ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

December 24, 1987

Cass came home, wagging his tail behind him. Nicole was not happy with him. Cass said he hadn't gone to the game after all, he'd found a place for her to work. She threw out the lease and the proffered pen.

Mac was very nice to Amanda. She said she wasn't sure about having the baby.

Mitch brought Sam a tree from Felicia. Sam told him he didn't mind if he told Felicia about Amanda. Sam groused about Mac. Mitch asked if he would marry Amanda. Sam admitted it was the Right Thing to do. Mitch asked why he would marry her. He advised him to decide what he wanted and discuss it with Amanda. Sam decided to go propose.

Scott couldn't find Dawn. The police have been called in. They found someone. Scott and Jamie and Chad went to see. Vince told Mary she'd done a fine job with Scott.

Nicole said she wanted to see the place and talk to the landlord. She accused Cass of being high handed as he had been with Barbara van Arkdale and marriage. Then she remembered that had been Rex. Donna burst in with a reason to complain about Peter. Cass left; it seems Peter has inconsiderately gone to New York for the holidays. He could have helped her plot for Michael. She asked Nicole to stand in for him. Nicole didn't want to help her lie to Michael.

Mac opposed the idea of abortion. Rachel came in and said he couldn't overrule Amanda's wishes.

Mitch pointed out it was possible Amanda didn't want to get married, or that she didn't want to have a baby. Sam had not considered the latter possibility, but conceded that it was Amanda's decision. Ditto marriage. Mitch said he regretted the way he'd handled the Matthew thing. He advised him to make sure he had a say in the child's future.

The police had not found Dawn. Ada knows something's wrong at the Romance. Vince comforted Mary.

Donna wants to lure Michael to the ski lodge. Nicole told her the best way to win Michael back would be to get on with her life. Donna said she had no other life. Nicole suggested she would be better off with interests other than Michael. Donna said, ungratefully, "thank you, Gloria Steinem." [I shall be sick.] She begged Nicole to help her. Nicole fled. Bridget brought Donna her lap robe.

Mac assured Amanda that they would help her and the baby in every way and they would not be ashamed of her. Sam dropped by. Rachel took Mac out when Amanda gave her the nod. Sam did not beat around the bush. He asked Amanda if she wanted to get married. Amanda was taken by surprise. She said she didn't know. He said it would be good for the baby. She said she didn't know if people who weren't in love should get married, looking at him furtively, hoping he would say he loved her, I suppose. He agreed that people not in love shouldn't get married. She asked if he would have proposed if she hadn't been pregnant.

Donna tried to get Bridget to phone Michael for her. Luckily for her, Bridget was more easily persuadable than Nicole. So Donna dialed for her, and prompted her, and made hand motions [which looked like milking a cow] to assist her. Bridget asked Michael if he would go fetch Donna. Donna was chagrined to hear he had promised to send Peter. Then she recalled that Peter was out of town and rejoiced. Bridget looked disapproving, in a sad kind of way.

The Mary's Place gang is helping St Elmo's for Christmas, too. There is no point in jilting St Elmo's to worry about Dawn. Cheryl was happy to see Vince and Mary getting along.

Sam admitted he wouldn't be proposing now if she weren't pregnant. Amanda asked if he loved her. He said he wanted to do what was right. She refused to get married because she was pregnant, but assured him he could see the baby anytime. He was hurt, and left. Amanda told the air she loved Sam.

Cass showed Nicole the building. She said she wanted to think about it some more. He grew exasperated. She said she didn't appreciate his urging her to leave the business side to him and just create. It smacks of Barbara van Arkdale. He said it was different, they were partners. She suggested they have breakfast.

Mitch helped Cheryl with St Elmo's pies. Nicole and Cass came in, arguing about who had more to lose and who therefore ought to make all the decisions. Cass sulked. Nicole agreed to sign his lease. She assured him she had confidence in him. He pointed out she wasn't experienced in business. They discussed "It's A Wonderful Life." He said he liked Gloria Grahame, but she was more the Donna Reed type.

No one could find Dawn. Scott and Jamie and Chad came to St Elmo's. Cheryl told Scott she hoped he would be with Dawn tomorrow.

Ada was nice to Amanda. Amanda is bewildered, a little. She did say she loved Sam but he didn't want to marry her.

Sam looked heavy of heart.
