Jake gave his proposition re the Plains Motel to the loan shark, who liked it. Wally witnessed the transaction and disapproved in a big way.
Bridget tried to ferret out Britt's reasons for checking out an abortion clinic. She disapproves of abortion. Britt very cleverly speaks despondently and harps on the likelihood. Bridget told her to tell Peter about the baby but Britt kept talking about the kind of women Peter falls for. Bridget brought up the death of Emily and the baby and Evan and so on.
Cass is devoting all of his energies to not phoning, writing to, thinking about, and dreaming of Kathleen. He asked Sally to not take a letter for him. Cass: tell me when you're not ready. Sally: all right, I'm not. Cass: dear Miss McKinnon. The future of Lesoleil lies in the lovely delicate palm of your hand. Sally: oh I like that. I like that very much. It's very tender but it's very businesslike. That's nice. Cass: you have the power to prevent this great great company from going bankrupt with a simple declaration of love for Mr. Winthrop. Enclosed please find a self addressed stamped postcard. Sally: postcard? That's cheap. Cass: that'll be enough out of you. Simply mark an X in the box that states YES, I do love Cass Winthrop. Return same to blah blah blah. Now would you not have that typed up and I won't sign it.
Edouard boosted Kathleen's ego. Raoul says her first two scenes are hot. He wants first refusal. Her modesty gives him a pain. She works on her legs but very little progress results. But she has a hope-giving brochure.
The payments are weekly after the first month. Any help with unions, liquor suppliers just call this très mafioso kinda guy [not that he admits] and away we go. We're fine upstanding folk so we don't sign, we shake. Oh, JAKE.
Nancy is into phone sales. Jalousie windows. She's going in for cheerfulness in a big way and it's driving Dee bats. Dee told her to patch it up with Chris but Nancy carries on being sunny and saying it's over. Nancy's career is most unsuccessful. [Jalousie windows let the light and air in and keep the rain and snow out.] She perseveres.
Britt refuses to tell Peter, attempting to goad Bridget into telling him. Exit Bridget in a huff. Britt is confident of her success.
Computer stimulation of damaged nerves. Kathleen is all for it. Edouard wants it investigated. Kathleen hopes at the drop of a hat. She's sure the computer therapy will work if only through sheer force of will.
Jake called Marley.
Wally rushed up to Carter in Smiley's and asked where Jake was. He asked for his help in preventing the silly idiot from making the biggest mistake of his life. Tom reminded him of how she had fared helping Chris.
Jake left a message saying they had the Plains Motel. Frenzied knocking. Wally and Carter called out to him. He let them in. Wally cast up his dealings with Frank Baines to him. Loan sharks are bad things. Wally told him about kneecaps. And said he'd be under his thumb paying forever and being the means through which good ol' Baines gets a liquor license. Wally advised him to take the money back pronto. He said it wasn't worth having the Plains Motel if this was the only way to get enough money. Carter asked to be left alone with Jake. Jake said Wally was blowing the whole thing out of proportion. Inexorable Carter said if he didn't take the money back he'd do it for him.
Peter found Bridget agitated but not forthcoming about her distress. He said perhaps she could talk to Brittany when she dropped by. Bridget was thrilled to hear they'd be seeing each other and gabbled on about how they [Britt and Peter] could confide in each other. He was perplexed and pleased.
Nancy bitched to Ada about Chris and Pam and so on. She enjoys selling windows though.
Dee escorted a pizza to Cass' office. She hates windows. She made myriad tactless comments about love and misery going hand in hand. But they [Cass and Sally] love her and forgive her.
Jake is panicked about Marley and money. Carter: so you went to a loan shark. Why didn't you just walk in front of a truck, it's much faster. They yelled at each other. Carter told him Marley would have to bail him out. Admit you're wrong and take the money back.
Cass went to a meeting. Dee said Cass would die of not being with Kathleen. Sally said given enough time, space and problems they'd just wake up one morning out of love. Dee asked if that pertained to the Ewing situation. Sally said no but got vague as to the actual cause. [They say that falling in love is wonderful. Wonderful. So they say.]
Britt pumped Peter about Bridget but he knew only that she'd been strange. Britt was incredulous that she hadn't confided in him. He suggested they go to see "The Man Who Knew Too Much" [oh, the irony of it all]. Britt left alone thumped cushions in annoyance and complained bitterly about Bridget's being no help at all and thoroughly stupid.
Wally and Carter are relieved that Jake returned to the Pig Whistle.
Jake went back to Frank Baines and offered the money back. Baines told him it wasn't cricket.
Kathleen is looking forward to her miracle computer cure appointment. Edouard told her slow & steady wins the race but she assured him she meant to work at it too. She's tired of not getting results.
