Amanda gave consent to the surgery and signed her name Amanda Fowler for the first time. Jamie told her he loved her. She begged him not to let Sam die.
Jason found Lisa. Vicky blamed herself.
Lisa led Adam to the couch. He took the phone off the hook and kissed her. [Oh dear.]
Mac arrived at the hospital. Amanda asked to be left alone. Matthew wanted to talk to her. Ada sat with her. Kevin arrived and showed Tracy and Matt the photo.
When Lisa turned out not to be home Vicky told Jason to phone Adam. When they couldn't get Adam at the office they tried his wicked bachelor pad. Finding the line busy, they decided to go over in person.
Adam pulled away from Lisa and insisted on discussing her motives. She brought up MJ. He admitted he thought he would always love MJ. They relaxed and decided they were still friends, although their friendship couldn't stand much more of this sort of thing. Lisa went to freshen up.
All doctors look alike in their caps and things. Jamie chatted with the surgeon.
Mac and Rachel tried vainly to comfort Amanda. Tracy told Matthew she and Kevin would take care of the Tad thing. Ronnie comforted Amanda more successfully.
Felicia and Mitch came home from bowling. Felicia suggested they break out the sexy nightie. Mitch went over to the phone to order champagne.
Adam opened the door to Vicky and Jason, who said they were looking for Lisa. Lisa emerged from the bathroom. Adam began buttoning his shirt belatedly. Jason went out to the car. Vicky begged for help. Lisa was mean about Vicky's losing Mikey until she heard the circumstances. Adam said they should go to Vicky's apartment, for some reason he deemed it necessary that Lisa and Vicky ride together and he ride with Jason. Lisa told Vicky she was doing this for Mikey, not her. Vicky said if she helped find Mikey she wouldn't tell Jamie Lisa had slept with Adam. Lisa was disgusted. Vicky was too concerned about Mikey to argue about it.
Ronnie got Amanda to talk. Amanda blamed herself because Sam had tried to protect her when the rocks came through the window and had thus precipitated his seizure. Matthew decided the rocks had been meant for him and Tracy and said there would be no more secrets or lies. Amanda went off to be alone. Ronnie and Mac wouldn't let Rachel go after her.
Amanda went to the chapel. I thought the way she talked to God was pretty disgusting. "I never thought that I would have to be back in here. The last time I was in here I asked you for your help. I guess I didn't ask hard enough. Why is this still happening? We have gone through the worst experience anybody can go through and here I am again ready to offer you anything — ANYTHING just to have Sam back the way he was. Are we bad people? Are you punishing us? I never hurt anybody. Sam is my whole life and all you want to do is take him away from me, don't you? I'm so afraid for him, for our baby. We haven't had nearly enough time together, not nearly enough TIME. I can't go on without him. Please, please make him better. Let us live long full lives together. Let my baby know his father. PLEASE. I'm so sorry." What I see here is a complaint that her life isn't perfect. Somehow she considers that she deserves to be happy because she's a nice person. I think it's sickening that she would say that Sam is her whole life when she has unlimited quantities of love, support, and money from her family. I don't think they have gone through the worst experience anybody can go through. Have they been tortured? Mutilated? Raped,? Abandoned? Amanda's self-centeredness is unbelievable.
Surgery began. The top of Sam's head was covered so that we wouldn't have to see a) anything disgusting, or b) that he still has all his hair, I'll bet.
Mitch told Felicia the message on the machine was driving him crazy. He listened to Rachel's messages. They left for the hospital.
Kevin and Tracy tried to call Matthew down. Matthew took Amanda aside and comforted her. Tracy decided enough was enough and got into the elevator.
Vicky gave Lisa things to hold. Lisa got nothing. Adam said they'd searched. When Lisa held the bunny she said Mikey was there in a dark place alone. He fell. He stuck. He's scared. Adam and Jason went to check the garbage chute, although it's too high for Mikey to have reached.
Mitch and Felicia arrived at the hospital. Matthew told Mitch it was important he talk to him. Mitch was too upset about Sam. Felicia asked Matthew to understand. Ronnie sat with Amanda.
Code blue. They had to shock Sam repeatedly.
Vicky fretted. Lisa sensed it wasn't the garbage chute. Adam and Jason returned. Lisa said Mikey was sleeping. They rushed down to the basement. Lisa told Vicky not to worry, they'd find him. Vicky remembered the gas man had done some work on pipes in the basement. Vicky called to Mikey. They smelled gas. Lisa said Mikey was down the hole there. Vicky became hysterical. Lisa went to phone the gas company. Jason stuck his head in the hole and, seeing Mikey, went down after him.
Kevin and Matthew missed Tracy. They were afraid she'd gone after Tad. Matthew said he had to leave unobtrusively. Kevin went ahead. Ada detained Matthew. Matthew insisted on leaving. Amanda sensed something was wrong. She said, "Sam, come back."
Sam went flatline and had a misty out of body experience. There was wind, too. He and Amanda kissed a lot and then he drifted away. Or she did. I don't know. The surgeon was ready to give up but Jamie wasn't. Everyone turned away.
