explained to Blaine Donna was deeply upset so Blaine's not displeased. The trainer died last year.

Dee gave up. She's going to feed her face. Cass: Well just remember -- keep your shoulders back and your head erect. Dee: YEAH, STUFF IT. Cass: Isn't she a little sweetheart. General agreement. Cass would like to hang her. (Kathleen: Come on, she's not a bad person, she's young. Cass: Yeah, well, I was young once and I never behaved like that. Kathleen: well so was I and I had my moments.) Wallingford and Felicia volunteered to baby-sit Dee so Cass & Kathleen could go out.

Perry went to see Nancy. She was pleased. She told him his father mattered not to her or anyone. He said he still loved his father and he'd missed her. He apologized for January 8. They kissed. Sandy waltzed in almost immejutly. He asked Perry's help.

Peter went to see Emily. She's resigned to jail. He won't give up. She said she thought they should end it. He dragged the baby into it. She said she'd done terrible things. He said he loved her and left. He has further people to see. She's not to worry. Emily: I'm not worried, Peter. I know what I have to do.

Catlin and Sally are sprawled out before the fire (wot we is looking through). They pretty much said that a lot of things the other had said during the argument were valid. Catlin admitted to getting too angry. Sally said Emily had done a lot of terrible things. Sally: I just wanted you to understand that Peter couldn't help falling in love with her. Catlin: I do remember how you loved me. Even when everyone thought I was a murderer. Sally: I was a lot luckier than Peter. I fell in love with the right person. Brief silence. Catlin: I can't lose you. None of this would make any sense if that happened. Sally: You're not going to lose me. Don't worry about that. Catlin: 's funny how things work out. Sally: You know if we ever do fight again (IF? IF? They've averaged a fight a week since they beginning of the year, the idiots. Or something like that.) Catlin: What? Sally: Don't worry about bringing me flowers. I didn't mind that at all.

Sandy asked for Perry's help. Nancy said that wasn't fair. Sandy pleaded. Perry gave in.

Cass and Kathleen are planning their dinner. Tonight is THEIR night says Cass. Dee said she didn't think Tony would be too terrifically thrilled to hear that Cass and Kathleen had dumped her with those two crazies on the first night. (Can it be that the girl is jealous?) Cass said he hadn't figured her for a STOOL PIGEON. She didn't call but she said her uncle wasn't too thrilled by young love. (Ooooh. What if Dee demanded Cass' hand in marriage and Tony wished to oblige? Dee in a wedding gown. She'd be like Imogene Herdman as the virgin Mary.) Kathleen pointed out that love conquers all. (Omnia vincit amor. Vergil. Cass says Vergil was a wise man.) Dee said they were enough to gag a maggot and left. Cass said the evening was bound to be the most romantic he's ever spent. (Cecile notwithstanding? Oh, I forgot. Cecile was mostly late morning/early afternoon. Busy schedule, had Cass. Felicia's apt at night. And later Peter was Cecile's evening escort. I think they actually went out.) Cass: It's not often I get to go out with a woman who's so -- Kathleen: Vulnerable? Cass: Yes. So -- shy. So -- demure. Laughter. Much laughter. Kathleen lunged at him. All-out attack.

QUESTION: Who is this everybody as thought Catlin was a murderer? If I recall correctly there were vast armies of believers in his innocence and the only ones who thought differently numbered 14 -- the jury, judge, and DA.

WHAT on earth will Emily do? P'r'aps she'll make the standard I'm in jail best tell the object of my affections how repulsive I find him/her.

Wasn't Peter horrid? One doesn't do that to one's former fiancée WHEN IT WAS HIS OWN FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE THE HORRIBLE INTOLERANT IDIOT AND I DON'T THINK EMILY'S LIKE SALLY. Sally's a brunette (with a relatively normal voice) and Emily is a blonde (with a horrible childish voice) who DOES. Worlds apart.

I left out Quinn and Lily in the dayout. Quinn will be among those who consider Chicago BUT SHE WON'T and she'll take up knitting. Booties etc. Pink. She'll be graced with dayout TRIPLETS and she'll love them madly. Lily will escape dayout babies for no known reason. Blaine will suspect her of being with Carl and she'll try to kill her in a fit of pique with a chainsaw. She won't succeed.
