ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

December 23, 1987

Michael introduced Gillian to his wife and insisted Donna come in, since she looked so pale. Michael laughed when Donna said love nest.

Nicole left a clear field for Mitch with Felicia. She ran into Cass and made it plain she would be willing to spend time with [him]. He was oblivious.

Mac yelled at Sam for upsetting his daughter. Amanda flung herself between them when it looked like developing into a fistfight. Sam ordered Mac out of his house. Mac accused him of being selfish. Sam said that wasn't true. Mac took Amanda home. Sam looked hurt.

Michael told Donna she was being silly. He explained that Gillian was one of his vice presidents. She accused him of hiring beautiful women for immoral purposes [which means, I suppose, that he can't legitimately expand his business out of state. Sorry.] When she proved difficult to convince, he gave up and suggested she not drop by his hotel room at 11:00 at night. Enter Victoria.

Mitch took a phone call from Sam and told Felicia he had to go over to his loft. Wally pointed out to Felicia that Cass was looking down.

Mary rushed to Scott's side at the hospital. He wept and told her Dawn had AIDS.

Dawn told Chad she didn't blame their mother. She could have died then if she hadn't donated blood.

John celebrated Christmas with a couple of vets and some rum. Nicole dropped by. She said her car wouldn't start. The vets fled, clearly under the wrong impression. Nicole stayed to chat. He produced more rum. He called her Nick. She assured him she didn't blame him for everything. She confided she had man troubles.

Mitch thought the whole thing pretty ironic. He was glad to see Sam was prepared to be responsible and supportive. He asked if Amanda knew. Sam said it hadn't occurred to him to tell her, it was such a foregone conclusion. Mitch advised him not to go to the Romance now, but Sam pointed out there would never be a good time. Mitch said he'd come along.

Mac got Amanda home. Matthew appeared inconveniently to fuss about what he should get Sam for Christmas. His parents sent him to bed, but not before he had perceived that Amanda was looking weird. Amanda told Mac and Rachel she had something to say.

Gillian emerged from hiding and decided to leave. Donna didn't like to talk about the baby in front of Victoria. She invited Victoria and Michael to spend a little time with her at Christmas. Michael could not prevent Vicky from being nasty. Donna fled when Michael said she had to accept the divorce.

Nicole told John Cass was depressed and she wished she could cheer him up. John talked about Christmas in Nam. Nicole decided to throw a party to bring everyone together.

Mary comforted Scott.

Dawn sent Chad to see to Scott and looked at her clothes.

Amanda apologized. The Corys decided to call it a night. Sam and Mitch arrived. Mac tried to protect Amanda from Sam but she said they should hear what he had to say. Sam said he respected Amanda and would support his child. Mac said love was what was called for here and ordered him out. Sam said he'd leave, for Amanda's sake. Exit Sam. Mitch asked Mac why he wouldn't give them a chance and left.

Scott assured his mother that he hadn't slept with Dawn. Vince and Cheryl arrived. Cheryl comforted Scott. He went into Dawn 's room to sit with her.

Nicole got Felicia and Wally to help set up her party. She invited Cass to her party. He said he'd try to stop by. She ran into Donna, who said she was determined to spend Christmas with Michael.

Mac apologized to Amanda for coming across as outraged and overprotective. They embraced.

Mary recommended On Death and Dying by Elizabeth Kübler-Ross to help understand Dawn's feelings.

John and his vets arrived at Nicole's party. Felicia told Mitch Nicole seemed oddly eager to hold this party. Wally arrived with the hot buttered rum. Nicole pined for Cass. O Come All Ye Faithful. Wally reported that Cass had found a poker game in Chicago. Nicole threw her heart into the singing.

Everyone decided to stay at the hospital and take turns sitting with Dawn. Scott went in and found her bed empty.

Mac told Amanda they would have a wonderful Christmas and in the new year they would celebrate the birth of the new baby.
