Felicia and Wallingford are meeting Hubie at Smiley's to talk about the accident. He reputedly has a temper. They're afraid but they're in this together.
Aunt Liz took Sally and Kevin to Smiley's. Sally's making the most incredible faces. She's upset. She flinches at the mention of Catlin's name. Aunt Liz sent Kevin to the juke box and asked Sally what was wrong.
Peter's interrogating that man.
Who was that man? said Rachel. She has no idea who he is but she should. Joyce tried to calm her down. Said she'd be going home soon. Advised her to rest and not worry.
Mac's thrilled. All the Corys are exulting. Brian too. They're going out to dinner. Rachel can go home in a week says Alice. Joyce came out to tell Alice about the amnesia.
Sally denied a problem. Liz persisted. Kevin played on the juke box "Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be Cowboys" and she tied herself in knots and said "Kevin -- oh -- don't play that," vair' flustered. Kevin says that's Catlin's favourite song. Kevin wants to call and ask Catlin to come but Liz looked at Sally's expression of anguish and said not.
Felicia and Wallingford waiting on tenterhooks. She says he's a prince among men. Enter Hubie. Demanding to speak to Wallingford. He was frightening at first but he appreciated their concern about Caroline and got quite friendly. They chatted over pie.
Maisie got Kevin out of the way for Sally and Liz to talk. Sally told her. Liz was sorry on Catlin's account (poor Catlin . . . he must have been so young. I'll say). Sally said the point was he hadn't told her. She said if he loved her he would've told her. Liz told her in effect that was stupid and they knew he did. Sally says she can't stop thinking about his wife.
Catlin. Despondent. Alone. Thinking about Brittany. Asking her to marry him. She was a cowgirl ("A no-good rodeo woman.") Vast amounts of kissing.
Peter getting excited. Threatening the reticent man. The man disliked this and got up to go. Peter told him Catlin was on the verge of getting married.
Alice checking on Rachel.
Mac wants to take Rachel to Hawaii. And Ada and Brian and the kids . . . Alice came and told them of the amnesia. No brain damage. Mac went to see her. "Are you my father?" She's annoyed not to know her name or his or who anyone is. He'll send Ada in to see her. He said he'd loved her for a very long time and they'd been very happy together. He left. She doesn't believe it really.
Aunt Liz told Sally not to jump to conclusions. Sally said he loved Kevin like his own son and that was the reason they'd gotten together. Aunt Liz said BOSH or something to that effect. She told her not to question Catlin's love.
Felicia and Hubie are getting along famously. Discussing her trucker novel. Truckers are vair' romantic she says. Down to business. Everything seems straightforward. He asked them not to let on he doesn't live up to his reputation with them. He left.
Liz talking about making ice cream. Sally thought about March 14 with Peter and concluded he'd known about Brittany and had been covering for Catlin. She wants to call him. Aunt Liz said she didn't trust Peter. Sally wants to find out if there's anything else. She sent Kevin with Liz. Liz disapproves but she left w. Kevin. Sally got on the phone.
Peter managed to arrest the man's interested with the marriage comment. "Why are you interested in this guy?" "I'm not. I'm interested in the girl. I care about her. VERY MUCH." He wants the truth. The man told nothing. Peter's determined to find out what's up.
Ada went to see Rachel. Vapid. Told her she had three children. She doesn't remember that at all.
Felicia's optimistic. She wants to get Grant a job now. Wallingford says when they're together things aren't sane. Felicia says sanity's overrated. Wallingford told her she deserves a romance novel hero. She likes him. He went in.
Sally told Peter Catlin'd told her about Brittany and the marriage and the boy and the accident and was there anything more? Peter said that was all. She rang off although he tried to probe further.
They hope the amnesia won't last long. Rachel piecing statements together asked if they were rich. Joyce admitted she thought they were and left. Rachel repeated her name over to herself.
The man went to say goodnight to Brittany. Kissed her forehead and left.
Sally went up to the cabin and put her hand on the knob. Catlin inside went to the door and did likewise. Both walked away. Catlin sat down and put his head in his hands.
